  1. ....big crowd planned for the Sunday
  2. ... I suspect that's not his car!
  3. Looks like Aqua Blue to me - paint code should be on a sticker on the inside of the drivers wing and/or on a sticker in the boot on the back face of the rear of the boot (if that makes sense...!) Mark
  4. Good investigative work Bryn; are we talking about early v late CCM code boxes or are the earlier boxes a different code? M.
  5. All done Mr Overmind. (Still don't get your weird user name, lol!) See you at the weekend M.
  6. Had the same thing happen on some I tried. They were a bit tight going on and then did that when I torqued them up - rubbish. FK's for the record, so even some of the well known brands can be suspect...
  7. Wow, does look cracking. I really hope you spent ages resetting the window winder so that it sits absolutely parallel to the door handle when in the closed position - please tell us you did! Lol
  8. Yes, well done Matt. Getting that sample to review is critical though, I recall there was an ebay seller offering new screw covers but the guys who bought them reported that quality and fir was highly questionable.... M.

    Why?

Whenever I read these sort of stories I'm always reminded of that bit in Pulp Fiction where John Travolta is complaining that some one has keyed his car on the first day it came out of storage. The character makes the point that it would almost be worth the car getting keyed if he could have caught the ****er doing it. I'm inclined to agree...
  10. Doesn't look like either party walked away from that one... :(
  11. Lads, lads, you're missing a fundamental point here; it was crushed because it had a Vauxhall badge on it.....!
  12. Erm, euro mirrors have no text on them at all.... not sure if that ranks as cool or not?
  13. Immobiliser may be adding to your woes.... It's probably worth biting the bullet and getting a decent auto electrician to look at it.
  14. Sounds good to me Phil, I'm off work on Friday and plan to be drunk by 6:30 so Saturday would be better for me - any particular time suit you? I'm happy for the other guys to take the door cards and ash tray though... M.
  15. I could be tempted to stock up on some spare grey parts..... and I'm not so far from you so could happily collect on Friday / Saturday. What could you offer for a £100 budget? Mark
  16. Ah yes, apologies - was looking for the £ sign....!
  17. I would guess you'll need a new ignition barrel, ignition switch and possibly a new steering cowl. There are various sources for a new barrel and switch, there's a few ebay dealers that do them, or you could try somewhere like TPS if not your local VW dealer themselves... The steering cowls are more than likely obsolete now (try TPS though to see) so either a breaker on here or an ebay search is your best bet. HTH Mark
  18. Good find Bill, but I think that's from a goof or maybe a Vento... Doesn't look like a Corrado one to me - might still do the job though I guess and for a fiver you can't go far wrong
  19. Been wondering why I could hear gurgling noises every time I turned the ignition on or off ever since I had my coolant system fully refurbished, including a full samco hose swap. Rooted around in the loft and dug out the old hoses and low and behold, I can see the small brass valve sitting a little way inside one of the pipes. A bit of fairy liquid and some pipe wiggling later and out pops the valve onto the table. Popped it into the equivalent samco hose in the same orientation as I found it and no more gurgling - happy days! Jim, I don't think it's that clear in the diagram above, the valve should be positioned so that coolant can flow towards the throttle body - the valve goes in the left hand connection on the throttle body as you look down on it. HTH Mark
  20. I had never had the pleaseure of meeting Chris in person but, like many Forum members I'm sure, I had found many of his posts very helpful in sorting out problems with my car. His knowledge and input into obscure problems will be sorely missed. RIP
