  1. It's funny how Campaigns polarize opinion. I personally love the interior. When I first saw a picture of it, I thought it looked too red (remembering that in the early nineties, red leather was seldom seen outside of automotive exotca). To be fair to any picture, it's more brown than red. Comparing it with a lot of Audi TT's, 3 series BMs that are specicified 50% of the time with red leather that is twice as bright, it actually looks more subtle than any of theirs and in a way, far less brash and tacky. A mate of mine has a new white folding hard top 3 series with red leather. I like it a lot. But every day I drive past many of these and most of them have submitted the same photocopied options list. Yet he prefers the colour of my interior as he rates it as being easier on the eye. I guess the age old quote "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" couldn't be any more appropriate.
  2. Cheers buddy. It was on my radar to, but took a back seat with all that was going on recently. Seeing yours reminded me that it really needs doing. :salute: I thought the damn thing had gone into hibernation for a second. In fact, nice one to you Dave. Above and beyond the call of duty there buddy. If I can repay the favour then just give me the nod.
  3. This is not one of the Campaigns ... :) There's only one 1 owner Campaign, and that's a lady owner in Suffolk (?) Maybe she's got short hair, wears lumberjack check shirts and listens to KD Lang  Easy mistake. Just for the record, I think Charli was just making a general comment about a one owner car. Not in particular a Campaign.
  4. You'll be that excited, the travelling will fly by. When I bought mine, it was an eight hour round trip. I drove all the way there with the old man. Bending his ear about the (potentially) great car I'd found on't tinterweb. All the way back I was in a whirlwind of euphoria at what I was going to do first when I got home. When I did get home, the Mrs came out and demanded the first drive. Half an hour later she came back with a big grin on her face. Buzzin' for you buddy. Enjoy it. NB: I hope there's piccalilli on them there corned beef !

  7. Crumbs. It's a couple of months since I updated this thread. To be honest, she sat motionless for a few weeks before Dave (Reggit) swung by for a quick plug in of his VCDS to tell me as brother Marvin once said "What's going on". Turns out it was the old Crank position sensor that had decided to offer up an :epicfail: . Before I could say anything, Dave tells me he has a working one sat at home, being used as a paperweight ! Crikey !! Two days later, Dave swings by in a whirlwind to bestow a CPS on your dear narrator. Moments later, the cars on stands and I'm on the floor trying to dislodge an eighteen year old 10mm bolt that's playing the nil-movement game quite well. Big soak of graphite oil and a cup of tea later and it eased off with a tap or two. Bought a new Varta battery to toast the occasion, turned the key and she burst into life. Let it get up to temp and chanced a spin. It was running a bit rough so left it over night then disconnected the battery for half an hour, bolted it all back up, fired her up and jumped straight in for a good blast. Safe to say the grin factor was re-installed and all the frowns of the past few weeks were turned upside down. Gave her a good clean and hoover at the weekend and over the past few nights have had a go at the roof strips (Big nod in the general direction of Andy (C5 OEM). Took them off. A light wet and dry seeing to and then a buttering of primer. Another light smooth and then the satin black top coat. Left them a couple of days then back they went. There's a couple of images below but the lighting doesn't quite do them justice. I'm very pleased with them. In fact I'd say they're belting.
  8. Sure thing. Think we should sort that North West meet out properly as well. Funnily enough I was in your neck of the woods this afternoon.
  9. You may have seen mine before I took control. The car had been painted in the past. But the wrong colour ! Whoever had painted it, decided not to bother with the sunroof panel though  But in the grand scheme of things, the paint was the least of her issues
  10. Looks like you're snookered. The only thing I could suggest is to contact the previous owners and try and garner some service history that way. I contacted VW earlier in the year and they confirmed all my main dealer service history from new. Start with the last name and address on the V5. You may drop on and find they now know where the four inch file of service history is ! Failing that, take her for a spin and you'll soon forget about the lack of a few pieces of paper.
  11. You could try emailing VW with your registration number. They'll be able to confirm supplying dealer and any main dealer service info.
  12. The last owner wasn't a Tim. Do you have a surname, as I've got all the surnames of the past owners ? The third owner was a lady but the first two were blokes. Thanks for the pictures Jeremy. What was the original registration number on yours ???
  13. He owned mine for just short of six months (fourth owner).
  14. Nice one Paul. This will be ex "Campaigns" (Jeremys) Campaign as I've seen that thread myself. Its the Gilders of Sheffield car.
  15. Nice one Jimbo. Post a picture when you get a second or two. Which dealers car do you have ?
  16. Campaigns was the Gilders of Sheffield car. I'm lead to beleive that TCS bought it. Put their mark up on it and then it went to Ireland. This would tie in nicely with the above. Does anyone know if he's on here ? Anyone know for sure which one ? Reg number ?? I've heard this mentioned before. Again, anybody know if she's on here. Which car and/or what the reg is ?
  17. Just so I can keep them on my radar. Who did you go with in the end ?
  18. Ask and ye shall receive: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=93621 You a pie eater as well ?
  19. Looks great. Love the colour combo.
  20. Last edited July 2023 Do you drive one ? Do you know where one is ?? Do you know where they all are ??? Seeing as there's hardly enough to start a "Campaign register", if you have any info on any of the six Campaigns then please post it in here. I've contacted VW regarding the Corrado Campaign and the only information passed my way was details of my service history. The marketing department drew a blank as well. I therefore have nothing regarding internal press info/pictures. So it looks like it's down to us enthusiasts to unearth all the info on this limited creation. As with most of the information I have received, none of it has been officially confirmed. So if you can confirm any info that I am posting, then please post it up. I'll update this thread as and when new information comes my way. These cars have become a bit of an urban myth. I hope by creating this thread, we can all learn about one of Volksagens rarest production cars. As some/all/none of you may know, VW created six VW Corrado Campaigns. They then held a competition for all the official dealer network of who could sell the most Karmann cars (Golf cabrio, Scirrocco, Corrado) between January 1992 and August the 1st 1992. The six winning dealers were: Scotts of Sloane square (London) Dovercourt, St Johns Wood (London) Dovercourt, Battersea (London) Listers of Coventry Karmann of Barnet (London) Gilders of Sheffield Here's an article which highlighted the model back in 1999: The specification : 1992 VR6 ABV 2.9L engine. BBS "Monte Carlo" wheels (15"). Early interior controls (heaters, switches, stalks) Pioneer front and rear speakers. Recaro heated and electric adjustable seats with "Corrado" embossed headrests (athletes running logo). Full leather interior (not just the faces, but side, rear and all other faces) in "Brick red / Red tan" with Mauve inserts consisting of: Front and rear (humped) seats with mauve stripes, Door cards (mauve part stitching), trim tunnel, Handbrake handle, gear knob, steering wheel, dashboard. Brick red carpeting with the same colour (front only) overmats. Black headlining, trim, sunroof switch and hand stitched black sun visors. Dusty Mauve (LC5P) paint. Seen mostly on the Golf MK3. Listed on the boot sticker and in the owners handbook as paintcode "SK99" (special order colour). K95 EUC (Scotts of Sloane square London car) also has the following, which when purchased appear to be original: Black door pin strikers Black front door strut caps Black boot and bonnet and door latches From what I've read so far, mine was the only Campaign to come with Air con. It's a Diavia retro fit system that I beleive Scotts of Sloane square used to spec a lot of their cars with (Air con was not available as standard on UK cars at this point). Below is an article from Volkswagen Audi Car regarding the Campaign and how it came about (NB - The registration in this photo was not used on any of the Campaigns as it is a J plate). It's known that one was written off early in its life, with a second also mooted to have followed the same fate in later years. Which one is which has yet to be confirmed, but an interior does exist in another forum members car. I emailed VW UK, VW Germany and Karmann to establish if they have any info on these vehicles. All came back with nothing being kept in their records/archive/history files. Trying to keep abreast of locations and if they are still on the road can be difficult. But I can start the ball rolling with mine: The Scotts of Sloane Square car (James' Sloane ranger): Registration: K95 EUC Ownership timeline (approx): 28/08/92 to 11/12/92 = Scotts of Fulham demonstrator 11/12/92 to 01/07/95 = 1st owner (Newark, Nottingham) 01/07/95 to 01/05/00 = 2nd owner (Copthorne, West Sussex) 01/05/00 to 19/02/09 = 3rd owner (Wellington, Somerset) 19/02/09 to 11/08/09 = 4th owner (Maidenhead, Berkshire) 11/08/09 to Present = Me - 5th owner (West Lancashire) Scotts of Sloane square (London) - Currently known and in Lancashire - K95 EUC Dovercourt, St Johns Wood (London) - Sold 2020 (Ex Jimbo off this forum). Current whereabouts unknown. Off the road since 2020 - C4MVR (Original reg unknown) Dovercourt, Battersea (London) Listers of Coventry - Last heard of being in the Ipswich area. Off the road since 1998. Karmann of Barnet (London) Gilders of Sheffield - Registered Cat C in the late 90's. Last sold in the UK circa 2007. Repaired and last heard of being in Ireland - K918 EHE To offer context as to how rare these cars are, here's (from what I could find on the internet) are the next five Volkswagens in terms of production (Quantity produced in bold): Phaeton W12 LWB - 12 MK2 Golf G60 Limited - 71 Beetle RSI - 250 XL1 Hybrid - 250 Touareg W12 Sport - 500
  21. Knew I'd seen it somewhere before. This magazine (Car Week, 27th July 1994) came in the folder when I bought my VR6 last summer. I've posted the full article. Shame there's only one picture but it's one picture more than what I've got
  22. Try performance direct. I've got a classic policy with them. By far the cheapest quote. Restricted mileage/garaged/NCB not required/second car/agreed value/photos required etc etc...
  23. That's my old one. The lads on here somewhere. Think he's known on here as "ken corrado"
  24. Wonderful news. I have that book upstairs so will re-visit it shortly. Get yourself off to as many shows as possible and spend time sifting through all the brochure dealers stock. The classic car show at the NEC in November is a "must" in this respect. I happened upon many many press photos from the Corrado stable when I was there last year. Sadly (or unsurprisingly) I came up short on photos for my car. But hope to have lady luck on my side when I visit again. I'm sure that if you percivere, you will un-earth some gems. I'll put these on my radar for the next shows I attend but make sure you return the favour, should you see anything relating to the Campaign ! All the best, James
  25. I honestly don't know how VW do it and make a profit
