  1. I but for reference, the pt number is vd 176 404 a2 and costs just shy of 18 quid. Box says silicone sealant for sumps.
  2. I've got a tube of the vw stuff in the garage if you want it mic?
  3. Just get it bought Rams! We don't have to worry about nigel selling his car to a waster or listen to you pining for a new c!
  4. No not handed. So long as they aren't fitted the opposite way around, it matters not if they are upside down! With the guide pins, as long as they go in without needing forgetting your good. No pre bleed required. Pressure bleeder will sort it all out! So long as you don't use it at more than 10 or 12psi otherwise you risk damaging seals in the master cylinder.
  5. Either you can do that or get this kit (so long as you are going to do 56000 miles in the car before you want to reap the rewards!) http://www.eurotuning.cz/images/file/conversion_kit.pdf
  6. Have a look into a Gemini box. They are not cheap or easy to find though. The other option is to fit a 02M box but you will need to change the flywheel, clutch, thermostat housing and get a mount adapter and custom driveshafts made up. You will then have a 6 speed box that is stronger for boost etc but ultimately, the difference between the stock 5 speed and the 02M 6 speed ratios in their respective top gear is very little. By going to the lengths of fitting a 02M box, you don't end up with a much longer top gear. Only a few hundred RPM at most and not worth the hassle. Why are you after a 6 speed box? If you are looking at fuel saving, then look at having a diesel 5 gear from a mk3 golf TDI fitted in place of the stock 5th speed. The bell housings between 4 and 6 cylinder engines is different so you can't simply fit a diesel box in place. Whether you can get a diesel mk3 box and fit the bell housing from the vr6 box to that instead, or not, I don't know.
  7. I believe you can fit a 6 speed 02S gearbox innards into the stock 02A housing.
  8. Free to a good home, All 4 door cards and rear seats. In decent condition, no real marks to be spoken of. Not show condition but perfectly fit for daily. I don't have any pics as they are in the loft! I need the space, no other reason. Grey fabric with blue and green tracer accents with dark outers. Same pattern as this. I'm in Lincolnshire and due the nature of the stuff, I won't post so collection only. If it doesn't get rehomed, I'll have no choice but to send them to scrap heap heaven. Thanks
  9. I think it's actually pronounced "Car Park Canon" Sean :-)

    Welcome back! Nice dials!
  11. The sealey tool does work but access is poor. The flexible brake lines limit just how far you can drop the beam. Not impossible though :-)
  12. Well done! Definitely worth the effort and not too difficult a job either once you get your teeth into it!
  13. That's the best way to do a rubbish job :-)
  14. If your replacing bushes AND brake pipes. Drop the whole beam off. If you don't have the tools to fit the bushes, save yourself the pain and ask a local garage to fit them, most charge an hours labour for it. This is what I did, but I also wire brushed and painted the beam before doing the lines. Pressing your own bushes in is not fun at all!
  15. As title. Must be working, I can live with the glass oxidising but would like it to be pretty tidy on the whole. I'm in Lincolnshire and I know nobody lives here so would be after it being posted out!
  16. With values of these things as they are, I wouldn't sell mine after all the investment I've put into her. If I got bored of it, I'd look at storage options. Certainly after selling my last corrado and regretting it! That's just me though :-)
  17. When I left Corrado's last time, I went 911 964 which I got for 14k and ran that for a few years and when running costs became ridiculous I straight swapped it for a nice S2 Elise 111S. The Porsche was great as a daily apart from the early 20s mpg. It was comfortable, fairly refined, quick and easy to drive. The Lotus was amazing in most respects and I never found it hard at all. It was loud inside though and hardly insulated from wind noise! I toured around the country in it and careful packing would see 2 adults for a few days in it easily. My brother has a S1 and that is far too hardcore for daily duties! Mine at least had a carpet and radio! If I had kept the Porsche it would have been worth close to 20k now though, which makes me sad! It's the only car I regret selling, although my wallet thanked me come fuel time!
  18. It's not moved in the 2 years I've known it, so I doubt it's going anywhere soon! It's not a driver by any means but it's worth a few quid as spares.
  19. I may know someone who could be persuaded to split with their mk3. It's not moved in ages but has all the bits you need and a nice leather interior for you to make your cash back on. I really can't wait to get driving it to see what all the effort returns as a driving experience!
  20. Fixed a few little problems on her today. There was a power steering leak that turned out to be a dodgy copper washer on the pump and a loose union on the rack itself. Also replaced all of the o-rings on the thermostat housing for peace of mind more than anything. The gear change has become tight over the winter and this was traced down to a gummed up pivot point on the tower so fixed, cleaned and greased and re assembled and all is well with the world! Also replaced the studs on the exhaust manifold ready to take a new exhaust. Pishing thing needed all the holes tapping and cleaning out as the winter had made the threads a bit messy. Finished off by relocating the alarm siren as the self tapper that the alarm fitter used was loose and not doing its job very well! Now fitted in place of the original battery. Not all good as I managed to snap off one of the upper clips on the grille. Bugger! How much is a new one? £400 I guess!
  21. I've got some spare ones Sean, send me your address and I'll bung em in the post. I've only got a few though so not a full set unfortunately.
  22. Is this carpet also made by Newton Commercials? Will they be doing the underfelt kit as well? If the carpet quality was plusher, I would be tempted at say the 180 mark seeing as the Newtown Commercials stuff is about £160 plus underfelt.
  23. Mine came to about £180 with gaskets, bolts, water pump, washers, aux belt, tensioner, filter etc. Didn't replace the chains or tensioners though.
  24. I popped into my local dealer and got a few bits myself mate and one of the things were the exhaust studs. Came in at 91p each but they were for the 24v headers. I'm sure they are the same though as the 12v ones so I thought I would give you a heads up to costs. Nuts were 31p each too...
  25. Thanks Nick, it's hugely appreciated! Funnily enough Coullstar, I have thought about it. The Lotus/Renault factory is literally 5 minutes from where my in laws live over near Enstone and I have a mate who is a CAD designer there at the moment. The only problem I see is that it's a very expensive part of the world to live in and the salaries don't quite add up for me. I saw that advert come up 2 years ago for that job too. Stuck my CV in on a whim but I had to give too much notice on my current job for them to progress any further! Small world eh! I can live with Manky Scotsmen, there are plenty of them in the RAF! It's the high and mighty Scot that bugs me. But I'm South African so not bothered really about the inter country rivalry! Right, sorry again! Ever thought of 4 wheel drive Nick?
