    Tin Worm

Never seen it there before. Almost looks like something has punched a hole through it ! Could be worse, could be the rear inner arches. Shouldn't be too much of a headache though.
  2. It's a real shame VW didn't engineer this option to last. It's one of my favourite features of a Corrado. I fitted a B4 Passat moon roof to the 8v about 6 months ago. With small adjustments here and there it fits really well. It doesn't follow the curve perfectly, but is more than adequate for my needs. It certainly doesn't leek and alows me roof top fresh air on demand ( which is most days ). Another bonus is the capability for extra sunlight during the darker days, with the slide of a screen. I also re-trimmed the lining whilst in there.
  3. I've lots of new pictures since my last post ( days at the beach, record collecting, etc etc ). Sadly none of them are Corrado related ! Your post ( and I thank you for it ) has reminded me that I have unfinished business. So last week, I decided to peel the clammy bedsheets from the fuel cell. From whence it was set aloft the dear old girl. Drop some restored energy in to old parts, to peruse Vagcat for new trinkets. And see where it takes us. I've been away from the old girl for far too long. And I miss her. Viva le VR6.

    Roof lining

I recently used this for mine: Grey headlining material It's not exact, but it's close enough for me (and the closest of the ones they offer). I can post an image if required.
  5. White SLC, last night on the US restoration programme "Fantomworks". First spot, on or off the television in nearly six months.
  6. I like the idea of this. Although I do like reading about drivers tales of road trips just as much. Would certainly make a change from all the "Help my car won't start threads".
  7. Small side line I have on the go: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/**soulboy**/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= I have the typeface used on the Corrado (and other VWs of that vintage). Could add: VR6 16v G60 Syncro (etc etc). Ask a question on here or eBay (though eBay will be quicker). Thanks for reading.
  8. Hey Paul. Good to hear from you. Hope all is well. Yeah, should put a mini meet together. Feel like all Arthur and I do is work, so a day away from it would be great.
  9. Black VR6 on the Channel 4 "music nation" documentary about the Asian rave scene (Still available on 4OD if your interested). 3rd TV spot in three years !
  10. Doesn't look too shabby from here. Smoothed spoiler and Recaro, very nice. Good to see another popping up in Le Nord Ouest as well. Welcome aboard.
  11. On a visit to Jaguar/Landrover in Gaydon today. I got chatting to a chap there about cars (can't think why !). He tells me his son drove a Corrado over to Italy (and left it there). Turn the corner, and there's a red VR6 (L334 ???), standard as a day (still wearing its red grill badge) parked up. Superb day out, capped with a Corrado spot.
  12. Nugget yellow 16v - Reg started ELT - Mature lady owner - Saturday afternoon in Skipton town centre. We were that amazed at seeing one, we all just stood there and stared. And no Oscar I'm not painting mine yellow !
  13. Not spoke with Adam ( current owner ) for a while, but as far as I know it's still in the north west. Has been turned into a trackday car (20v turbo engine, stripped out interior etc), with the leather seats currently in my car. Here's his thread: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=49290. We took the dash out last year and found an aerial under the dash (It puzzled us and made us laugh in equal measures) Care to elaborate ?
  14. Thought I'd update the old thread with what's been happening to Arthur. And to be honest, not a lot. A lot has been happening with him, but in regards "to him" is limited to a couple of MOT passes, new pagid pads and discs, the odd joint and brake pipe, timing belt, couple of stickers here and there, wheel bearings, Uniroyal rainsports, laser alignment or two and a bit more lacquer peel. But as with the marching of time, even our shine and joints are prone to wear. Now as some people may know I love to extol the virtues of the 8v to those who may want to, who are forced to listen, or to those who generally feel obliged. A wonderfully well mannered road going car. A stunning "drivers car" through country roads. A comfortable long distance tourer that's graced the best, Scotland, Yorkshire and Wales has to chuck at it. Even grabbing the odd kudos point here and there in the process. As sad as it may sound, I genuinely feel bad if the unofficial fourth member of the family is left behind. Going to Anglesey last month returned a new MPG record as a show of kind to the family. But enough of my "Which car review". What's the old bluffer been doing for eighteen months since I last made noise on here ? The answer my friend is blown' in the wind (of West Lancashire). Here's a few images here to paint a picture (to save me prattling on), but in summary, he's been converted into a rather capable works van. Lugging around on regular occasion: Radiators, cookers, makeshift roof light/sunroof conversion ???, many many many bags of rubble, cast baths, pallets and even the odd kitchen sink. 160K and going strong. Here's to another 160 old bean.
  15. Gleaned from the hallowed "Top Tips" pages of Viz: WORRIED that your teeth will be stained after a heavy night drinking red wine? Drink a bottle of white wine before going to bed, to remove the stains. LOSE weight quickly by eating raw pork or rancid tuna. I found that the subsequent food poisoning/diarrhea enabled me to lose 12 pounds in only 2 days.
  16. Great show as usual and a good to see strong Corrado numbers overall. Thanks to Matt and his partner for turning up and shifting the attention from my scabby old daily and providing some much appreciated support. And also thanks to all those I spoke to over the day. The numbers on the stand may have been low, but it doesn't detract from the overall interest from the general show going public. At this rate, the stand may as well be re-located to the Concours/Show and shine area. Kudos to all the Corrados in those categories. Oh and lastly, many thanks to Oscar for being the official club stand ambassador for the day. He went out of his way to direct people on to the stand. Even to the point where he demanded that I open the bonnet to show the unsuspecting public my filthy little peanut of an engine (I found this embarrassing and ironic in equal measures) Only a couple of pictures, as general images will be all over the forums. Can't wait for next years list to pop up.
  17. Hey Jim. Back in 2007 I priced a new alt ( for the 8v though) from VW. Came in at £750 on an exchange. Ended up repairing mine instead: I bought the bearings locally. 6203-2RS 6303-2RS Just short of £11 for the both. SKF units. Broke out the pullers on the bearings, put it all together and was quite pleased with myself. Until I realised I'd managed to break one of the brushes on the regulator when re-assembling. £10 for a new one. Still, £21 all in for an alternator rebuild as opposed to £200+ isn't bad in my eyes. Here's a handy link I found ( http://www.3dzubehor.com/Rover/Boschrepair.html ). It's for another cars alternator (still Bosch though), but the internals and process is the same. I'll be doing the same to the VR alternator... ... some time this millenium. Hope you get fixed up.
  18. In some ways it's annoying that you have to replace other parts to find the eventual problem. But in others it's satisfying that the clutch should be good for the foreseeable future. For a while, I've been thinking these "dirty hands" updates were banned from this site. So kudos to you for restoring the balance. Do you mind if I ask what kind of mileage you cover in a year ? And how do you find running a VR as a daily ?
  19. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171394523186?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Supercharged stickers also listed (along with other items).
  20. Have you thought of a 968 (as I noticed a 944 or 928 were an option ). I only mention it as I test drove a couple and heavily researched them before buying the VR (which I hate to say am too thinking of selling). Either way, hope the sale goes well and all the best.
  21. I agree, to see two together would be a superb feat. In the mean time, I think you should post a picture or two up to appease our lust for Corrado raritat.
  22. Wow ! They went for more than I thought.
