  1. ^^ Very much appreciated. Those would be a nice finishing touch.
  2. Im the same, i've seen far too many H & J plate ones which are a complete mismatch of early interiors and late exterior. I favour the early look myself with the more detailed grill and set back fogs/indicators. OP - Nice car
  3. Mine is still a work in progress. It's just missing the coolant expansion bottle, the battery and the fan/cover is not in place. Does anyone know if it is possible to buy brand new PAS reservoir and screen wash bottles??
  4. I began cleaning up the new (to me) exhaust system that I collected yesterday and stripped my newly acquired back axle ready for powder coating. Just need to sort some new brake flexis and wheel bearings and i'l have everything needed to build it back up with all new bits. Also sourced a spare G60 head which will be ported & polished before having uprated lifters/tappets ready for a cam (undecided which one yet) and that will be put on next winter. Just about to order a new shiny set of bolts from this site so that my front end refresh is complete.

    Bargain?

definitely not a bargain once it's been freshened up and made road legal i can see thousands more being spend.
  6. ^ thanks :-) Yep with the exception of the slam panel respray I have done everything else myself and on the drive, which is partly why it is taking so long. I booked a couple of days off weeks ago to work on the car and by the time the days came the weather had changed and car was under 8 inches of snow. The car cover had literally frozen to the paint so I was too scarred to touch it. Anyhow, yesterday was a productive day. I got my self a complete back axle which will be stripped/powder coated and have new bushes & brakes prior to being fitted. I also got myself a Ray Metallfabrik full exhaust system including decat and a 4 branch manifold, yes I wanted to keep the car mostly original but my god once its been polished it is a sexy bit of metal work and with a 4.5inch x 3.5inch oval end piece it is factory "look" and fits the gap in the rear bumper perfectly.
  7. ^ Helen yours looks fantastic, you say you are in Penarth - so yours might be the one i saw in Cardiff years ago?
  8. Cheers for clarifying. The over run can be removed and soaked in petrol to clean it out prior to refitting, the same goes for all the rubber pipework around the air box. When you refit it make sure you get a good seal, if the over run is lose then it can cause all sorts of odd running problems. If you look at the front of the block just above the oil filter housing you will see the breather pipe from the block , follow it up to the just under the inlet manifold and then it goes into the side of the air box - this pipe is the trouble maker!!!
  9. ^ If you confirm which engine you have it will be easier to explain. On 16v there is a breather from the front of the block which has an additional pipe from the head which then goes into the side of the air box - this is often what causes the air filter to be caked in oil on one side. This pipe can be removed and the hole in the air box plugged. On my 16v golfs I then run the pipe into a catch tank (a pikey method was a 500ml coke bottle with some holes in it as the top opening is nearly exactly the same diameter as the breather pipe) which i then attached to the side of the radiator. Being a clear bottle you could see how much oil was being blown out of the sump - baring in mind my engine had over 200k on it there was a fair amount!!
  10. ^^ Haha well spotted the red one ( a Saracen Xess that I resprayed in red oxide) donated it's saddle to the DDG and it's not been replaced yet. I only built that bike the other day out of spare parts for a mate to borrow when we went to the Forest. The blue GT is a 1999 Arrowhead, my first bike I bought with my own money, my parents thought it was "silly" spending £300 on a bike when an Argos one was £90 but it's survived 14 years where as most Argos bikes don't last 14 minutes. It's a road/pub bike now and my bro (mrginge on here) uses it for work. I also have a 1992 GT Pantera frame which is from the days when GT frames were still hand made in the USA.
  11. I only have a CAT 2 immobiliser on my Corrado and that has been deemed acceptable for years.
  12. After the huge disappointment of not having the car ready last year and the last minute crap with having the wrong headlights and not being able to MOT the car i have now sourced a perfect set of headlights and all the other lights so that i have a full set of unchipped/cracked lights for the front end. Got rather lucky on Ebay an found a unused Corrado G60 subframe for less than what i was going to pay to have mine powder coated. It will also have all new bushes and new engine mounts prior to fitting and will be joined by the new suspension components already purchased. Hopefully if everything works out i should have a rather nice looking stainless steel exhaust and decat and a rear axle (which will be rebuilt) this weekend. Then a rather large box from a well known VW parts specialist with new discs & pads plus flexis all round. Last on the list is to repaint the boot floor/spare wheel well, remove and paint all the heat shields for the exhaust and repaint the fuel pump housing and do a fuel filter and the underside ought to be as good as new. Fingers crossed it should be ready soon.... so long as i dont get shafted like last week when i booked a couple of days off and it snowed :-(
  13. I'll have to keep an eye out or tag along when you go to the Forest of Dean, I've been up there quite a few times recently with a few mates as we are trying to get more committed to biking again. I'm only just starting to know my way around so it would be good to pickup some extra local knowledge. heres my little collection, The DDG is/was the best for hammering the trails around the FOD but after renting one of the Trek Remedys from Pedal Away i had to go full sus so this is my latest toy. I didn't want a full blown 6-8 inch travel DH bike as frankly I don't need that amount of travel plus the geometry of the howler is so like a small hardtail its is a blast to chuck about.
  14. You must have been the chap I saw in Nailsworth last Thursday afternoon, you came out of Morrisons just in front of me and headed off onto the Avening road. I was behind you but in my works car so you'd only have thought some nutter was wrongly flashing his lights at you!! Very nice car, it looked remarkably clean given the awful weather we have had!
  15. very interested in a set of headlights if you can get pictures and a price
  16. finally, some new parts. It's been ages since I updated this as i have been collecting parts and building a mk2 Polo bready with my bro http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=270397&st=0 After waiting patiently a chap in the U S of A was able to assist me on ebay.com to get some items posted. Things coming up next: - Weitec 30mm springs - Koni TA shocks - new brakes, refurbed callipers - all new suspension, steering and ARB bushes/arms/mounts - removal of fuel tank & back axle. - paint the rear underside section of the car - decat It will probably end up being more as my objective is to maintain the car to a high standard. ---------- Post added at 12:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:39 AM ---------- Here is the engine bay after a lot of cleaning. The rocker cover and other components have now been polished. I still need to sort a piece of pipe to link the charger outlet to the intercooler but im hoping Forge can help me out there. In the meantime I will keep it stock in order to run the engine for the MOT.

    cheap coilovers

I can only echo what KIP has said. I have used Koni TA shocks with 30-60mm springs from koni/Spax/apex on my last half a dozen mk2s and have always found them to be about as close to perfection without getting custom shocks/springs. I'm currently building some more Koni TA with Weitec 30mm springs for my G60 as i was impressed by the Weitec shocks/springs combination that my brother had on his mk2 golf. My brother also has a corrado VR6 with FK Koni sport coilovers and the ride is good, it performed excellent around Castle Combe and copes with the majority of UK pot holes but could probably do with being a tad softer for daily use. I also made the mistake of thinking some TA technics coilovers would be a good idea on my mk2 golf - they lasted for 2 weeks before I sold them and put the Konis back on. I sold them to a mate who put them on his mk2, we used to go for drives and my god the way the back end of his car used to bounce around due to a severe lack of dampening was ridiculous!!!
  19. This sounds like the sensor which is on the drivers side of the fuel rail, it is a single pin brown wire. Check that it is connected and if it is not cover the end with some insulation tape to stop it earthing and see what happens.
  20. Justa quick update to say many thanks to Rod for sorting me a slam panel and the headlight loom - much appreciated :-) Dave
  21. HI, If anyone is breaking a car at the moment would they mind lopping off the headlight block connector (that goes into the back of the headlight) plus say 6 inches or so of wire. THANKS Dave

    US corrado

THIS My US Corrado has been in the UK for most of it's life and always had the side markers set up as side repeaters to get through the MOT.
  23. Is this car still around and being broken? Need a slam panel
