Wiper motor needs to be early wiper motor (5 pin) I believe, I've got the wrong one if anyone needs one :epicfail: Front brakes from mk5 won't fit (again found out the hard way), shifter from mk4 does but you'll need to get polo/lupo housing - well worth the upgrade!!!

Does anyone else find tapatalk absolutely crap other than providing a shortcut to this forum? Everytime I click on a forum link via google it opens up tapatalk main screen so I end up having to mess around trying to open the link out of tapatalk, unfortunately like the Microsoft paperclip it just pops straight back up. I've uninstalled it for now, but now everytime I open a forum it asks "do you want to install tapatalk"... URGH

For diagnosis purposes its best to do it whilst its running, for not getting a bloody shock purposes turn engine off but it's more difficult to notice a difference. Can take it off at plug or coil end, whichever is easier to remove coil end with a pair of insulated pliers or plug end if you still have the ht removal tool but as Jim says go careful, it bloody hurts... I know first hand

This is something I've been looking into as I'd like to upgrade in the near future. Couple of options for an upgrade depending on what you want to achieve -there's the V5 box which is something like a 3.9 final drive but 6 speed, you end up with a similar cruising speed at 70, if not a touch higher but have to go through the gears quicker -the G60 final drive (which I believe is same as ABF), which is 3.6 so improves acceleration but cruising RPM is near 4k, the twist on this which is what I'm considering is a TDI 5th which should bring it back down to nearer 3k at 70mph. There was a guy on facebook selling a freshly rebuilt VR6 box with G60 final drive, 3rd & 4th which seemed interesting! -6 speed gemini box/quaife, rare unlike the billions of BBS wheels people claim are rare and very pricey!!! Could consider a lightened flywheel, it's supposed to help the engine rev a bit better but with a slight loss in torque from what I read. I haven't done it but others have.

I'd get it mapped for the cams alone, if you are planning on taking it to stealth it doesn't take too long, maybe a couple of hours at most, I'd ask Vince how much, from memory it was £2-300 but was years ago, Mr bourbon aka matt will know as he's just had his mapped. Think before his charger he had a similar setup minus OBD2 and saw 225bhp I think. Just to note, with my OBD2 I didn't get as high figures as I hoped for but the torque curve was much better (more power further down and less peak) but your schrick should fix that.

The halo is just a reader so you can swap that over but the transponder is chip specific, you can swap the chip over but I doubt the transponder is faulty. The halo just unclips or unscrews from the column, fairly straight forward swap.

Definitely the factory immobiliser, my toad won't even let me crank if its armed. I have had similar issues in the past, people have said about just unplugged then plugging the wires back in into the transponder and earth, worked for me once or twice. The transponder is tucked up behind the dash near the fusebox, you need to be triple jointed to reach it though. I'd maybe say the underlying issue is the halo though

Very useful to know, I have a stack of these with broken tabs

That's not a normal feature so I'd guess someone has wired up the alarm to do that or you have a strange electrical gremlin.
-
Definitely stick with that if its happy. If you are finding your engine runs higher oil temps you could consider it but sounds like a good one so I wouldn't bother. Mine used to run quite hot and use oil so I switched to 10w50 and it was happier but it was quite an old engine

For my wedding I had a 5 tier cheese & pork pie cake. Had bucket loads of cheese left so the other day I had a snowdonian black bomber cheese, wafer thin ham and branston pickle sandwich, was absolutely outstanding!

100% recommend toad alarm, fitted them on my last 2 cars and they work brilliant. Nothing flashy just exactly what you need it to do, the Clifford's etc always seem to want to do everything but fail on just working. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

I think photo bucket pretty much single handedly ruined forums. All the info, all the projects gone in 1 swoop. I think it will take a long time for people to pick forums up again but eventually it will come back. Facebook is good for sharing photo's but there's so much crap that once you've seen it, it's gone forever. You can't just search for that thread about overheating or poor idle, or even members threads. I do try to keep mine updated but barely manage to do anything on it these days! Mk4 fronts are either 288mm or 312mm, they also have a different offset to corrado. You can either use mk3 discs with 288mm or go 312mm with a 6mm spacer Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

I'll go second in line for sub box please Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

Looks like a right useful tool that, where's it from? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

Definitely not, we argue too much. All the panic about getting it through an mot to have it as my wedding car. Which I drove to the venue, parked up, had a couple of photos with best man then didn't get chance to have any with my new wife! Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

Its quite an interesting upgrade, I've just changed an ABS sensor last week and did think how daft it was that the whole bearing needed to be taken apart to change to disc. Although this method would make changing an ABS sensor somewhat more difficult. I've just had a skim read and by the sounds of it, polo 6N onto none VR6's is just a bolt on upgrade, fit everything and you are done. VR6's cause the problem & confusion, this is how I understand it, : -option 1 if you bolt 6N stuff straight on you'll need 4x100 - 5x100 wheel adapters -option 2 you can use polo 6N stub, with polo 9N hubs and some work to fit the ABS ring (not sure what that is) -not sure on this part, think this is option 2 + fitting 256mm discs which you really want to do but not 100% sure on this. I'll have a look later and see if I can figure it out

My dad works for vosa so it's all above board, no 'friendly' mot tester. I always take my car to kwik fit, some people laugh but unless it's brake pads or tyres they can't do it so can't make money off you by failing it on stupid things and I 100% agree with anything that needs fixing as long as it's fair, it's my safety after all. My girlfriend tool her car to a local garage recently and they tried to con her by failing it on excessive smoke, I asked for emissions and they couldn't provide any paperwork as they were clearly hoping to make some quick money, funnily enough it passed second time without me doing anything. It was tested to age of engine but I think you go on what's oldest. Either way, next year I'm hoping I'll get a new manifold and not have this problem again Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

I don't know, one to investigate. I have a feeling my manifold is blowing slightly, fine on idle but just a little on acceleration which would cause it. Need to get a proper downpipe made so hopefully get one in the next few months Basically I got through on a technicality, cat tests came in 1992, but only if your car is between 1992 and 1995 but on a manufacturer list which defines exact make and model. Well corrado r32 isn't so I get 3.5% allowance which it easily passes Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

Depends how your tester is but you can see Vin number by just lifting it slightly but obviously they can't do that during the test. Just confirm before they start test. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

Don't know about clamping down but I have an swg cover over the scuttle tray so couldn't see Vin. They basically need some form of id to check chassis, my original sticker did the trick. Well I have an mot... Time to tax it and play! Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

Nothing coming up on vagcom, lambdas both giving similar readings although if they are good readings I don't know. Cat is a sports cat but was fine with the vr6 engine Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

So went in for test on Tuesday after explaining the vin number can be found in the boot, one to remember for next MOT. Failed on emissions and a ball joint, ball joint was an easy one but emissions I'm still struggling with, high CO and HC readings as per last test. Having done a bit of research I am still eligible for 3.5% rule so it's back in on Saturday to hopefully get it passed but I still don't know why emissions are so high.
