  1. tried it on an astra I used to own, its not too hard to get a resonable finish that stands up from a distance, on closer inspection you could tell they'd been DIY-tinted though. I did that a while back and since then I've been told that multiple coats followed by t-cut and a polish over with wax gives a much better finish. If it all goes pear shaped you can always use thinners and get them back to how they were!
  2. bit like a zip but it gave better compression on the photos download here - http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
  3. shortly after i got my old car lowered, speedbumps appeared down my road, very annoying since they're the steep kind and my splitter caught unless i was very carful, its even worse int he vr6 as thats a fair bit lower, but the splitters fecked anyway and I'll probably swap it for a 50mm one for the sake of practicality. daft thing is its a very quiet road leading into a residential area, you'd not really have any need to go down there unless you lived there and in the 3 years I've lived on the estate theres never been an accident and i dont think I've ever seen anyone speeding (not excessivly anyway).
  4. yup, plastic covers for the headlamps, i'd think VAG ones are probably rarer than rocking horse 'dung', but i have seen them and tinted ones at that!
  5. i think its the boot lid, i'm sure i can see glass! as for the lights - if you could find some headlamp protectors you could tint those and not risk fecking your lights? think the fogs would 'have' to be sprayed though.
  6. theres a fair few 'VRG' plates on the dvla's site, half thought about one but A) it'd only ever apply to a vr6 and who knows, i might not own one forever ;) and B) I'd rather spend £250 on something shiny :D
  7. a*se! what are my options then? would crossovers help?
  8. the dash speakers are 4ohms, not sure what the door ones will be, although I've just agreed to buy some infinity5002i's which the infinity site says are also 4ohms. I'll have to dig my headunit manual out and see if it'll take 2ohms then!
  9. looks superb mate, just keeps getting better and better! I'd be interested to know exactly how you do the led replacements for the lock-pins though!
  10. mines currently wearing chris vr6nos's private plate (k1 cpw) and although its his initials everyones spotted its private, depends what you get i suppose. I'd go for the G6 OSF, pretty good if you ask me!! C28 VRG was on the dvla site a few weeks ago...shame it wasnt C29! was only £250 too...
  11. i replaced the dash speakers last weekend with some little *cough* full range speakers rather than going for just tweeters. With the OEM speakers there were two wires running in, then 2 wires coming back out again which I assume then run down to the doors. Basically I chopped the 'in' wires and used one of those little white connector blocks to wire up the new speakers, leaving the 'out' wires down to the doors disconnected. my question is: when i come to reconnect the 'out' wires for some door speakers I was just going to pop them into the same connector block as the dash speakers, but it occured to me that they would then be running in parallel rather than in series as the OEM ones do, is that good/bad/indifferent?
  12. have you seen the way the italians drive? and their lack build quality/reliability is well known, so basically you're going to get a load of self driving cars tear-a*seing around until one of the wheels falls off... i can do that well enough myself!
  13. looking really nice! IMO the lower the better with those wheels, get them tucked under the arches!
  14. edd, might be worth talking to darren (g-man) about the width thing, IIRC theres a fair bit of work involved in getting them to fit.
  15. 0-100 in less than 6 seconds? bet getting the gear changes in at the right times took a bit of practice! thats insanely quick though, surely on a par with a high powered motorbike?
  16. i looked at the cup 3 replicas after admiring the ones Jay has on his g60, but TBH its the dish/split style the proper porsche ones have that makes them look so good on his, the replicas dont quite have that same feel. I'm willing to be proven wrong if anyone has them though, i've never seen the replicas fitted to a real C, just my photoshop mockups.
  17. while borrowing a micra recently, i rediscovered the fun of hitting a speedbump at 40 in a small car. The neighbours must have thought I was mad flying at the speedbumps down my street in a little blue hippo, dukes of hazzard stylee
  18. haha 106's come with 'autocrash'? when you get sick of the sight of it you press a button on the keyfob and it drives itself into a wall...handy!
  19. thats not the reiger one is it? IIRC they're a bit more flat that that. looks good in that pic but i'd like to see a side-on shot to see how it effects the profile of the car
  20. I like the 2nd from last picture, very back to the future!
  21. if theres no noise is it possible to tell if somethings amiss without taking the engine to bits then?

    Ronal R7's

could look quite nice so long as the 8" ones arent too 'domed' if you see what i mean
  23. from conversations i've heard Chrisvr6nos having they're drilled into the 'spots' (I assume the welds?) otherwise they dont bite properly, I'm sure he'll be able to fill you in on some more details when he spots this thread!
