trig's 94 OBD2 VR6 - New Wheels!!!! (...finally)
chrishill replied to Trig's topic in Members Gallery
some form of civic in that case! -
actually mate, do a nationwide search for 1.4's and set the results to 'show 200' so you get more than mk3's. theres a fair few mk4's in that price range that havent been cat-d'd, so it might not actually be that much of a bargain.
-
iow_corrado_g60, OSV is the resident obsessive/compulsive ;) having seen the car up close last year, its showroom-perfect.
-
very cheap for a mk4! the owner might still have the engineers report from the insurance company explaining why it was written off, it'd be worth a look if he has since it'll tell you exactly what was wrong with it and give you clues on what to check.
-
I did! my old VR was cat-d'd when chrisvr6nos had it due to a side/front impact. It was all fixed up with his payout though after he bought it back and drove/looked perfect. it takes suprisingly little for a corrado to be cat-d'd. 'uneconomical to repair' is all to easy to achive if you damage a large panel, since the insurance companies will be buying new parts from VAG. its good value if its just bodywork you can fix yourself for less than you're saving over a stright example, and remember if you come to sell it on, cat-d puts buyers off.

i dunno, eubanks managed in brighton (kind of!)
-
what is it they say about overcompensation?
-
i only ever slam it enough to get the wheels into the arches!
-
yup! unless its a wheel from 1964 or something random it'll be ok.

hours and hours and HOURS of fun

Looks like the 'rat might get saved! Opinions..

oh man thats sad news, RIP ratty :( -
hmm, maybe a darker colour, but in all honesty the standard colour freshly refurbed looks superb, I always think 'coloured' standard rims look a bit nasty, thats just me though!
-
works on the pug because of its rally associations, I'm not sure it'd work so well on a C.
-
or (IIRC) a leon panel... TBH thats a bit cheap compared to what they go for on ebay, i sold one just before xmas for almost £100!
-
thats a really cool idea mate
-
I'm not entirely sure! I'ev a feeling they run behind the rear 'door' cards which are a bu&&er to get off. I just tucked mine out of the way and forgot about them!
-
you can use the existing wires, but they're a bit lacking. Personally I'd run new wires, far be it from me to knock VW but they did skimp a little on the audio system in the corrado! you can run them down the center tunnel, or along the side of the car, the choice is yours!
-
I'd price that at about £6500 then, relativly low miles and a very nice looking example, I still dribble when i see oak green, it just looks so right. oh and take it from one who knows, you WILL regret it!
-
that looks f&&&ing awesome mate. I'd put her up for 6k dependant on history and miles, more if you're in no hurry!
-
it ends up around the button area, although I'm not sure if they're directly connected, the one I'm talking about goes from the internal door pull to the catch, however there is another very simular rod under the button, so it could be worth checking that out too, espcially considering what you said above...
-
the metal rod that operates the door catch rattled against the door on mt vr6. I small bit of foam is supposed to stop it, but it wasnt really doing its job! I found bending the rod in the middle a little stopped it.

this happened to my sister when she owned a pug 205 many moons ago. She lived in yorkshire and had a letter about leaving the scene of an accident somewhere up in scotland! apparently an identical pug had reversed into someone elses car and then bu&&ered off, only they caught him on CCTV and got the registration. Fortunatly my sister was able to prove where she was at the time, and had witnesses to say her car was parked at work at the time of the accident. The police did dig about a bit but eventually dropped it relising my sister had nothing to do with it. she sold the car the next week, worrying what else this scotish nutter might get up to!

heh, you're finally back in the fold then walesy? hold the door open for me, wont be long! ;)
