the cam followers are hydraulic so yes they will need to fill up with oil before they set right. but that won't stop the cams from moving, that would just mean the valves would be in a different position. have you tried putting the cams in a bit slacker and trying to move them? i had this problem on one of my engines and i just slackened off the cam covers fractionally. have you also made sure all the cam holders are in the right order and right way round?
-
the cams will move a bit forward and backwards, im not sure how much clearance the valves have when pistons are all at same height. sounds to me like the cam is too tight in place. try loosening the bolts a little and try again
-
take the cam cover off, loosen all the bolts a bit to see if its makes it easier to turn the cams check the timing, have you timed the cams and the cam belt (the cams have 2 dots on the gears, they should be able to meet horizontally in the middle, if they don't the cams are in wrong position) take the spark plugs out to see if that makes it any easier

*gets in his VR6 without an engine* BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM, BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM... lol apparently all this downfall is perking up a bit though, and from what i've heard i doubt they will be shutting completely. fingers crossed at least!

first one to karman factory gets the 16vg60!!!

the engines as far as i know are pretty good, don't go near them around the 90k mark from what i've heard, they need cam belts, water pumps, turbo's, rebuild etc about that age. to be honest i only know this as i was looking at buying an s3 and not doing an engine conversion so im sure there are more knowledgable people about. i would hazard a guess they are all the same engine but different turbo, management and injection systems. the normal cupra engines are 180bhp but it says that in the link i sent you.

http://www.qpeng.com/faqs/engine_faqs/a ... _mean.html hope that helps, the bam (late audi s3's and seat leon's) have the most power but are more expensive to get hold of for obvious reasons. im not exactly sure about fitting of the engines but there is a definitive 20v thread in the engine bay forum for guidance and help

nah, there these arn't they :) must admit your camera skills are awful, totally blurred the wheels... -
In answer to your question, i belive 'glass finish' is just that, its a really deep paint finish. you know when you get a brand new set of alloy wheels they are really shiney and impressive and you can see your reflection? well a glass finish is like a mirror finish in the paint and you could probably see blocked pores in your paint. It depends what you want it for, if your wanting to win shows then glass finish would be for you. if its going to be your daily and your going to park up in the car park at shows i wouldn't bother

Took the whole front end off ready to take our old VR lump, was quite chuffed with myself seeing as i've never taken a bumper off before. Got irritated by the STUPID rusted screws for headlights so i drilled them out, then realised theres another impossible to get to screw so im a bit stumped for now how im gonna get that one out. I also bought a £20 electric impact wrench from netto's a while back thinking it would come in handy as a bookholder or something but it was actually pretty dam good! made light work of the stubborn bolts.
-
haha, this is getting really quite complicated now. I have now put in a paypal claim to attempt to get my £200 deposit back seeing as the prick that has my wiring wont answer my calls. So i've managed to get hold of a mk4 r32 wiring loom, so next step is... will the lambda's from this be suitable or do i need audi TT lambda's. I bought one Audi A3 3.2 lambda but i think it may be the wrong one as the part number is different. You would think that seeing as they are all pretty much the same engine all the lambda's would be the same. i know i need a different maf to the mk4 r32 but can i use any 3.2 v6 audi/mk4 golf lambda? obviously it matters which lambda goes in what place though (ie left bank, right bank, pre cat, post cat).

I wish i had as much wires as you  I've got the engine ready but i can't do anything until i find a wiring loom, where did you get all yours from?

I absolutely love your car, proper gutted a didn't buy your old exhaust off you first and i could have seen the car in the flesh :D personally i do agree is a tad too noisy for my liking but like pete said its a toy and its not just to sound like a chav with a beancan exhaust, power for the win!!!

saw this and thought of you, that is if your still trying to custom make a seat :D http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vw-Golf-Mk5-R32-s ... 240%3A1318

im currently doing some 'work' on my corrado so still driving my 1.3 8v swift and last night the local toyota celica gt4 decided to overtake me as we got onto a pretty residential road, if only i was in my corrado, i bet he wouldn't have been so smug :mad2:

I am very disappointed by the total unoriginality of VW recently, it seems all they do is design a car then squash it for the polo, make it a little longer for the golf, then lower the roof and the car for the scirocco. Theres no thought process in the design and all the cars look the same to me.

the worst bit that really upsets is when you think the 2.9 v6 is doing about 15mpg keeping up with something probably doing 45mpg+ :(

I hear chuck norris once thanked Toad for his efforts in perfecting the round house kick

cheers again for confidence boost guys, just wondering though, will the loom from an r32 be the same as the audi TT? are the mk4/mk5s any different? Does anybody know where i can get the looms from as the :bad-words: guy still won't get back to me. i cannot understand why some people don't have the decensy to at least call back to let me know either way if he has or hasn't got it. i mean "ill call you when i get to my unit", to me means "ill call you when i get to my unit"

admitedly it was in my valver but was following an RS6, or rather it have just passed me down the motorway and some daft lad pulled into fast lane in front of him. no racing involved, both of us were just casually cruising but i think the guy wound mr RS6 up and as soon as he pulled out the way he just disappeared :D looked modified because the back wheels looked so amazingly fat and they filled the whole arch!

you could just swap the front 9's for 2 x 7.5's, plenty of people would be willing to swap and they should fit fine, could even use the spacers to make them sit right
