Centres are actually dark grey, I was thinking about gold as I was trying to achieve the same sort of look as the BBS racing wheels with the matt finish to the centre. Gold is a bit bling though. TT looks good and suits the shape but there is already 2 going about up here plus I had someone wanting to buy so i let the go. Need the money after a bike crash on Sunday. Doesnt matter anyway as Ive taken them off and replaced them with these as I was really going for an OE look. Got them fully refurbed with very good tyres for a decent price. The car feels a bit better but doesnt look near as good. LM reps are now for sale.

Somebody has good taste. Dont think i will hear a better sounding engine. As for this topic Ive been driving a remapped Cupra R and then a remapped S3 for the last 6 months and there very addictive with the ease at which the produce the power. When i bought my VR recently it felt flat until 4k, almost like there is something wrong. Wouldnt want one in my Corrado though as they have no character. Very effcicient but its just to easy.

Ok, fair enough, never heard that before. You could always reloacte it.

Remove the carbon cannister (it will do nothing now) and sitck the cold air feed down there.

Did a bit of flying with the cadets and TBH I found it kinda boring. Even the aerobatics etc. I just never got a sense of speed from it. Good vid there (ironically from the Swiss) and I would love to get a low level fast jet ride. Bit of a plane geek if Im honest. Dont by a plane, get a motorbike and do trackdays...

What camber are folks running with low cars and wide wheels? I have 8x17in wheels with an effective ET of 30mm. The passenger side is fine with no rubbing but the driver side is rubbing. The drivers side front does not have the correct geometry so Im getting this set up on Tuesday. I thought about putting a few more degress than standard as i dont do a huge amount of miles in the car. Whats everybody else sitting at?

If you put up your car on a public forum you cannot expect everyone to like it. In MY opinion your car looks awful and youve ruined it. Just because your not following a trend doesnt make the car any better. Your clearly young and we all learn from our mistakes, I bet you look back in 5yrs and think the same. I'll get back to my lawn bowls.

Different is not always better :gag:

Well this year I started with a remapped Leon Cupra R and then swapped it for a sorted S3. Sold the S3 and bought my VR plus a Tdi Golf. Overall the Leon was the fastest in a straight line and reasonably well made but it did feel a tad cheap. The S3 had every option going and was 8yrs old but it felt like an very solid car plus mine has fully set up suspension so it handled amazingly. It was a very very quick A to B car. The VR is no where near as fast as either but as you all know they do have that something special. If either the Seat or S3 had been stolen/crashed I wouldnt have been majorly pissed off however if anything happens to the VR i will be fuming.

I understand that but it doesnt happen when its on the flat, only on a pronounced downhill section of road. Its using very little and TBH doesnt happen very often. I will check the plugs to see what they are like.
-
Shouldnt be as the head has been polished with new guides, seals and reseated valves. Surely it should do it all the time off throttle. Its only happening when going downhill.
-
Ive noticed that my VR puts out blue (oil) smoke from the exhaust but only in certain circumstances. It only seems to happen after coasting downhill for a decent amount of time (5+ sec) and then applying the throttle. Any other time the car is perfectly ok. I do have a slight oil leak but ive not yet traced it. Anybody any ideas on what it could be? Oil into the breather system? Currently sitting at 3/4 full.

Thanks for the replies. Im going to go for 16in instead as there someone else wanting my Comps. Two cars in this area with them on already so not too fussed.

Dont have tyres though.

Well got some new wheels. There 8in wide LM reps and to be slightly different I painted the centres dark grey. I had to fit 5mm spacers at the front however they are rubbing slightly so I think I will just sell them on. Strangly it on seems to be the drivers side thats rubbing on corners. Was going to raise the car but the adjusters are seized I think plus Ive got a set of TT Comps that I might put on instead.
-
Ive got a set of TT comps that I might fit to the car however it is running quite low. Do these wheels rub at all with 205/40/17 tyres?
-
Ive just fitted my new 8x17in ET35 with 205/40/17's. I had to fit 5mm spacers to clear the front brakes as they were rubbing on the carrier section closest to the wheel centre. The extra 5mm seems to be causing a little rubbing at the front and im not a fan of using spacers I am hoping to fit 312 front brakes in the not to distant future but my question is what are these like in terms of caliper clearance compared to my 288mm? Will I need bigger spacers, if I will then the wheels will have to go as I cannot stand rubbing.

Where do they fit in he market though? I just dont get the big coupe concept. The problem with Audi's is they are way over priced. My mum has just bought a A3 1.4 TFSI with S-line kit and she could have had a new Golf Gti instead. Ok there well made but are they worth the premium especailly as from my experince the dealers are worse than VW?
-
I have to agree with Jim. They just dont look right and I dont see where they fit in. They are just too big and the rear overhang is too big. Audi didnt get it quite right this time.

2 stroke and methanol is the future!!!
-
I believe they are Stilauto wheels which are decent quality. I will be selling them in the next week or so as I should be picking up the new wheels today.
-
Well as you can see from my sig Ive had every Corrado going apart from a VR....until now. Picked it up last week from Norwich and drove the 500 odd miles back to Aberdeen without a hitch. Its had a fair amount of work done on the engine with regard to chains, clucth etc. Ported and polished head with 6 branch, decat, Magnex and K&N which Im replacing with a standard-ish airbox. Currently running a Superchip but it not right for this set up so it needs remapped properly. Just managed to pick up some 268 Dougherty cams from a couple hundres beer token so I'll get them fitted before the remap. Just need a tidy up to make it mint. Its got a few other things like Koni coilovers, glass sunroof, black heated electric recaros. Plans are to replace some tired trim bits, upgrade the brakes, change wheels (new ones are coming), get some decent ARB's and get it running spot on. Its so good to have a VR again especially now its in a Corrado. Oh and ive added some pics of my addiction.
-
No wonder it looks mint, its only done 25, 000km. Thats silly low miles.

Any VR owners felt the need to get a 2nd car?
coullstar replied to Veearrhsix's topic in General Car Chat
Up until recently Ive always been a one car man however after selling the S3 I needed something to commute, comply with comapny car allowance rules and be able to tow my supermoto for the racing. I bought a 99 Golf Tdi and had money left over so I bought a VR. I wont be using the VR as a weekend car but Im not using it everyday and its sit in the centre of Aberdeen everyday so it isnt cotten wooled. Ive got a gixxer 750 for weekend fun as well as the KTM and maybe soon a YZ250 crosser for some bone crunching fun. I couldnt justify using the VR everyday but I do believe in using them and not just 2-3000miles a year.
