Quick question, anyone know what the correct name for the spring clips that hold the hoses on in the engine bay or better still know where to get the tool from or what the tool is called?
-
if its been running fine with the idle screw as is i wouldnt touch it. have a look round the engine bay and check for any air leaks, to test if its the isv just unplug it and run it for a day without it plugged in see what happens. is the performance of the car any different or is it literally its idle?

the wire should be tight-ish, the same tension you have on the drivers side. and im wondering how you get into the bonnet if only one side works. now im not sure about this because i dont own a corrado anymore but i think the nipple needs to be on the other side of that metal as it needs to pull the catch open, if that is that catch itself. otherwise the nipple really isnt doing anything at all

econis, are you putting an r32 or a 2.8 in? i think you need a little bit of cutting to fit the aircon pump in, its the auxillary water pump you need to remove. i was unsure about the automatic gb as well as it is tiptronic so didnt know whether the ecu was different or be mapped different. I've heard the 24v downpipes are a direct fit on the LHD cars but dont quote me on that, if you have one lying around try it before spending a load of cash getting one made up. If you want to remove 2 lambda sensors you will need your ecu remapped to remove them as it will not run properly if it still thinks there are 4 lambda sensors. As i havn't actually done the conversion this is just from research i've done though! hope this helps though!

That has been taken off pistonheads now, but it was phonesafe, which is basically pistonheads giving you a private number that diverts to your chosen number rather than posting your mobile or home number on the net for everyone to see. not sure if that means it is a con and premium rate number or if it is just pistonheads phonesafe thing, would be good to have some clarification on that if anyone knows?

oh god, dont get me started on those mk2 owners that call corrado parts rare, these 'ultra rare' corrado seats with custom one off never to be made again subframes. just because no-body is selling them at the time doesnt make them rare, its like saying a corsa is rare because nobody is selling one at that particular moment in time.

haha, spot on pianowire/cheesewire (not sure when that happened). theres a club near me called vuu cult, and alot of my friends used to go to meets so i thought id pop along to see what the fuss was about in my suzuki swift (old shape with some discreet mods) with my friends escort, and we do not speak like scum, look like scum or act like them, but didn't get the time of day off anyone. they ripped into my friend for even bringing his escort to a car park, i thought what a bunch of stuck up tossers. so having always wanted a corrado i bought one, next time i attend its like i've been reborn a new person. I mean really whats the problem? but thats a totally different argument. I do go off topic quite a bit, but i think im just annoyed at the whole 'scene', the scene tax, the overprice of everything, the 'if your not known you have no say' attitude. i spend most of my time on here, i do stray from time to time for inspiration but never post anything because its unlikely ill get a productive response.

Firstly i have to apologise for my ranting, but im getting fed up and hearing everything is 'rare', the word seems to become so frequently used that its rare to see something that isn't rare. I go on e38 and to me everything looks the same, theres about a thousand bbs rm's, or rc's or whatever they are called. granted they are very nice wheels but for some reason the word rare pops up and the £300+ scene tax is added. there is alot of complete tat which need full refurbs yet still are selling for £700 or something daft. Its really bugging me now, my friend went on e38 to try get a UJ boot (i think ) if someone had one lying around. He was told they are 'rare' and someone would sell him it for £50, so getting a bit irritated like me with this rare word on to gsf he went and it was £20. I know people are out to make money, i totally understand but what i dont understand is why do soo many people pay it in the first instance!!! Its same with mk1 and mk2 golfs, there are soo many lovely restored examples. i mean people really go to town on them but how do the sheds manage to fetch over 1k for a car that is rotten, looks a state, has no MOT or tax and needs a full restore. I mean i've wanted a mk1 or mk2 escort for years and wish i had the money to buy one but they are bloody expensive because everyone wants them for rally cars and are actually getting rare from soo many getting written off. But with soo many mk1 golfs getting restored, why does it cost soo much for a shed? Im sure ill get flamed for this but i needed to have a good rant

Is your Corrado the most unreliable car you've ever owned?
swiftkid replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
in a word... yes. although for some reason i have the urge to buy another one. talk about glutton for punishment -
G60 2 years on, engine out because i was bored

No KAD its a corrado not a polo  very nice though, im glad to see people who care for these cars are getting hold of them and doing things right regardless of cost. -
agree with leonard, if i recall correctly the VR rear axle is slightly wider than other Rado's/MK2 Golf's. Shocks will fit but VR's weigh a bit more than other models so the suspension isn't setup for it.
-
100% certain it is, it sits underneath the throttle body, if you look behind there you should see the thread still intact where its snapped off
-
i use shoe polish theres some cheapy back to black from asda that works magic as well
-
the corrado is lighter than the mk3 golf, at least im pretty sure it is. the mk3 golfs weigh tonnes and in my opinion are alot slower than the rado. my 1.8 16v rado easily kept up with an abf 2l 16v mk3 golf, both pretty much standard. i would advise going 2l 16v and doing the cam swap as its an easy modification and i think (someone please correct me if im wrong) they have around 160bhp after that mod depending on the condition of the engine. although i've always wanted to drive a g60 id maybe just test drive to see what you think because you can never tell what a car is like from letters and numbers, unless it says 900bhp in which case you have a pretty good idea.
-
my 1989 1.8 16v had a cat. the 2 litre has more restrictive cams than the 1.8 but if you swap the cams from the KR (1.8 16v) it gives it alot more power. my 1.8 valver did 0-60 in around 8 seconds depending on how i was driving if my memory serves me correctly. i wouldnt worry too much about 0-60 times because it depends on the pickup of speed on the car, for eg a turbo may have a slower 0-60 than a n/a due to turbo lag, doesnt mean the turbo car is slower, id look at torque curve compared with weight and bhp if your looking for performance. hope that makes sense anyway...

ahh booo, was reading another topic about an ISV and must have been in ISV identify mode :( well you got your answer anyway! :)
-
the ISV is on the right hand side of the engine, just next to the rocker cover. i cant remember off the top of my head but i think it should have a plug at the back, a pipe coming off it on the bottom and the front. its right at the top of the engine bay so you cant miss it. excuse the pistonheads link, i just found it easiest to find a pic of engine bay. ISV circled in red
-
from what i've read, the r32 engine fits in without any problems but the 4motion engine needs to be lowered to clear the bonnet strengthening bars. loverly looking corrado, makes me undecisive on if i want a red or blue VR like yours
-
on the back of the throttle body there is a plug with 3 wires, check it is connected and in good condition. Otherwise unplug your ISV for a day and see if it cures it, might jus need cleaning with carb cleaner. thats what used to happen with my old valver
-
yes, if you start off low revs opening the throttle straight away open the throttle body fully then it will cause it to bog as it is overfuelling. its not a problem jus the engine doesn't like that much fuel being chucked into the engine at low revs, its often known as heavy foot syndrome edit: thinking about it, if its excessively bad could be the mixture being wrong on the co screw, which can be adjusted but i'd maybe do some research before fiddling

fully restored mk2 escort running cosworth engine and all uprated brakes, suspension and then spend every penny i had on goodies for it. or bmw e30 m3

£500 for a non running, non MOT'd, non Tax'd car thats been sitting for approx 4 years... hmm, if you have a bit of time and money maybe good idea but bare in mind it could end up costing you a hell of alot, will maybe need new shocks, new bushes, new discs, near bearings, new tyres, possibly some welding if its rotten and thats off the top of my head. Best of luck with it, you'll have to get some pics up of it! -
this is the one time i wish the Decepticons would come and beat the crap out of it.

Right oh knowledgable ones!!! im after some advice, i've been thinking of starting a 24v project for a while but would prefer 3.2 over 2.8 if i can, just to be an awkward git. Thing is, seeing as im young (22) and very much doubt i'll be able to do anything like this in the future i want to do it right so full tt dash as well with all working extra's. I will be buying a car for donor parts, but think r32 is out of my price range for a salvage car, so its either 4motion or audi tt 3.2 i dont want to do any wire cutting if not necessary, so im wondering if the wiring loom in the mk4 will mate upto the tt dash or if it will need splicing to fit. been considering an audi tt 3.2 car as a donor car, but is that engine the same as the r32?

I used to run 9" on the rear with 215 tyres, i had coilovers so i just lifted them and had no problems, as majik says they may rub depending on your drop but my god they do look amazing!!! i would definately advise to get the arches rolled so you can keep the car lower
