Was working under the bonnet last night and noticed that there was a reasonably clean bare thread on a casting on the alt side of the engine. Should there be a bolt in place and what does it do?
-
Yep its got an airbag. Ive been told that I can get a resistor from Awesomegti to fool the car into thinking the airbag is still there.
-
Will a sterring wheel boss from a Corrado fit my Mk3?
-
Ok, cheers. Dont want to hassle him but I was just wondering why he wasnt responding to PM's.
-
In all seriousness did anything happen?
-
Has anybody heard from Jay Renshaw recently? I have Pm'd him a few times but I have had no reply. I realise he is busy with his car right now but he was ok at responding before going to Worstsee.

 Some of us have no choice.

Lovely. Thats the ex-premier car is it not. Twas in the Golf mag as well. I saw your old car down the beach front yesterday, looked good. I thought you were going for a Clio 182? Aberdeen really is the Corrado capital of Scotland. I miss mine already and its only been 2 weeks.

I do like the Passats when they are nice and low with clean styling. Strangely though I think the estates look even better.
-
Mike this is the best place you could have found for Corrado ownership. What wheels does it have?
-
Pics of the interior. Didnt really like leather before buts the luxury is growing on me.

I saw it up there yesterday. Getting some work done myself. Wheels looked a lot better in the flesh. -
About £4k after everythings sorted.

Yeah, they do look plain from some anlges but from other angles I think they look great. Its bizarre as it feels like driving a bus with all that headroom and the steering wheel is huge. Ive never been a fan of the 5dr but I think the black helps a lot and the noise makes up for it.

Well here is it. I basically had to sell my Corrado due to work etc, its a long story. VR Highline with the all the obligitary extras. TBH dont care much for the a/c as its not really needed up here in Scotland. Needs a few rust spots tidying and the wheels are pretty scabby. Spec: Engine - 50kmiles with FSH. Standard bar k&n panel with drilled airbox. Chassis - Bilstien Suspension (not coilovers), 6.5 x 16" BBS from Anniversery model with Eagle F1 all round. Exterior - Completely standard bar proper VR rear badge (which I am going to get) Interior - Standard apart from Sony MD player and 10CD stack. I really like it as it is, nice and subtle, but I was maybe thinking of an early VR front spoiler, all red rear Hella lights and maybe different fogs. Do you get the long fog lights that arent crystal? Also need to sort the gearknob & stereo. Any comments?

How do you go about selling the numberplate from your car and what do you have to do to get a new one? Also do you think P67 ASA is worth anything?
-
Better bloody do. Going to have to spend a few pennies getting the car to what it should be like and dont need this to add to the list.

Picked my Highline up tonight and there is no certificate of having the alarm fitted. The key fob has Conlog on the back and the previous owner said his insurance accepted that the Highlines have a CAT1 fitted as standard. Is this true? If so then what kind is it? I am not covered for theft otherwise.

I remember when my dad got one of the first Mk4 PD's and he gave me a shot when we picked it up. I was driving a Mk2 8v Gti at the time and just could not believe how quick it felt. I borrowed it to drive from Scotland to Milton Keynes and it was amazing but as soon as I got back in my GTi I knew I would never buy a diesel unless I had too. Wallet says yes but heart says no. Look nice. I would put a set of 17" Monte Carlo's on it. The standard wheels arent up to much.

See sig. Bit of luxury for a change. I wanted to keep the knob for some strange reason.

I thought about getting a more sensilbe car with good mileage but ended up buying a Mk3 VR. Its got 5dr mind. -
Yes I saw that post and they do look good. Dont really want to spend £50+ note on a gearknob though.
-
Oh er!! Gearknobs I mean. Picking up my new car on Sat and it has a nasty wood gearknob so I am looking for a nice replacement. The car is black and has black leather so I dont want anything that will stand out. I like the Mk4 knobs but they dont screw on like the Mk3's as far as I am aware. Please post pics of what you have.

Cheers mate (I assume its mine you were on about). I think he's a bit far away to come and check it out though.

What I do is get a 22mm socket and grind two flats either side so you can fit an adjustable on. You then use an 10mm allen key through the socket and hold that using a 10mm socket and handle that you get in the socket set. The allen key holds the piston and alloes you two undo the top nut. If its the slotted nut there is a special tool avialable but I just use springs compressors to take spring pressure of the top[ plate and the slotted nut is then fairly loose and will undo.
