  1. oh that's not good. I would be livid if that was me. Fingers crossed for getting it all sorted out ok...
  2. nice work but going to the pub sounds like a much better idea lol. might have to find myself a drink now you've said that...
  3. Bloody hell! This wheel arch cleaning seems to be catching... lol! the reason is cos I jet washed the arches after the mud-bath my car got at Harewood last weekend and a bit of purple paint is showing through so thought I might try to discover some more.... that and cos I don't have anything more exciting to do this weekend
  4. you can get the plastic from Paintshield, but not sure about patterns to fit Corrados?? btw, excellent thread Rob :D edit: forget that link cos that's an american one, but I know that Paintshield exists over here lol. There's also Armourfend, I think...
  5. Hello Noah, lucky you for your first car ride - hope you appreciate it!! You might even drive it one day... Also just wondering if you have been so named cos of the recent weather...
  6. finally got round to using the clay and scratch-x which I've had for months. Very distressed but not at all surprised to find many, many tiny scratches etc which I didn't know about after claying. Glad I did it though. Also hit 140k  on the way to pick up some SRP from Halfords, which was closed  tomorrows plans - SRP, re-clean headlining, might even see if there's some blackberry paint under what is prob 12yrs of dirt in the wheel arches... what else are bank holiday weekends for??!!
  7. a change doesn't always have to be an end
  8. Sorry to hear about this - it would be a shame for another to be off the road, but I'm sure you'll be able to make a fair few £££s by breaking it and then you could buy another really nice example... I'm sure I could think of a few things I'd like (def OS wing if in vgc) even though the interior is the wrong colour for mine.
  9. I like the black and silver style ones but I know that's pushing it just that little bit too far...
  10. I remember this happening - it's not far from where I live. afaik, the house is now sold. It seemed to take ages to repair the house and that room doesn't have a window there anymore. Scary what can happen if you lose control of your car...
  11. nicely done Rob. Like the 'wtf' pic - it reminded me of how I felt when I saw my dash out but glad to say I wasn't doing it lol! Just wish I'd got some of the rattles and the heater working at the same time. So what's the next big task you're gonna take on??!
  12. that's not a garage - that's a mansion  I was chuffed cos I rented one for mine in May but it's so small, it's a mission to park the car so that I can close the garage door and still get out of the car  I haven't scraped the car yet, but I live in fear...
  13. bad luck Rob, I know this is a complete PITA. Like you said, at least it went at a convenient moment (not that convenient is ever the right word for this... ) - mine went on a cold November day and I didn't enjoy waiting for the AA to turn up and give me a lift home! Good luck getting it all sorted at the weekend.
  14. Bad luck Roger. Sorry to see your car like this - it always looked lovely at work. Did you speak to Andy?
  15. don't blame you - I don't want it either!! lmk how you get on with non-OEM ones please as I need one too...
  16. I've got a brand new Golf one you can have for a few quid if you want. I'm not keen on the look cos they're too big imo and you have to modify the clips to make them fit properly...
  17. ...and Brentacre def do agreed valuations. Ask for John (01792 650933) - I got a great quote in April which nearly halved what Tesco wanted in renewal........
  18. go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on..... think you should rescue one from an unloving home and then you've got a great excuse to spend a bit of money too!
  19. ffs... why are those in power so hell bent on destroying anything that could allow us plebs to enjoy ourselves? Maybe cos we should all be working longer hours to throw more tax into the coffers? :bad-words:
  20. me too except mine was a Twist. Not sure what that meant except for having a thin red stripe down the side.... It was dark grey and I loved it until I missed bumpers with the back end of a range rover and bent the bonnet somewhat. That was a good excuse to get my mkII rocco though, before I finally graduated to my VR :D
  21. I doubt I'm the only one on here who owns a VR and doesn't have much maintenance knowledge. CF is a great way to learn more and people are usually keen to help out when they can. I've only been on here for a few months and have learnt so much already. I admit it's basic at the moment but it's still valuable knowledge! I managed nearly a year and a half of ownership without knowing much before I found this site, so it can be done!! I reckon you should go for it. It would be shame to pass up owning such a fun and unusual car just for this reason.... :D
  22. afaik, the E and F plate regs haven't been released yet, but I really don't understand why not... I think F1 - F20 are due to be released fairly soon though. Only reason I've been looking is cos I'd quite like very similar to above - F475VRG FAY'S VR6... E's have, not F's, 1-20 that is, almost every other number above 20 has been released as they came into play Would F4YVR not be a nice short straight to the point plate? :) yes you're right, but more expensive I'd have thought and since my rado chews something up as soon I even think about spending money on him............
