Once the strut has been assembled, it should slip straight in. You obviously need spring compressors to assemble the strut in the first place though.

I wouldn't say that it was bad as a car. It was far too thirsty for my 60mile commute for my liking but it was comfortable and a good cruiser. I did feel very precious over it though and that was bad on the Oxford ring road! I agree! I'll have another 911 as well!

Are you married to my wife? Sorry :(

Being stubborn worked this time for you :)

Ok, Good luck.

Does that mean that an Englishman living in Scotland can vote then?
-
I replaced my first Corrado with a 964, brilliant but painful in daily driver mode! Mine was mapped and decatted with 300 brake! Sounded amazing!

... Then why do the English, Welsh and Norn Iron people not have a say as to whether Scotland should or shouldn't have independence? Personally I think independence will be a bad thing for the Scots and I have a funny feeling that the English would vote Scotland out of the union. That Salmond clown is pretty clueless! The basic economic figures are (taken from the Scottish government website itself) that 45.2bn comes into the economy and 64.5bn goes out with the rest being subsidised by the rest of the UK. Those figures take into account, the Scottish share of the oil and gas industry. Also 17% of Scotlands gdp is spent on health. That can't be a good thing and I'm sure free subscriptions and universities will have to be re thought. Discuss.

Could this be right? Brand new VR6 steering wheels fom VW Classic?
Sean_Jaymo replied to Hofmiester's topic in Ebay and Misc
Porsche and Mercedes however have a really good classic parts division. Despite how regularly you see a beetle or a camper van converted Into a lunch box or a pencil sharpener, vw just don't seem to care about the enthusiast. -
I'll do £45 posted. Offer only stands for today though.

Speaking of which, any progress a week later? -
Just call it servicing costs mate :-P

Yeah, that is what the k line is for. But they can all operate independently of each other without it :-) I have climate and a non standard abs system thrown in with my 24v and not a k line in site. But as you say, irrelevant to your question! I'll have mine powered up over the next week or 2, I'll look into it for you then! A quick look on Vcds website shows that misfire count in blocks 10 through 19 are locked unless activated. The lite version may be your issue. Where are you? If you are close, then you are more than welcome to drop by for me to have a look for you.

Yeah, there is a plug for this blue lead near the starter that corrodes up and can cause this.
-
Nice! Good work!
-
Which ECU is that for then? ABS, MK4 Engine? Either way, you don't need k line at all unless it is built into the engine harness but it doesn't need to be connected to anything else what so ever.

With powder coating, go for quality over price if you can. I got a local powder coated to do a lot of my stuff and i'm not full of confidence with it lasting. The guy I used tends to specialise in gates and not car parts... I'll see how it wears! Good effort though, always pleased when I see somebody getting stuck in!

There is no K Line in the Corrado. The Mk4 ECU does talk to the Mk4 Teves60 System but only as part of the EDL system. The Mk4 ECU doesn't care if the ABS system is working or not. It has nothing to do with the install when it's in a Corrado.I'm not sure if mine is enabled or not, i've not looked. I've got the full VCDS, I'll look into it when I have the engine running next.
-
The mk4 ecu has no connection at all to the Corrado abs system. Also, I can't see how a system that measures rotation speed can work out if a road is bumpy or not. If the stock ecu had accelerometers in it (which I doubt) then maybe that could disregard false misfire alerts. The abs system in the Corrado is completely independent from any other system. It has a primitive version of an edl built in but that only applies braking pressure to a spinning wheel to simulate the diff lock. It doesn't care in the slightest what ecu or engine is in the car.

I love this car Gareth! Not so keen on the fast and furious gauges. But each to their own.

You can change the radiator without removing all of that, but you cut your hands to pieces. And swear. A lot!

Corrado Part Duex - 24V Aqua Blue - She's gone.

Cheers Hasan! It's been a voyage of discovery as regards to electrical safety. The amount of frankly dangerous things that have been found on this old skip is generally unacceptable! Like you say, the alarm fitters that have been near this car in the past obviously have no skill, talent or concerns for the safety of their customers. -

Bit more progress. I'm in the process of mounting the battery in the boot so I thought I would mount the earth lead to the chassis near where I will put the battery itself. So, I pulled back the carpet and found some very dodgy alarm wiring! Hardly any insulation tape over the very poor joints. Luckily I looked behind there, it could have been very dangerous if left alone. I set about rewiring the dodgy cables so now it's not a fire waiting to happen and I mounted the battery earth lead to a convenient hole which only needed opening slightly. Paint was removed prior to mounting the earth strap and the bare metal was protected. Much better! Now I just need to get a battery tray, an inline fuse holder and about a metre of battery cable. The E46 cable is about a metre too short to fit the battery next to the rear light. I'm hoping the battery will fit entirely in the recess so that I can fit a false side to hide it and anything else I decide to fit in the boot. -
The blades do last longer. I changed a set on our mk5 golf that had been on the car since new. 7 and a bit years old before they started to split. That's good value in my book!
