Another thing to consider if you are considering a turbo in any point in the future is arp head bolts, I kick myself for not putting them when I rebuilt mine last time.
-
New flywheel bolts, they are stretch bolts so will need to be replaced. Some people say don't bother they have never had any problems or to use some threadlock, others say replace everytime and have heard horror stories. Personally I have replaced them everytime I have taken the flywheel off, despite the fact I've had to remove a set that did precisely 0 miles after my r32 dilemma. Be careful with sealant when you are refitting side cover, I saw one a few years back that had sealant piled on and the oil pickup was almost completely clogged up!

Heres my attempt, using Mk5 manifold, some flanges I got made, bit of suzuki swift exhaust and the VR6 flexi's/remainder of downpipe and flange. The only thing I would say if you are homebrewing is that you can see how far the right hand pipe moves across and ideally it would have needed to go a bit further but the left hand one I pretty much cut the VR6 flange off and welded the 3.2 flange straight to the end of it

The 2.8 manifolds have a smaller bore than the 3.2 from what I have read. The mk4 are the same shape as the 4motion (ending downwards) whereas the mk5 are angled like the vr6 however the flanges are larger. I do have the flanges drawn up on cad if you need them as I got them made for my temporary manifold. I was in the same position as you Sean so I had my temp manifold bodged up, it is very close to the steering rack boot though so I might need to wrap that before I get it up to temp but once I'm done hopefully might come in handy to someone in a similar position

I rang a place not too far from me who quoted me £225 fitted for a custom downpipe, can't remember the name off the top of my head but they are based in Louth and I've heard good things about them. Just as a temporary measure I made up a downpipe by using mk5 manifold (similar angle to VR6) and then cutting the standard VR6 downpipe up, there is a picture in my build thread somewhere As for united motorsport I gave up quickly with them, if they are not bothered about customer service for new customers how are they going to be like if you have a problem. Not a good way to be for a business

I hope you don't mind me asking but where did you get the boot floor from? My mate is doing a mk2 4x4 and I'm also considering it. Found this, might be of some use: http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk/data/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2023

Have you had a look at the main starter earth? Could be that its just gone a bit manky and needs a clean

You know g60 brakes are exactly the same on mk3 golf gti's/early vr6's (with 280mm discs obviously) and corrado vr6's. I got a full set for 15 quid a while ago from scrapyard, in fact if yours don't fit I'd be happy to get a set for you to sweeten the deal hehe.
-
Hehe, not surprised really, they were an absolute bargain! Been after some nice brakes for ages but didn't know how to pm on Instagram! Nice progress though, do love watching some diy progress
-
Ahh it was you that got them, off Instagram? Was 10 minutes late for them, gutted! If they don't fit your wheels give me a shout ;-)

What type of tool to remove all engine hose clamps
swiftkid replied to sexybourbon's topic in General Car Chat
Think I'll be investing in a set soon, I bought the ones with the cable a while ago then snapped the tab off the remote part on first use! -
Sounds like a rare example of reliable trouble free corrado.. Pics needed!

DEHUMIDIFIER BAGS - no more condensation :-)
swiftkid replied to winchbietch's topic in General Car Chat
Yea just found this thread, could do with some for my car and my dad's triumph stag -
Not sure what you mean, I didn't do any cutting. Immobiliser wiring diagram attached, it's a grey and white wire
-
That would make much more sense, although where my mate got it from I have no idea as every engine he has had have been manual
-
My mate brought one round that was apparently from a vr6, was very different to the one I had, as shown below First one is corrado, second one I'm not sure what's it's from, Golf obd2 maybe?

Corrado Part Duex - 24V Aqua Blue - She's gone.

Hehe, I like the challenge anyway, just got to finish off the r32 then I might be nagging you for info for the teves20 system. Love the way this is going though, pretty much everything I'm looking at doing... Just a lot faster! -

I loved that dash install, one of the things I'd like investigate in the future, after the climate control and teves20 install... Would you mind if I left my car with you for a few months Sean lol -
I might have one if lilfuzzer doesn't, I'll have to check

Has the USB got a light or something that will drain power? I would have thought you would just use the existing live to the heater control light for the inverter or did you want the light on constantly?
-
These are the ones you sent me:
-
My mate did it to his and ended up taking them off as the weight of the bonnet just bent the struts!
-
Good job you can rectify it before it was back in place! Although I didn't glue mine together, fairly sure it all just clips back together.
-
Erm, please forgive me if I'm wrong but it looks like you have the heater flap on wrong (the top one). Doesn't look like it moves the way you have it, the smaller leg looks like it should be in the downward position in your pic above your fully assembled photo. Interesting about techtonics, will see if they do a 24v conversion downpipe, would be ideal. How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking

Not the best of pictures but I believe it's the rad fan controller. Could be anything really, poor earth, snapped or open wire. Check the wiring to temp sensors in thermostat housing and radiator
