  1. Yeah, he's not hugely technical but he's not afraid to drive hard on those roads and that's what we all want to hear... the noise! I think he usually knows more about the American machines, and coffee. Every video plugs something or other, used to be coffee. This time it appears to be an app.
  2. I like Matt and the One Take stuff he does, shame the other guy in this video is so annoying! Car acquitted itself well though. Looks a little slow on the film compared to some of the other car's he does.
  3. Good to see this car is still out there. Being used on a regular basis?
  4. Good luck mate. I managed to get my VR back, but I was in regular contact with the new owner so that made things easier...
  5. Mate! Glad to hear you're all OK. Cars can be replaced etc. etc. Sounds like the Corrado is running well though, and I can definitely sympathise with spreading yourself thin with vehicles. I've just sold my daily and now cycling to work to justify other toys in the garage.
  6. Wow, that's a great update. Loving the work so far mate, it's going to be a cracker once done. I do love a red rado as well... Although the manifold sits on the studs, do the ports line up? If that's all ok and the gaskets seal could you do an little port matching and then put it on?
  7. Turning the ignition on I get lights on the dash, I can hear the fuel pump prime. Not sure on adaption but I can check that tonight.
  8. I hate all wiring, which unfortunately means I'll probably not look at this again until I can get some help.
  9. I wish I'd retained the original engine. The 24v conversion is great, but if I could go back I should've just rebuild the 12v..... The wonder of hindsight, eh?
  10. Haha! It is being troublesome, yes... It's got the same symptoms as before, so I guess it's immobiliser or starter. A call to Crazydave this morning suggests starter solenoid so I'll try that next. The one good thing is that the weather is awful here today so at least I don't have to let it get wet....
  11. Not running again. If anyone would like a nice (ish) 24v converted rado please let me know.
  12. Nice. Just seen this on FB, loving the standardish front end.
  13. Haha! Did you raise the front in the end? Mine has worn through the arch liners, but I just can't bring myself to raise it....
  14. Spotted by my wife this morning on Bottisham High Street. Aqua Blue, N36 UCF she thinks. Anyone?
  15. Haha! It was the old case of get it running then turn everything off and tuck it back up in the garage. I'll run it over the weekend if the weather improves. It needs a really good run.
  16. It's yours Jim, claim it! So am I mate. I was worried it was the immobiliser but after a bit of fiddling it starter a treat. Bit of luck really as I had a test ride on a new motorbike on Saturday... maybe it got worried and decided to play ball!
  17. So I changed the ignition switch last night, and we have a running car! Not sure it was actually the switch though as I ended up pulling all the relay's at the same time and giving them a check over. Either way.... it's working which is a bonus.
  18. The one in Cambridge is ok but you have to really check you're getting the correct part and the website is full of errors. In the past I've been a gsf fan but now my nearest is miles away. Local TPS is very good, and they love it when I turn up in the rado. Not as cheap though.
  19. I'm not surprised by all this. It's clearly the mature, thinking mans VW classic.... Or, irrespective of age, we're all a bit nuts...
  20. I'm hoping not. I'm useless with wiring so if it's something to do with the immobiliser it might be staying in the garage for a while!
  21. No, but I'm not getting anything at all. If it was the starter I'd expect at least a click from the solenoid so I'd discounted that. I'll give that a whack as well.
  22. So I pulled the relays, can't see anything obvious, checked the starter motor etc and the wiring. Can't see any particular issues although the 24v motor does block a bit of access to the engine bay. Bitten the bullet and purchased an ignition switch from VW. Will try that tonight....
  23. I'm 36, had mine just over 10 years. Feels longer....
  24. There's camping on the Saturday evening I believe. That's what I'll be doing if there is.
  25. My uprated loom did this. As stu said, plug the original loom back in and if it all works you'll probably need some new relays.
