  1. I'll be ringing tps tomorrow which supply all oem parts so i'll let you know what the damage is
  2. That's what I wanted hear, should save me some pennies! cheers:-)
  3. The gearbox mounting has gone on my vr6, vibratech want £85 for a mount or do I get a Febi mount for £18! I've got a front vt mount so should I try and keep them all the same or save some £££ as I've got to fork out for a blowing downpipe as well, oh and some ht leads:-(
  4. I used my vr6 for work the other day and it returned 32.9mpg on a 23 mile trip, I saw 39 mpg a few years ago out of a previous vr in the past, but like everyone has said as an everyday car they are so old now that I can imagine running it daily would be a pain. For example the coolant pipes on most of the corrados these days will be very old and brittle, I took mine for a good blast the other day and thought one of the hoses had gone but it turned to be a faulty cap on the expansion bottle. I'd look for one with extensive history, nice if the engines been rebuilt and little things like samco hoses as I sure wouldn't want to say travel to France in mine as I just know one of the hoses would probably let go, (samcos are next in my list). £3-4000 for a minter and £1000-1500 for one that needs work I reckon.

    Vr6 power delivery

I've got a dyno for 198bhp/192lbft from stealth but that was in 2005 just after the engine was run in so will get it done again once the leads etc are replaced

    Vr6 power delivery

Yeah cheers clumpy, will be buying a new set of leads and I can't see a record of the car ever having a new distributer cap so might bite the bullet and just get one. Also read about the hall sender can be a problem in the cap so maybe I'm losing a bit of bhp through the ignition system

    Vr6 power delivery

Dizzy, might invest in new leads and maybe a cap but I've heard the caps are not cheap!

    Vr6 power delivery

You mean stealth would map the car to suit? I know the previous owner and have even contacted stealth by email who confirmed the work, but perhaps the fact it was done in 2005 then maybe they didn't do any software work on it? Just can't get my head around the linear power delivery as all the others I've had have took off at 4000 rpm. The low down grunt is v very good though so maybe that is masking it? Your responsive car compared to other vr's maybe the head work perhaps?
  9. I've done a fair old search today on the vr6 engines power delivery which seems quite different to my 1992 vr6. I've just sold a 1993 vr6 and it had a good old kick from 4000 rpm like all of my corrados have had and in comparison what i have now is what feels like loads of low end torque, (like loads compared to the standard 93 car) from 1500 rpm but i don't get that surge, kick at 4000 rpm? Engine was rebuilt by stealth using 82.5 oversize pistons, bmc cda intake and a magnex cat back exhaust, engines now done 80,000 miles. Its recently had a new lambda and fuel filter, also new plugs and filter and oil. I think one of the leads is arcing as i can hear a random sparking noise now and again with the bonnet up but i have no misfiring and a pretty smooth power delivery. All i can think of is either the leads are robbing me of a few bhp or the high torque is balancing out the low standard cars power under 4000rpm? I also did a 30-70 time in it the other day and got 5.2 secs which is not slow at all! but can't figure out why i don't have the fun top end i end that i always loved about all my old vr's?

    Vr coolant problems

Bought a new blue expansion cap today from tps, fingers crossed has cured the coolant leaking from the side of the header tank. Also water temps looked better on the gauge:-)
  11. My first corrado vr6 was a daily for 5 years, but the one I have now is a weekend car but I'll be taking her tomorrow for a treat, can't wait!:-)
  12. Looking at a few things on the internet, it could well be as some of the other guys have already said, that the VR6 with the distributor has the slightly less BHP, and the change over year late 1992 to early / mid 1993 for the coil pack VR6 has the slightly higher BHP. Thanks but i'm none the wiser, so the 'golf vr6 with a coil pack' has less bhp? as whether a corrado has a coil pack or dizzy they are both 190bhp so maybe they used the golf engine sticker data then?
  13. Yes a 1992 does have a cat, i can't believe I've found a question that nobody knows a definitive answer too! surely some rado experts must know why?
  14. hmmm, don't know I've had four 1992 vr6's and one 93' definatly said 135kw in all of them apart from the 93??

    16" speedlines

What about a couple of slightly bruised kidneys, a 4 and a half year old boy slave and £23?
  18. Somebody must of wondered about this? 135kw converts to 181 bhp and 140kw to 187 so why the different numbers?? I thought all corrado vr6's were 190bhp

    16" speedlines

Right how much you after! preferred them in anthracite though, but the gold is also very nice, so no chance of selling up then;-D?! Cheers clumpy i'll have a look at the link, id love a set of these, looks great on a green rado. Redborbet is your car LC6V pearl green?

    16" speedlines

Well done mate, i'll do a search now:-D And how rare are the those wheels! can't find any anywhere:-(
  25. Bit of a strange one but can anybody tell me why some 1992 vr6's have a 135kw rating as printed inside the service book and then a 1993 model has 140kw? i know the kw is a power figure and is translated to 190bhp but why are the 1992 cars 135kw? are they slightly less powerful? Never understood this!
