To late, twas sold yesterday. Showed the photos to my friend and he pointed out the plugs seem odd with regard to the electrode in that it appears to have a thick shroud. I cleaned them up and brought the car into work and there was no oil smoke. Going to change plugs and take it from there. Im pretty certian the bores are oval to some extent and I was going to change the engine at some point. Not overly bothered so I'll just run it till it gets really bad and look out for a 24v be it a 2.8 or R32. Would love to tacke it myself but I dont have a garage or access to one and I have the Golf as a daily so its not too bad.

2.9 rebore would most likely require new pistons which are mucho expensive. 2.8 rebore then I should be able to use my piston, assuming there ok, with new rings. I just feel that if Im going to much about like that then Id like to get away from the 12v however I cannot justify spending £2k+ on the car. Might even just break it :( .

My car is a 94 M coilpack version so therefore it shouldnt have the wire filter then going by what your saying although the head was from a different car (been polished and ported with new guides/stem seals etc). I take it Im basically looking at either a new 2.9, 2.8rebore or some other options like the 24v?

Well I think this tells the tale. All plugs are ok apart from...... No1 & 6. Assuming 1 and 6 is top left and bottom right when viewed from the front. Also Im assuming that the wire type gauze should be in the breather pipe?

Just spoken to a knowledgable guy I know and put some more light on this. Ive just recently put a standard airbox on in place of a cone filter and its been more pronounced since then. I did get a puff of smoke when sitting still and revving to 5500rpm. There is a slight ticking noise under load for the first minute or so when driving. Didnt rule out valve train but sounds more like bore ovality or maybe broken compression ring. Its a 2nd car and I did have plans for a 24v so I might just drive it till it pops. Replacement 2nd hand bottom end will just end up going the same way no doubt. Will try and check plugs etc tonight and get a compression test done first.

Right this was occasional but now pretty much everytime I go down a hill it does it. The car has a new brass guides and stems seals so I dont think its that. Only other thing I can think of is piston rings but should it not be doing it all the time with the rings? Not had a chance to get the plugs out as I dont have a lead removal tool yet.

Agree that for VR's you need the Speelines but they need spaced out to fill the arches. Ive had 15, 16 & 17in on in the last month and TBH theres not a huge difference in ride handling but ive got Koni coilvers. Did run lowver on the 15in though.

I was seriosuly tempted by these as I love the look. If you look in the Corrado section of Ed38 then there is a topic asking for these on a Corrado, they are grey though. Wheels above are TH lines and TH mono's.

Looks good, I take it there the 7.5in reps? Did you have to fit spacers at all and how close are the front wheels to the coils? Thats the colour I wanted and wish Id waited now.

Is always the same when new models come along, I remember everybody slating the Mk5 before it was out. Personally I think its great and will look a lot better in the flesh. It would seem to me to be one of those cars that will need very little done to it to make it very appealing, a bit like the Corrado.

I havent looked through this but its such a good move. Ive had a few VR's and a 4motion and the 24V engine is so much nicer. Its must be brilliant in a Corrado. If my VR eats itself then this is exactly what I want to do.

Quite like that.

Looks like a good one, no rust on tailgate so it must be one of the good ones.

Well I got some Speedlines and gave thema quick refurb. Been struggling to sell the LM reps so I thought putting them back to silver would help. Decided to try them on once painted and adjust the camber slightly, Im now keeping them as it looks to good. Theres a local guy to buy the RX-II's s that all good. Will keep the Speedlines for winter. Decided to take some pics. Cars running better but toe is needing set up. Only changes from now on will be under the hood.

The Montreal II's and Longbeachs look brilliant on the C.

Shit so they got that thing flying again. Probably the most haunting noise Ive ever heard when that thing takes off, never been so slack jawed in my life by the noise. Did I mention the noise!!!! Is it doing the show's this year? Nice car as well.

My hunt for a Corrado - the story so far!
coullstar replied to Purple Tom's topic in General Car Chat
I started off with an 8v Corrado as I was thinking the same then after owning it for about 3 months I wondered why I was paying through the nose on insurnace for a relatively slow car, went out and bought a G60. VR's are not really that bad on fuel at all plus they are rock bottom price right now due to the fuel prices etc. If your on a real budget get a 2l 16v as they are the best compromise. -
What does it feel like after the cams and remap?

MK3 VR6? - Mrs B has bought one!!!! Pics page 4

Unless you get a mint Mk3 Vr I wouldnt bother, they rust like a mofo. My old highline was completely standard and was pushing out 194bhp so they are quick. -
Dont like the interior either but then I dont like light coloured interiors on any car.
-
Oh yeah.  Er, I give up.... Both wrong
-
Yeah because an M looks so like an S :cuckoo: Looks tidy enough though, a clean and some new wheels and it will look ggod.

your opinion on my wide corrado (new paint job)

Its built for a purpose with some obviosuly good engineering gone into it. I love cars like this where inititally you think what the hell then find out more and all is forgiven. I would have kept it all white.
