If cost is a consideration then may I suggest "The German car show" at Haigh Hall in Wigan. Free to attend for the past two years. As it's for charity they just ask for a small donation. It sits on the weekend between Tatton and Harewood, and really is an excellent mixed show. Eric (Tempest) is looking into the possibility of a stand for CCGB.

Another vote for Tatton Park, VWNW.

This interests me. But... Can it be seen working ? Is it USB or serial port ? What about software ? I read somewhere that you can't transfer the software download. Please excuse my ignorance if my questions are somewhat basic.

Sign up to Vagcat.com. Get the part numbers and ring your local dealer. Off the bat I'd say no on the clear cover and yes on the bonnet latch cover. May be wrong though.
-
Or even start a thread asking for what title to go for ? How about: " Help, I'm stuck with six sockets and am stumped if I should select the brown"
-
Correct. Along with lots of other faffy things. Steering rack securing rubber and the thick rubber rack seal being two. Just as well the bolts are generic or else the re-build would be sharfted.
-
That was my worry. 20 year old rubber item that I can't get brand new. Afraid to say that VW heritage had simply slipped off my radar. £13 as well. Result.

Never thought of looking there Wullie. Thanks once again. James

Some things to consider are: how often you use the car, how far you travel and if there are any adverse conditions you encounter if you use the car regularly. I fitted similar springs to standard shocks about twelve months ago. The entire front end was replaced for new as well. My daily drive to work means I have to navigate about twelve large speed bumps. Whilst "knocking about" the suspension was perfectly acceptable for the investment, Unfortunatly I changed it back within three months due to the lack of comfort. Whilst standard is un-fashionable somewhat, I'm still a big fan of standard suspension and 15's. What size wheels/tyres do you run with ?

Sounds like you've a sticky piston. Maybe the handbrake adjustment ? Worth checking them all.

Serious looking piece of kit there Adam. Give me the nod on your next track day as Jo has expressed an interest. Happy new year.

One that you can hop in, turn the key and enjoy the journey.

I agree Jim. In a similar way, where I like the early AC Ace bodied Cobras, rather than the later swollen versions. Powder coaters website: http://www.northwestpowdercoating.co.uk/contact.html Seems everytime I go there, there's someone new in charge ( tall chap called John last time ) Thankfully doesn't alter the excellent pricing, service and quality. May be up there in a week or so anyway.

I'd mothball it and wait till March / Easter before selling it ( or any oddball, classic, summer sports car for that matter ) Salts off the road, less rain, few more pennies in peoples pockets, someones summer project and people generally feel better about their personal circumstances etc etc. That is unless you really need to sell it. Everything leans towards a buyer at this time of the year. And as Andy said, even the good cars struggle at this time of the year. I also believe that those who are fortunate to have a weekend car, aren't changing them perhaps as frequently as they did. Holding on to them longer. But personally I think there's too many cars on the road and not enough second car enthusiasts coming through to take tham on. Ten years time, hopefully the economy will have re- configured its self and there will be an appetite for a weekend sports car. Rather than the bland eco moulds that will be the norm until such a time. Or maybe this is a nail in the coffin for the classic car market, and there is no way back. All those cars that would normally get sucked into the gravity pull of classic status are being shown a market driven shut door. Fuel prices, and being on the edge of the next automotive fuel source will all play a massive part in the next wave of car ownership. On all levels. Time will tell.

As Kip will agree, it's a slow burn Dave. Bit at a time. Good powder coaters in Chorley if you need their details. They've done all my work. I love the handling of the 4 cylinder cars as well. More than my VR, through the twisty stuff.

It is indeed. And I've got a car to rebuild. Best get some work done... Decided to dine at the "Corrado restoration table" today. Managed to make a booking for about eleven thirty. And in an attempt to avoid the cliche' starters such as garlic bread and the intravenous injection of cold hard drugs, decided to continue with my own choice of: Starter.. Clearcoated the scuttle tray, engine bay, arches and various under-neathy sections of newly needy-painty-bits. What a result. laid it on quite wet and left it ten minutes for the next coat. Damn stuff looks sweeter than a Crispy Creme glaze. I licked my lips and moved on... Main... Built up the front suspension and set it to one side until the clear coat is "propper ard". Coloured dots for the springs or not ? Hmmmm haven't decided yet. Desert... Undoing my belt a little, I tucked into the meeting of body and subframe. A moment I've been waiting a very very long time for. I feel it's a momentous occasion. I'm not saying man on the moon type occasion, more a channel tunnel, Higgs Boson type of thing. New bolts slipped in with copper slipped ease. Whilst the radiator supports needed the similar amount of persuasion to be coupled into their final resting places. Cigars, Cognac, Wafffer theen meents Sir ? Why not. All three, while watching Wigan on Match of The Day. The perfect day.

Thanks for sharing this. Just finished reading the Jason Plato thread (warning 52 pages !) over on Pistonheads. Have not laughed at internet goings on so much for a long time ( for those who haven't read it ): http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=933047&mid=193132&nmt=Just%20met%20Jason%20Plato

I was only discussing the virtues of red, whilst nursing a pint in the public house on Sunday. Over the past couple of years, I've started to appreciate red again. 1990's all cars are red, 2000's they're all silver. Now they're all going Essex white. Every time I see a red Corrado, it reminds me of all the press pack bumf and magazine articles. Which I like. There needs to be custodians of the Model at some point. Rather than the mainstream M/N reg VR6 choice. And for that I raise my glass to you. Please don't ever change it. Kudos Dave

Always good to have overseas owners on here, so welcome. Aircon and if my eyes don't decieve me, cream leather ? Very nice. What's it like getting parts on that side of the water ?

Where's "Corrado Sunderland" when you need him...

The Official Corrado Campaign thread (where are they now)
James. replied to James.'s topic in General Car Chat
Sure they'll turn up in one form or another. One may have even washed up on your shores by now. Make sure you keep us updated if you spot anything. -
Even if you don't do anything else, you've improved it no end. Love the IOM. And your car.

CCGB Membership Fee Discussion Now Here: http://www.corradoclub.org/
James. replied to vornwend's topic in Off-topic Chat
A great debate everyone. My personal input: Would it not be worthwhile re-investing some of the funds and allowing it the opportunity to work for the club. By that (for example) an investment in a point of sale/ gazeebo structure for shows to help drive new memberships. Then review whether the investment was worthwhile. Personally I think a trick is being missed at shows. Even if a space for a car is sacrificed at a show where this could be alloted. That way the merchandise can be merchandised effectively and as everyone points out, after the cars on show, the Sprinter can take centre stage (old copies to hand out, laminated copies on a plinth etc). Those who are displaying their cars can rotate (only if they feel comfortable) liasing with Joe Public and selling the merits of the club. Which if you've been to a show, you do without noticing. A perfect example of this for me was Tatton Park 2012. Great stand. Cars spread out in a semi circle, lots of foot fall but no focal point (with the exception of a certain Mr Pearsons satin silver VR). It was crying out for someone to be up front to sell the Corrado club to one and all. Which then brings me round to shows. Would it be worthwhile experimenting with other marques shows ? I see more mileage in attracting new custom from mixed marque shows. Inviting new potential owners who may have overlooked the model in the past, or haven't even seen one before. Bearing in mind that before most people buy a car, they usually do a bit of research. And paying a tenner to become a little more clued up is a no brainer. Personally I don't believe blowing all the money in one financial year is the answer. But having a considered approach is. This is in no way, my way of making issue within the club. Simply my suggestions to perhaps benefit all members and in the long term, the club. And as you can probably tell, I was the little boy who sat at the bottom of his drive, selling potatoes from a small school desk. Something that never really left me. Always loved showing people my spuds. But that's for another thread. -
Nice little mod for the new year list methinks. My heater illumination expired recently, and I have a rattle behind the passenger door card, so I may as well do this at the same time. Thanks for the guide.
