Little update. RC's are sold, as is the exhaust. Should have the new wheels in a week or so. New exhaust should be going on next week. I was clearing out some stuff and found some ye olde photos of my cars and thought Id put up my Corrado history on here. Its not exactly exciting but Im bored and cannot be arsed watching idiots on TV. First up was a 2l 8v Mreg which I have no photos of bought in 2001. That had a remap and Sebring exhaust. Traded that for a white G60 which was completely standard, 2001. Then came the 1.8 16v which had an exhaust and exhaust cam / intake mod, 2003. Then came the 2l 16v which was basically standard, as well 2003 and finally the VR 2007.

Took it off the axle stands its been sitting on for a while, backed it out the garage then back in again after fitting my towbar to the Mk4. A V6 with no exhaust does not sound as good as I thought it would.

Looks so much better with the Sebrings on.

Whats made you go for a techtonics mate? I have a techtonics on now aswell, and I'm also in Aberdeen if you wanna have a look anytime! Was looking at them as there seem to be a bit of praise for them. Next progression for me would be a S/C so it should help with that. That and its the look I was after.

I had one on my car when I picked it up and I didnt have a problem but it was only on for about 1000miles after which I fitted a BMC.

You will have to loosen the middle section of the exhaust of maybe even take it off. The CAT is held on by 3 bolts to the downpipe. If they have been on a while then they will most likely snap when you try to undo. Get 3 new bolts and a gasket from the dealers before taking the old one off. Apart from that it is farily easy as long as you dont mind lying under the car.

People who like to think their cars are great but aren't.

Well it was a scrap dealer so he should have seen plenty in his time. -
Techtonics, 8) . Dont think it will make too much difference but luckily its the same RR and it the only change to the car so it should give a decent comparison.

I took a Magnex off at the weekend and it was a piece of piss. Been on for 2years and came of no bother. Still in very good condition after 20k or miles. Hopefully fitting a 2.5in system and getting the car on the RR next Sat to see if it makes any difference, Magnex is 2.25in.

METTALIC BLACK VR6 CORRADO STOLEN ON FRIDAY NIGHT
coullstar replied to Timbo's topic in General Car Chat
What are your door pins like i.e. can you get a loop under them to pull them up? Could they have used the old coat hanger to open the door, open the bonnet and turn off the alarm? Good news though. Did you report it stolen to your insurnace? -
If going grey do this below. I had some reps that I did matt dark grey and I didnt really like it. It makes the wheels look too small and cheap.
-
and I'll be your fire support

Looks like a real nice finish. Good to see it coming back together, I bet you are so bloody careful around the car just now. One thing though I dont think the black centres work that well now for some reason. Light grey or even back to silver would look brilliant.

I prefer it though, small throttle openings for some decent pace. 290bhp is bloody good, is it a Mk4 or Mk5 engine? Decat?

METTALIC BLACK VR6 CORRADO STOLEN ON FRIDAY NIGHT
coullstar replied to Timbo's topic in General Car Chat
Bugger. Always amazes why they would steal older cars nowadays unless it was a spur of the moment thing. No glass or anything? I keep an eye out on local forums and ebay for parts popping up so I'll see if anything turns up. Was there anything distinguising about the exterior or interior? -
Very nice. The 24v does have a very sensitive throttle compared to the 12v. I still find myself kangarooing some times in traffic.

I took my exhaust off at the weekend and it would appear that the hangers (twin bar and rear) on it are specific to the exhaust. I dont have the original ones and will need them to fit the new exhaust. Has anyone photos of the standard hangers so I can double check? This is my current exhaust, its a Magnex as far as I am aware so is it likely to have these specific hangers? If anyone is interested I will probably be selling it on.

:( Didnt realise that. Thanks. Guess 2nd hand there going to keep there price then and there wont be much out there for a good few years.

Well done, its is great feeling when all the hard work comes together. Do you know what the waiting list on the Scirocco R20 at the moment?

As with any paint its all about proper preparation. If you want a flawless finish then get them powdercoated and dont muck about with rattle cans. Ive done a heap of wheels now. You can get a good finish for about £40 I reckon, the cost of one wheels to be powdercoated. The key is light sanding between each stage to slowly create the smooth finish you want from the lacquer. It does take a little practice though.

Living in the personal reg capital of Britian (Aberdeen) Ive started to really dislike them. Especially those folk that have thier initals then put there name on the bottom of the plate. :brickwall:

Thats just lacquer damage. There has been little area where the lacquer has lifted and moisture has gotten underneath. This then causes localised corrosion which appears a milky colour. Only way to get rid of is remove the lacquer using Nitromors then polish out the corrosion.
