  1. I would have loved to have seen it, IIRC its was an 8v with turbo from a Volvo. Full cage, brakes etc. Ive bought some OE brake ducts and Ive been thinking about using the spare fogless lights that i have sitting about. I ran them on the VRT during track days to get some cool air into the bay. I might buy some of that grill mesh and bond it onto the hole so they look like lights from a distance (or at least no gapping holes) and to stop larger bits of debris. I may duct one into the airbox and the other onto the oil cooler. Aim is to keep the car as near stock as possible or at least easy to convert back yet able to take some track abuse.
  2. Agree, I did about 8000miles in mine with basically no issues at all. And that was a hard 8000miles of 1bar.
  3. FAIL. Not bad though, bulge in front flexi and front sidelights not working. Must say the new front mount is a lot better. Ive tried the headlight switch with a new one so it isnt that, for the parking lights. Maybe its the bulbs themselves if they are seperate. I cant remember as its that long since I replaced bulbs on a Corrado! I'll just fit the 288's I have now if im going to have to replace the front hose. Then its short shift. Picking up the RC's today with the new tyres and they will get a lick of paint. First time Iv driven the car in a month or so and its amazing how right they feel straight away.
  4. How many miles do you do? I loved me VR for the reason the guy gave. I would say Ben is painting a slightly worse picture than in reality but I also know what he means. I would happily have used mine everyday and you can do. If your just poolting about then a standard VR isnt exactly the best car either. You just use the car progressively as you would any other car and to be honest you dont need to give the car the beans that much anyway as in 90% of situations in the power is more than enough. Whenever I thought about selling mine I went for a blast and soon realised I couldnt sell. To be honest I have had a lot of cars over the years but my VRT is the only one Ive ever regretted selling, almost bought it back recently as well and would have done if I didnt have my RS4. As for driving in the wet again its all about being progressive and I never had any real issues. The Traction control would help but even from driving my 24v car they have similar issue, to a certain extent, as they torque comes in low down as well. You learn how to drive them. Not easy but best thing is to see what each car is like. I would say 80% of the time an R32 conversion will be the same if not slightly better than a VRT but its that last 20% that makes you laugh out loud when you drive it that made it for me.

    1.8T Syncro

Was that owned and built by someone on here? There should be a good thread build on it.
  6. Looks brilliant, kick myself everytime I see those Compo's on cars.
  7. Nah keep to the same width all round. You'll be lucky to find a set of with different widths. Id keep the D90's and do the centres in a light grey colour if it were me. If you do want to go OE 16's how about 4motion alloys? Have a look through my 24v build thread (in my sig) as I tried loads of different wheels including the RXII's and 4motions.
  8. There are two versions. Mk4 were 6.5in and Mk3's were 7in. 6.5in are more common. Generally corroded around the rim and bolts and the bolts can be a mare to get out if you want to split. There nice when done right.
  9. Cool. Some people not taken to the modified bit I presume. There will always be those that like to keep as is, as long as those cars are about I dont see a problem with modified versions.
  10. Looks to be about 4-5 definites at the moment. Remember its not just the meet, the VW trackday will be going as well so there will be some other nice machinery to look at and watch pound round the track. Lets start a list: 1. Coullstar 2. BillCor 3. Kirade 4. Seafar99
  11. Yeah I saw them. Let me know guys.
  12. Some progress today. Front mount changed to Rendshaw type then decided to tackle the thermostat. First time Ive done one, wasnt that bad but need to test it out on the morning as I ran out of time. Raking through my bits I found new blue & yellow temp sesors plus OE thermo cap and other bolted cap so they were replaced. Managed to get a good deal on some Pirelli P-zero nero's so I will get them on the RC's next week. They will be silver now and I will run them with VW badges in the small centre I think. I think I'll bin the rear wiper as well as the jet id not working and the blade is cut. MOT on Wed so fingers crossed but all seems fine so should pass.
  13. All that work and mis-matching rear tyres.......
  14. Use some de-ox gel before painting to get the rust from the pitted parts.
  15. Looking for a set of the OE front brake cooling ducts that fit into the arch liners.
  16. Good to see your cracking on. Thats always the problem with buying a modifed car from someone you dont really know. Thier perception of what is okay is possibly not another persons. That the reason when I bought my current one it was completely stock and had not been mucked about with. If you mean 1st gear is difficlut to be smooth with thats a trait of the pedal / engine set up.
  17. Its fine didnt take it like that :). I would love to come down especially to mee everyone and get a blast round Combe.
  18. I wasnt either but cant give up the whole weekend Im afraid.
  19. Auto close is part of central locking system. Leave a window and sunroof open then close the car using the keys in the door (keep the key turned) and it will close them all.
  20. Some random photos from yesterday, more as a diary for me to be honest. Sticking with standard airbox. On the look out for some brake ducts and a Mocal now as well. Decided to use my favourite Mk2 as inspiration so the RC's are going to be done in white.
  21. Cool, I just realised its the same day as the National day down at Combe but thats 500miles away. We could have our own mini version. Im aiming for this to get the car ready for the track. There is plenty of room so we should be able to get all parked up together. At least with the track action there is other things to do / watch.
  22. Cheers but I was going to replace the chrome ones as I prefer them. Thats what I had on the RC on the green car and think it worked well. For the price of the small caps I'll try them first. Sanded the lips down and they look okay now. Managed to get the sump and filter done today but realised the oil i bought ages ago was diesel specific, dumbass.
