    The late Mk3 TDi's were not PD engines but they were pretty good running around 110bhp. I learnt to drive in my dads brand new version and it was fast enough.

    The 200 is probably the better car overall but I have never liked the jellymould styling at all. Head says 200, heart says Highline. The Mk3 is not a bad looking car at all if styled properly. It is be no means a bad looking car though.

    Nah, the snorkel actually supresses the noise so it probably wont work. go here - http://www.kf010a4571.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ Airbox drilling is in the downloads section. Picture two shows the snorkel tube.

    I changed that last post as the car would then have no way of inducting air. Blonde moment.

    I think an 8v golf uses the same snorkel.

    Mate if your gonna be driving a lot in snow then you dont want to be stiffeneing the ride plus you want to keep the sidewalls fairly deep. Low profile tyres with stiff suspension is the worst combo for driving in snow.

    Replace the snorkel. There is great big hole in the front of the airbox that the air is being inducted through if its not there. I found the same with mine and that a sensibly drilled airbox with snorkel in place was more subtle.

    Ive had both and the 2l is the better car. Not much in it mind but as said the 2l has the benefit of using normnal unleaded.

    I still have that mag and that is one lovely car. I think its a 1.9l G60 block running a KKK turbo from a Porsche, ~380bhp. I think its perfect TBH.

    Get some nice cheaper rims and spent the rest on handling/engine mods instead.

    Tried some of the 15w-50 Mobil 1 this weekend on a trackday and it was great. Temp were only slightly higher than norm and consistent throughout the day. The car also appeared to use very little oil at all.

    Most likely the wrong PCD. They were 5x112 I think.

    How can you not get it? Low down torque from the SC with high end power from the turbo. As said all the power and economy from a 1.4 compared to a 2l therefore cheaper insurance and tax. Its the perfect commuter car plus it wont sound like a tractor. Idea was used many moons ago on the Lancia Delta S4. That had about 400-500bhp from a 1.8!!
