Ahhhh yes, that makes more sense

I'm putting mine back on standard suspension cos everything is so tired on Stella that I don't have a reference point to work from. After a year of pootling around on standard, I may upgrade it. Perhaps.

As a car enthusiast, can you ever be finished with an engine crane?
-
Does your speedo still work? My spoiler stayed down when my speedo was broken, but worked fine from the switch.

No, that pipe is too big. It's the internal door rain drain pipe. Won't connect to anything dude, the water just runs down the pipe and out of the holes in the bottom of the door. :salute:

Yandards' Nugget G60 - gone but not forgotten..

Imagine the mess.... all the cars in a 1 mile radius would be shinneeeeeeeeee! -
Well, I obviously don't know as much about lycra as you do! Is that like "If you book them, they will come?" Still say it's an awesome idea even if it is conceptual. Better than most of the stuff I've seen recently.

swap you some lint for it.

Credit card or credit to hard work?
boost monkey replied to boost monkey's topic in General Car Chat
by the way, this isn't a "how much does your car owe you?" thread! Edit: Poll added by VR6 - he's a few pistons short of a VR6 :cuckoo:  -
I was wondering how many people on here save up and spend their hard-earned on their car and how many use loans / credit cards to put the purchases on? Being a student, I am fundamentally in debt just to pay for everyday stuff (Engineering degrees really don't leave space for part-time jobs ) and so a lot of the time I have to not buy stuff because I have to pay for something lame like rent! Ok, so rent is quite important, but I no longer have a credit card after consolidating my outstanding debt into affordable payments. (By the way, I don't mean "cheque booking" which, in my mind, is giving a garage / workshop a blank cheque and asking them to build you a show-stopping car.) End of the day, it's all of your money to do with what you will, I just think it'll be a good discussion! Don't flame teh messenger :salute:

Receipts? My C owes me less than four figures at the mo my good man! :salute: This post is all about MPG and economy, hence all that up there ^^^^

Just filled the car up after doing 320 miles (heathrow and back, Winchester and back, and a few other journeys) and it only took 43 litres  This is good because 43 litres is ~9.5 gallons which means Stella, with the dodgy wiring and iffy sensors, is doing 34mpg  And prodigal can attest that the Heathrow voyage wasn't exactly a pootle! :cuckoo: :nono: Well happy with that! Now If I can only convince the MFA to read the same and not 12.5 peak..... :salute:

Interesting, I knew fluid was hygroscopic but didn't realise it would absorb moisture unless you left the reservoir open to air. Are the rubber brake hoses porous then?
-
It's a flexible material [PU-coated Lycra] on a movable wiremesh frame, so it's not like the "panels" are gonna tear off.
-
I love it. Chris Bangle thinking futurospectively again as he did when he designed all those cars over the last few years. It's a concept after all, but it's still nice to see the different ways the designers and engineers are thinking though. I hope to be doing the same some day.

are those brass coloured things the back plates? The ones I pulled off my beam didn't look round at all
-
The Double Ester oils they put in the GT3 Lamborghinis look like mineral (still yellowy) but don't smell like it. Smell almost sweet like Pear Drops or something! I'm so scientific. But I didn't tell you that... :ignore:
-
Ditto that. When you stripped the brakes, did you actually take the seals off and clean crud out from around the piston? if it's not moving freely then the brakes could easily be better on one side of the car. We put brand new calipers on Prodigal's G60 last summer and it STILL came up as 11% imbalance!
-
yeah, all my replacement parts are standard spec. The car is just so tired I want to see what new std parts a like before I even think about upgrading! Plus there's always the cost issue.
-
Not so ideal with the long runners though :pale: short intakes on f/i ftw.
-
That looks like Pearl blue effect thing, same as Toad's daily? definitely not any of the purples imo.
-
Yesss, come over to the dark side... *breathes through hands* Seriously though, I hope you get it fixed soon. If you find that it's the fan motor on the blink I may have one kicking about in teh shed of delight.

That's the Scirocco 16v manifold, my american friend :salute:

Non-genuine parts being purchased by a Mod?! Sacrilege!!

btw dukest, if you spent £85 on fuel and then couldn't have dinner afterwards, are we lead to believe that you are a big spender for fine London eateries in the early evening?!
