  1. Yea, he said to send him across error codes and he will take a look. Going to try find wires for sai solenoid and get it connected and troubleshoot evap to see why that's being a git
  2. The carbon canister is connected but not plumbed in (VR6 valve) so might double check wiring and make sure I've got power going to it. I'll try get to wiring for SAI stuff and get it connected, got this weekend to play so fingers crossed I'll get some luck
  3. I've had another look tonight but there is absolutely no lambda adaption, I've checked over earth's and cannot find any bad ones. One weird thing is that it's saying sai relay is not connected when it is so I'm going to double check that, I might try wire up the solenoid as well to see if that shuts it up and starts behaving
  4. If it were a vr6 then I would say not but I've read a lot about 60k engines, long life service intervals and stretched chains... NOT GOOD! apparently it's to do with sachs stamping their logo too deep and weakening the links. Unfortunately I'm running an a3 engine which is the ultimate mongrel engine, bits of mk4/5 and audi tt. Would appreciate screen shots from anyone!
  5. It sounds like my sort of luck getting stretched chains. Not a chance am I risking driving 3 hours to get my car cubed, I'll try give vince a call tomorrow for advice. It's frustrating I can't do anything, just want to get it through mot then I can properly finish it off
  6. Its an Audi A3 3.2, fairly sure its exactly the same as what you had Kev. I'm a bit stuck with what to do, what triggers closed loop, is it just blue temp sensor (R32's version). The ECU does seem to read water temp, I'm going to try run it up to temperature again tonight but it does seem like the lambdas are just not showing any values in the ECU at all, MAF readings seem about right (compared with what I've seen on forums)
  7. Yea, as far as I'm aware it is inefficient combustion but I don't think its as bad as low compression etc. It does seem to point towards overfueling. Vince did the immobiliser defeat so I'm more than confident with that being right
  8. See that metal clip ziptied to the sensor in the first pic? That holds it in place. You push the sensor in, make sure the seal is seated correctly, and that slot just to the left of 'w3' in second picture is where the clip goes
  9. Well this thing is starting to really get on my nerves, it absolutely stinks of fuel... I could pretty much catch the fuel out the exhaust and just throw it back into the fuel tank. Couple of things I really really didn't want to see... correct me if I'm wrong but that looks like chain stretch? And appears to be staying in open loop, connected up the rear lambdas and tucked them away, reset error codes let it idle up to temp and no lambda adaption. VAGCOM logs and error codes below, strangely enough I do have the SAI relay wired up. If this sodding thing doesn't start behaving and giving me some luck it will be for sale! 10. From memory, and I have a terrible one so you'll have to bear with me, it's pretty straight forward, cut the rubbery seal away at the end, pull it apart and resolder the manky joint.
  11. Seems weird that they just have to be plugged in to lower emissions, especially HC. Everything I've read says they are there just to make sure the CAT is working but I'm not going to question an easy fix! Do you know which measuring blocks I'd be wanting to look at to make sure this sorts it?
  12. Thrashed it around on way there and tested it straight away, made little difference.
  13. Well took it for a proper thrashing on the way to test centre and it's made little to no difference so it's back to the drawing board. Running 2 front lambdas without rears, they have not been deleted yet but are unplugged, sports cat and full miltek, I'm thinking it's fueling related rather than just cat related as I never had any problems with the vr engine. Either way, it's just another kick in the nuts and I'm seriously starting to lose the love.
  14. Bug jam is an absolutely awesome weekend, it's mostly air-cooled stuff but loads of water-cooled stuff and a great atmosphere. Other than that vw festival is a fantastic weekend, all types has been this year but was good
  15. Yea everything is wired up as it should, even those annoying bits like evap canister are wired up. I'm hoping it was only because the engine had been sat for about 2/3 years without running properly, plus the car has been sat for a year and a half. Other than that, compared to my daily bmw 320d, it bloody shifted! Just power right the way through, definitely need big big brakes though!
  16. Sadly no, massively over on emissions and a bulging Brake Hose. Chucked in some injector cleaner, thrashed it all the way home. My mate said it was throwing black smoke out when we set off but had cleared when I got home so going to scan it, make sure the two lambda sensors are working properly then take it back and fingers crossed. Otherwise I have problems...
  17. Please Mr mot man, will you pass my car...
  18. Haha, I used to have a procat, think I still have a box load of parts for it. I used to race 1/10th scale off road rc cars regional and a couple of nationals. Havnt done it for years but have an x-factory x5, basically a single belt converted losi xx4, was awesome but no pictures of it
  19. Would be nice to attend to put some faces to names, Corrado R32 near Hull
  20. That's what she said... But on a serious note, it's fiddly but doable
  21. On top of the rear engine mount, the bolt head should have a thread on top of it
  22. 3rd picture is for Headlight resistor I think, I unplugged mine and binned it, stupid thing Last one is for carbon canister valve on offside turret Rest of them Chris got!
  23. Awesome! Where did you get the stalk from? Had this in my mind to do once mines back on the road
  24. So today, I will mostly be finishing this thing off...
