GruppeM one looks lovely but is it worth it for all that cash. No. -
Vortech charged VR or R32 engine conversion??

Your obvisouly not a tinkerer. Not matter what car or bike Ive had I have to change something, its just part of my nature. I dont think anyone on here is doing the 24v coversions as its apparently the latest coolest mod, thats one thing I like about this forum, it seems devoid of "silly" show cars. I for one saw it as keeping the character of the car i.e. not 1.8T yet enhancing the drivability of the car. You have to remember when the VR came out it was brilliant with good enginnering of the time but that was around 14yrs ago, you cant deny progress. The 12v is not a bad engine, as everyone has said, and does seem to adapt very well to FI but if it was ok why would VW spend all that money developing a 24v head for the newer models? -
Going to look at a Mk4 Golf 1.8T any bits 2 look for?

Not sure, it will be a 150bhp so a K03 i think. There are KO3s's which are the 180bhp and then K04's as used on the Leon Cupra R and S3. Its probably more complicated than that but I dont think Ive ever heard of turbo issues. -
I did just before i turned up my road. Fair enough but i think you'll struggle to ever get another Corrado in that condition, more people with Mk1's I would say.

Cam chain tensioner. I dont think it too common (plus mine was a different code engine) but it costs a few hundred to fix. Engine must be cold and it will do it for a few seconds then quiten down. -

As said if the belts and pump have been done thats it really. Check for a rattle at the top right of the engine (when viewed from the front) at start up. This is the CCT and I had mine go on the S3. Mk4 are prone for going through bushes IIRC. Very good everyday car though, just try and get an early one so you dont have to fork out on the higher tax. -

A turbo 4motion would be perfect as long as the handling is sorted. They are such a Q car. Almost wished id kept mine now and gone that route. IMO R32's try a bit to hard on the styling front. I would only look at an R32 etc if your 12v is buggered. I agree what people are saying about the 12v character but Im still happy I went 24v. -
Was behind you in town the other night. If its still in the same condition as before you should be expecting top whack, its a minter. Your not selling are you?
-
Yep, there easily better than the RS's.

Heres another couple I really like. Best one was the german Rothe tuned VR6 turbo with 17in BBS from a good few years ago.

Same thing happened to me the other week but luckily they didnt snap it off. I then came back from Norway on Wed to find that someone had dropped a plank of wood (I think) onto the car scraping the bonnet and passenger door. That goes to add to the front and rear bumper scrapes along with the dent in the rear panel which were there a week after getting the car. Unfortunately I think this is just part of living and parking in a city now. Was thinking of a full respray but not if this is going to happen.

Cool, love little bits of engineering like this. Just been doing a youtube search on a similar vain and stumbled on this. Looks like some forgot to tighten something!!! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=T4bn1WG5L ... re=related

Well Ive put the winter wheels on and changed the pads for some Pagid FR's. Whilst it was up on the stands I checked out the sump and its already taken a few scrapes but Im a bit worried about the dent in it. Just hope it hasnt damaged the oil pump. Going to fit an R32 one to replace to give some more clearnace as the front coilover adjusters were siezed. Makes sense in the long term anyway.
-
Is that not No2?
-
You bugger, I love those wheels on Corrado's. Personally I prefer them to the RS's. I think I probably prefer them to my RKII's in fact. 8.5in is pretty wide though.
-
Heres mine, only a slight red tint. I think the thin strips on the rears help matters. Dont like the ones that flash fully red. Agree with the aftermarket not fitting right. However Im starting to like the OE look again.

If you wait till tomorrow night Ill have some as thats what Ive just done.

Break it, I bagsy the wings!!!

Anyone else laying the Rado up for the winter?

I did this to a car a good few years ago for my brother and the biggest problem was damp on the inside. It actually started going mouldy inside. I was thinking of doing the same to mine this year but TBH Ive put a fair bit of money into the car and I want to use it all the time. Paintwork insnt too bad but Im willing to risk it. If I had a garage it would be staying in that when Im not using it.
