  1. I filed off some of the new door pulls, just a little of the tail end which meant that they didnt get caught.
  2. Cant find the thread where someone asked me to get hold of these but here they are anyway - part numbers for the rocker and the piece that it pivots on Parts 12 and 29 numbers are below N/S (12) IHO898019 O/S (29) IHO898020 Hope this helps
  3. I've just recently installed a double din pioneer avic d3 into my corrado, it took a lot of butchering to the internals of the dash and to the centre console, moving the heater controls down by about 5cm and creating an internal frame out of aluminium for the unit to sit in. Also you have to remake the surrounds for both the sat nav and the heater controls as the shaps of the centre console surrounding them change as you move them up or down. I will add some pictures of the finished items over the nxt few days - but dont give up on the idea - looks awesome when finished! Does the phone hands free, connects to the ipod, plays music from ipod, dvds, phone (via BTooth) and miniack input, and will play videos from dvds also. Good piece of kit Also - I have an USA spec avic d3 to sell to anyone in USA who reads this forum - is brand new - pm me if interesed and i will put a proper advert in the sales section. Tim
  4. make sure u get some new gaskets, as the older ones tend to come off in pieces! £14 for the set from VW main dealer, also when doing ya polishing/grinding, make sure you seal up all the holes in the inlet manifold or you will have to wash all the stuff out from the inside. Tim
  5. Is there a difference between the above two?? Have purchased 2 manifolds on the cheap from the bay of e that were advertised without specifics! Any way of finding out - and are they likely to be OBD1 or OBD2 or does it matter? Many thanks Tim
  6. there are stories of them scratching along the inside of the roof whilst in the slide back mode, but not really sure how this could happen unless the tilt mechanism was initiated at the same time! Tim
  7. IMO it sounds very much like the wire that runs from the motor to the passenger side mech has snapped at the point where it joins the sliding pieces. Same as what happened in mine, u need to take the whole lot out and replace that piece of the slider with the complete wire. An easy thing to do....once the sunroof is out and after you have re-aligned the whole mech!!! I wrote a how-to on this problem a while back.... http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... 19&t=61911 The reason it takes makes the panel tilt up ok is cause it still is able to catch the mechanism and pull the wire forwards, however to make the roof tilt downwards it has to push the mechanism which it cant do because it is not attached to it anymore. It also has to push the mechanism to make the roof slide backwards. I expect that when u try to send to roof backwards or down, the motor either strains slightly and then clicks or just clicks and doesnt do anything further Hope u do ok with the mend, is worth it with the summer coming. Tim
  8. on the actual motor there is a small plastic cover that swings over the allen key hole for manual opening/closing. If this has been moved from covering the hole perfectly then the motor is disabled. Make sure that this is covering the hole and it may solve your problem. You may have knocked it whilst changing the roof lining. Tim
  9. sorry, slightly brash! you are correct with the part number as you stated, but people were talking about replacing just the rocker piece, whereas he needs the slide that it articulates on. This actually all comes as one piece but has a different number (if i remember correctly) that i cant find from my previous chats about sunroofs. Tim :salute:
  10. nope, all wrong. Having had the whole system in bits twice and initially coming up with the same idea that that that rocker or "Left locking segment" needer replacing because the rubber wheel looked rubbish, I realised that it is actually the pivot piece that it articulates on which is the issue. U need to get a new one of these pieces which includes the piece that slides in the track. It is relatively easy to do but if u have not taken the sunroof to bits before then read this link: http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... 19&t=61911 The appearance of the rocker not sitting properly is due to it's pivot having been bent upwards when the sunroof didn't open or close properly on a prior occasion. This normally co-incides with one of the motor wires that drive the unit snapping, but if yours is still running with some persuasion then u may have avoided that. Good luck Tim
  11. Have a look at this for getting to the sunroof mechanisms and drainage pipes http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... 19&t=61911 Hope it helps Tim
  12. Spray on carpet glue (B&Q) is what i used when completely upholstering the door cards. Spray it onto the leather/material and the door card, then wait about 15s before pushing the two together and holding them there for a few minutes. That should hold them together. You do have to get the back seats out to get the rear door cards, off. There are two bolts for each seat at the split point, and then u need to get to the pivot point on the outer aspect of each seat and have a look, there is a lever at that point, inside the mechanism that you can push with a flat headed screwdriver. You can then lift the seats out having pulled the release tab at the top of the seat. Up by the top of the seatbelt there is a plastic piece that has two screws in it, remove that. Also there is a screw down by the base of the door, remove that. Now give the rear doorcard a good yank and it should come loose. You can either do what u need to do now with the seatbelt still in place or u can use the wheel spanner from the boot to undo the large bolt at the bottom of the seatbelt and remove the whole unit. Hope this helps Tim
  13. lol, that kept me for a bit too!
  14. godd effort, did u have fun getting the plastic bits out of the top of the front seat uprights where the head rest slots in. I fully screwed up my fingers until i worked out that u have to use the right size socket set on an extension to push the splay pieces together and the shove hard! Looks like ur on to a winner with the foam, good luck carving out the inners! Tim
  15. Has anyone done this to a VR6 late dash - any tips on the conversion?? Tim
  16. stuffing is the word, but i kinda rubbed all the powdery broken foam out of the middle of the damaged parts first, then cut foam to fit the holes with a little extra and then stuffed and covered the hole with tape, i would be wary though as i used parcel tape under my leather as it stuck to the foam the best, but if ur putting it under material it might be better to glue some other material over the top to avoid rubbing any tape off witht the movement of the material over the top. Not sure how much of an issue this might be. Tim
  17. not sure where to get hold of a new bolster, from the pics these look like recaros?? What i would advise is getting some foam and rebiulding the bolsters from within and coevering with parcel/gaffa tape, reshaping will be phenominally difficult and getting the right strength foam will be difficult. I filled the holes in mine with some similar foam that remade the shape of the bolster, you cant notice the difference once the covers are back on. Tim
  18. adam - if u r in the southwest i can give u a hand with it, only takes one day at the most
  19. cant remember what i wrote that needed removing, apologies T
  20. this is the mechanism that is on each side, back of the car is L and front is R the rocker is as named, normally this bit survives when the bit that i think is broken gets snapped, but the piece that it pivots on gets bent. This is the bit that you have to replace and costs about £35, this is also one of the pieces that slides along the track that the whole system runs along. The bit will have most probably caused all of these probs by braking is a bit that you cant see without completely dissassembling the unit, it is one of the three pieces that slides in the track. It is the only piece attached to the wire/bush thing that runs thru the motor, this is the piece below, and the pic below is this piece sticking out the end of the rear of the track that it runs in, you can also see the wire that the whole mechanism runs on. Ideally u need to source a complete cassette from a scrappy or from ebay so u can nick the bits that have had it on yours this is a possible alternative for parts http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-MK3-GTI-VR6-Tilt-Slide-Glass-Sunroof-Mint_W0QQitemZ270191769270QQihZ017QQcategoryZ9889QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem anyway, if u need any more help and dont mind driving to the southwest then i dont mind giving you a hand on a saturday. Tim
  21. sounds like one of the sliders that is attached to the wire running to the motor has snapped. It is the same as what happened to mine! Which side works and which doesnt as i might have the spare parts, but even with these parts you will prob have to buy a new rocker piece. Let me know. Tim
  22. not sure whether there were any other sunroofs than the one i've described, but someone educate me if there were. TBH if it is in the closed position, i would leave it well alone until summer unless u have enough garage space to do it in. post some pics of the sunroof controls and ill let u know if they are different. Quick question, when u activate the motor, does the roof go kinda skiwiff? does it look like one side is OK and the other is not working? Tim
  23. when they did the respray, i'm guessing that they removed all the sunroof and working parts in order to do the roof panels properly. When they put the roof back in it is held onto the mechanism by four bolts, these are slightly adjustable for height and front/back movement so u can fit the roof exactly. They probably did not take the time to do this properly. If u want to do it u need t remove the headlining and take the cassette mech out, and then take the sunroof lining out and undo the four bolts that hold the roof panel in place, shuffle the panel forward and then tighten and put everything back. This should sort it. If it doesnt then the have fucked up the alignment of the motor with the mechanism and that is a bit more difficult to sort out. Have a look at this if need be: http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... 19&t=61911 Tim
