Few jobs there for the winter nights. How much did the headlight lenses rush you ?
-
Knew I'd seen this somewhere before. Good find Andy.
-
Easy now

Cheers Jim. I'm right with you on the OE comment. Thanks also for the link to the springs. Be nice to have a ride in Vr with this set up first, but I'm sure you'll let me know if it's poor. Look forward to seeing the stance pic :D

Hi Jim Would you be a sport and post a picture of the VR please. Having heard good things about these shocks, I'd be keen to see how the car sits with them and the KW springs fitted. Out of interest, which KW springs did you opt for ? You'll probably find the squeaking is down to the new seals of the shocks or perhaps topmounts ?. They'll soften up with time I'm sure.

Top drawer Sir. My last Corrado was white. Always thought it was one of the best colours (when clean) and would have another in a breath ! Old school rims as well. Boss ! Keep them pictures rollin'

I'm sure that this alone will equate to the GDP of most third world countries. And don't forget confirmation of your overdraft. Had a brief look at an 840 last year after seeing one in Manchester. Stunning car and I'm sure you've done your homework. Keep us up to speed with all the details and hope it all goes well. :D

The tightening force (according to Bentley) for the neck bolts is 10nm. Useful to know as to avoid the same issue again. Best of luck.

An OE one does as that's what I bought recently. The rear spoiler collar uses a similar brass insert and that did a similar thing to me. If it's any use, I have an old radiator that I don't mind butchering for bits, should you need them.

re post but anybody got any info on the press cars
James. replied to yoda_jedi master's topic in General Car Chat
I wouldn't beat your self up about it. I've contact VW direct about my car. Whilst they were very enthusiastic about it and could reveal the cars service history, the marketing department drew a complete blank. Which really puzzled me as the whole point of the car was a marketing excersize. I can't even contact the supplying dealer as they closed their doors many moons ago. Have you tried writing to any publications or at least VW UK ? What is it your trying to unearth ? -
Not quite RS/RM/RX (edit to taste) but felt obliged to follow "BBS orders"

With it being a late VR, I would assume that it has the humped rear seat. And assuming that your G60 has a hump as well, then all is good (Most I've seen have). But if you ain't got the hump (excuse the pun) then you won't be able to fit it. If you know what I mean ?

I did mention to said glazing engineer about chocking it in place but he seemed happy with his solution and so far I'm not at liberty to argue :D

After many a debarcle I can happily confirm that mine is fixed. It took a strongly worded email to head office for them to send out their "problem solver". As I've heard before, the trick is to not let the screen slip down once put in place. The chap who installed mine, taped the screen to the body work (after asking my permission first). Worked a treat thus far. Oh and he wasn't as shy with the sealant as the last chap either.

Is the rake OE ? This seasons Edition 38 must have component.

I bought four 205 50 15 Kumho KU31 tyres from Camskill (Spent ages trawling websites for the cheapest delivered). Had them delivered the next day. Took them to the fitter at the top of my road and had them balanced and fitted for for a tenner ! For the money they are very very good and would buy them again.

Here's what I used. And it made a massive difference: 1, Shampoo (What ever you have in the shower at the time). Sounds daft, but if it's mild enough for human hair... Along with a small amount of conditioner. Washed off with lots of water and left to dry in the sun. 2, Gliptone leather cleaner and Conditioner. Warmed the leather in the sun and then worked the cleaner in with a nail brush. Wipe off any residue with a damp jay cloth (rinsed in a bucket of clean water after every wipe) then conditioned several times at least. Had a go with other cleaners but this was way ahead of all the others. For the best results the carpets and seats need to come out, but it's a job that should only need doing once.

Someone fancy swinging by mine and scanning my 92 VR6 (2x2 connector). She's in the garage, not going anywhere fast. I'm a couple of minutes from junction 26 of the M6 (Wigan/Upholland). Coffee and biscuits at the ready...

What's your sunroof seal like ? If it's leaking badly then there may be too much water for the sunroof guttering to deal with. Head linings a 20 min job at most. Once that's out I'm sure you'll spot the leaky bit !
-
Check all the cables/grommets that run into the cabin. From personal experience, I traced a leak from where the bonnet cable enters the car (next to the wiper motor). the grommet had become loose and allowed water in behind the fuse box. Another one could be the drivers side sunroof connector pipe could be blocked. There's quite a lot of potential leak areas so you may have to strip quite a lot back in order to locate it. Have you had the car apart or carried any recent work out that may have displaced something ???

Looking good as ever. I think you need to speak with these people though :http://www.ocdaction.org.uk :D

Cheated on the manifold just for this year and painted the front part and then used wire wool to fade it back to give a clean but not perfect finish...yes my name is andrew and i have OCD..!!! Used autosmart g101 degreaser mixed in a bucket and various brushes and a hose pipe, have gone over it a few times and dressed it with ultra trim. Will take most of the front end apart over winter and restore/replace what needs improving. Thanks for the positive feedback.[/quote:23iiu4uk] You're very welcome Andy. I'll be keeping an eye on you're work if you don't mind and may tap you up for more information along the way. Thought you may like to know that I bought a Varta battery from Thompsons of Macclesfield (ebay) this week for a keen price. Great product and might be worth a look if you're still in the market for one.
-
Looks great under the hood. May I ask if the manifold is painted or shot blasted ? If so how was it achieved ? Also any tips on getting the bay clean ? As you can tell it's one of the next "big jobs" All the best, James

Radiator back on (after mis-fitting the fan and having to take it all apart again). The temperature seems to climb a lot slower than before (which is fair enough) but doesn't seem to want to reach 84 deg. Fans not cutting in :confused4: Took it out for a run a couple of days ago and she cut out about a mile from home. Unsure whether the battery I have really has had it or whether it's fuel starvation. Showing an eight of a tank though :confused4: New battery ordered and should be with me any day. Had to leave it overnight near my old primary school (nice area so not too concerned). Got it home and then needed four grown men to push it on to the drive  How heavy is a VR6 by the way !!! New windscreen fitted today, after I sent the head office a rather cutting email. The chap seemed very affable and professional. Time will tell whether his work bears the same reaction. Not sure if I'm going to risk York on Sunday. It's going to be a close call if I do though. Fingers crossed...
