No I couldn't bring myself to buy it unseen, but for what I paid I can't see me losing either way, just need to get the sill checked out to see if it's worth doing as it will be a proper job! Have learnt my lesson in you get what you pay for. Yep mystic blue is the colour and they did do the colour on the golf but only 250 were made in mystic for the corrado storm.

Thanks for the photos gNo, this defiantly helps me to understand how its all put together. Must of been priceless driving the car after waiting two years I can't imagine doing mine myself as i can't weld but i would LOVE to have my own double garage with a beer fridge and lots of spare time:-) Heres a few more of the storm: And one of the green vr, note the wrong tyres on the front which will be getting changed asap
-
Try again gNo, would be a great help in understanding how its all fixed together:-) I'll take some more pics of the car today and post them up, liking the saves so far though!
-
Thats looks pretty lucky, if they insist on new parts it might be a write off but I'm sure a body shop could sort that for £4-500
-
Can you still buy the sills new? if so where?, vw heritage? i have a cut lined up but would prefer a new one
-
Cheers clumpy, thats a good start, in fact i might even start a vote.. save or scrap! Was a bit worried about the inner sill as its part of the chassis along side of the car. I've got a good bodywork guy that is no way cheap but would do a proper job so i'll price up what it will cost me soon.

Well I took a chance on a storm which was dropped off this morning and where do I start, the car has many problems but the main problem is the passenger side sill with looks like it's been attacked by a large rat! On a positive note the drivers side is pretty rot free, interior is good and it has 126,000 on the clock. The engine runs but has a gas conversion which I am looking to take off asap, engine is also very noisy and I suspect the chain tensioner has broken up and blocked the oil pump as the oil light is flashing. The sump will be coming off later this week for inspection. I must getting really sentimental about corrados these days as I really want to bring this one back to life! And I also still have my green vr6 but a having friend with thier own garage can seriously help along the road to storm recovery. Here's a pic of when it was delivered and also the extent of rot in the sill. Luckily the floor pan looks ok as I've had the carpet up but it's the inner sill that's looks a problem, will be deciding this week if it's worth saving?! be interesting to see what other folks would do in this situation:-)

I thought you guys might like to see my current VW...

If you do big miles don't get rid of the bmw diesel! The corrado is a second car in my eyes now, i wouldn't want to rely on one everyday, but i admire you if you do, and like the mk1:-) -
I thought the Z3M only came with the e36 evo m3 engine with 321bhp? Good shout these too, Oo 10 grand, spoilt for choice. E46 m3's are a great all rounder, been looking at these myself. What about an old 911? a friend has an old A reg targa which goes like stink 250bhp! M5 v10?, bit of a stretch but what an engine, mates just sold his mapped to 538bhp for £16,000
-
Ill just get the £65er that my mechanic friend can source then:-) oh and I'll be attempting a dash left in job, fingers crossed!
-
And I thought cause this was such a c#$@ of a job that it was best to go oem, aftermarket ok then?
-
So go with the febi bilstein from gsf? tps only have a left hand drive matrix and it's £150+! ill ring em again Monday and ask for a veleo, thanks rob:-) To top it off my top radiator hose elbow has collapsed now, what next?!
-
thanks, anybody know the best place to get a genuine heater matrix asap:-)
-
I'll be tackling this dreaded job asap and I've phoned tps for a genuine corrado vr6 heater matrix and the chap on the phone says that he has one but it's listed as left hand drive? Will this fit my right hand drive car? and seems strange that it would be listed as a left hand drive heater matrix over here where all cars are right hand drive, he wants £146 too! Does anybody have a cheaper solution and just as good alternative or am I best forking out for oem cheers

Yeah 650b is the most popular wheel size as its a good middle ground between the larger wheel benefits and flickability of a 26", think 27.5/650b all mountain, 29" xc and 26" downhill+fun! But jared graves came second in the enduro world series riding my bike, last year against all the other 650b boys but even he is now going 27.5 now i think
-
You can't go wrong with giants, they've made some great bikes. And you've done well going 29er it seems these days that 26" wheels maybe dying:-( well if you believe the hype and marketing but then they have timed 27.5(650b) and 29ers as being faster so maybe the wagon wheelers are here to stay! It's defiantly more fun whipping a 26" than a 650b/29er for sure though but then 20" is more 'fun' than them all, oh those were the days:-)

I'd change the plugs first if you've definatly replaced the leads, my old corrado used to go through plugs every 8,000 miles, I'd get the hiccup and was always the plugs

Great info chaps, my good friend has a mk1 golf vr6 which is one of his many projects, he also says that fitting a steel mk4 head gasket yields 5hp on its own, never heard that one? So if I fit them myself and then take it to stealth for a remap I should be fine. Would love to get my top end back as I have a very linear power curve looking at a dyno sheet for the car, it does have loads of low down grunt compared to a standard vr but I definatly do miss the top end Here's the last dyno I had for the car
-
A mates just informed me if I fit the 268's I have to take the head off as I need new valve springs?!
-
Just met a chap for a downpipe for my vr6 and he does a bit breaking and has just offered me some shrick 268 camshafts for my vr. I know everyone talks 263's on here but I can have them at a very good price and fit them myself then get a stealth map which will work out a lot of ££ saved rather than going to stealth for the whole job! So what sort of power do the 268's make? and do they have a peaky delivery?
-
Yeah top info and much appreciated, but alway a bit worried about fitting mk4 parts. Time is a big thing for me and would love to lock myself away in a unit with ramps and tools but i wish! I just want to get driving the car at the mo and can't enjoy the car without worrying about the engine mounting and exhaust blowing so itching to get it fixed this weekend:-D
-
Good advice kev, you obviously know your stuff:-) and i may just cancel my order with gsf and go with the oem from tps, thing is they had to order one in and i wanted it sorted for the weekend, gsf had one on the shelf
-
I'll probably just manage 500 miles in six months! but yeah you might be right, I feel like I should've gone oem for an extra £20, just got so much else to buy also at the mo
-
TPS want £46 for a mount so I got a mate to get me one for £23 through gsf, for the miles I do in the car it should be fine
