    Seat Wobble

Never heard of it. Is that smaller than a Leon? Nice name for a car.. ;)
  2. The after run circuit is on a timer, it's only supposed to run for 10 minutes (I think) after ignition off, so no matter what the rad sensor says, the fans should stop. I'm not certain where the timer circuit is, but I'd guess it's in the control module under the bonnet, the black box with three fuses in it.
  3. My dealer doesn't like ordering parts, true enough, but at the time, I do believe there were none in the country. I tried several dealers and many of them called head office and reported the same thing. That situation may well have changed now. It was early in the new year, classic time when radiators go due to the extreme temperature cycling so perhaps they just ran out?
  4. Hmm, you should probably make sure you don't have any air locks..
  5. As I understand it, the ECP ones aren't too bad. The GSF ones are terrible, and the VAG ones are only sporadically available. (I was told there was an indefinite wait for back-order from germany when I needed one.) The only drawback with the non-VAG ones is they don't come with the plastic elbow pipe pre-attached at the top, so you have to hope you can get the old one off without breaking it or it's housing.
  6. When cold it's running uber-rich, overfuelling always makes it run smooth. When it warms up it's trickling the bare minimum of fuel in to prevent it from stalling, everything has to be in absolutely perfect condition to make it run right in those conditions.
  7. Re: run-on fans vs ignition on fans .. Two *completely* different circuits. The run-on circuit obviously thinks the fans should be "on" during this time, but the ignition-on fan control thinks it should be "off". In fact, the run-on circuit can't control the fans separately from the aux water pump, so if it's keeping the water pump on it has no choice but to keep the fans on too. Like mr StrawFlex said, forget it, just drive the bloody thing.
  8. Remove the catalyst .. or save fluffy bunnies. The choice is yours.. ;)
  9. Not good for cars with catalysts ... :)
  10. I guess the two on the chain end must be facing directly down in the pic, I'd assumed they were bearings not cams ... :)
  11. Which is odd, because it looks like there's 12 cams there .. ?!

    Brakes

Sounds like you've got an ABS sensor problem. Did you replace the ABS sensor wheel at the same time?

    K&N Confusion

I fitted a K&N to my VR and noticed no difference in the performance whatsoever. It just got louder..
  14. It rings a bell. But I don't believe it's a cheap fix. Dig around on the search, I think we've seen similar problems before. IIRC there's a bunch of sensors inside the auto box that should tell it when it needs to change up, and they can fail. It's a whole box stripdown to replace them, too .. :(
  15. Sourcing a bearing is trick #1. Fitting it without destroying the pulley is the big trick. YMMV..
  16. It's not uncommon for newly fitted tyres to be not correctly balanced, so I'd get them checked again as a first step.
  17. That sounds a pretty reasonable conclusion, yes ...
  18. Does your aftermarket lead support the dual-k line stuff? Don't you need that for the 24v "proper" OBD2 kit? I'd be inclined to say that it's your cable most likely, but I guess you can't just swap it for another ...
  19. Brake calipers should only be painted red if you *are* a world rally champion. Everyone else should leave them black or metal coloured...
  20. "error code" and "unable to connect" are not compatible statements - if you can't connect to the ECU, how can it send you an error code?
  21. I think the Golf 3 VR6 had those same 288mm brakes under it's factory-fit solitudes.
  22. There's several different manifold designs, iirc. There's been various threads on vwvortex about it. But the thing that determines whether it's an OBD1 or OBD2 is the throttle body mount position and style. I can't tell from your photo which yours is ..
  23. That's surprisingly cheap. The bumper alone is ~ £700 and that's plain and unfinished.
  24. Storms were fetching greater than list shortly after the end of production, yes. But list price on the Storm was a fair bit more than an equivalent VR too..
