  1. All fuses look ok, but as for the box relays like fuse 21, how would i check these? It also looks like every things been apart at some stage?
  2. Thanks, i'll be inspecting the fuses today so i'll report back
  3. I've not used the storm for a month now but I bought a new battery yesterday and fired her up and I have been doing a search on the clocks and trip resetting problem. Also my mileage disappears when I remove the key from the ignition, very wierd? I've cleaned up the earth under the battery as I had a battery drain problem which I'll find out this week if it's still there and I also have a stupid non vw key which I think has a transponder built into it so I'm thinking something maybe up with the ignition switch? Also it has had a Clifford alarm which is completely non functional as I have no fobs for it etc so I suspect all of my problems are down to a nightmare of wiring behind the dash:-( What's my best bet? check all of the fuses or just pay an auto electrician to sort it out for me? but it would be nice to sort it for myself cheers matt
  4. Ah my old car! I can even see it still has the little dent in the front valance strip above the bumper I did/-) Looks great and nice to see it getting some love :-)
  5. I own a flat I rent out which has ridiculous service charge rates and apparantly if you have a few people in on a lease say three flats in one building then the leaseholder cannot refuse a reasonable offer if you all decide to club together and buy him out. Don't quote me on this though, just something I heard which maybe worth a look:-) P.s anybody know how to evict non paying tenants even after they refusing to go even after signing an agreement to leave! solicitors tomorrow/-(

    turbo or not

Keep the corrado and enjoy it for what it is, a great all rounder then buy a subaru classic type r for £5-6k, two door and get it mapped to 350bhp just to scare the super bikes;-). A friends just mapped his classic to 420bhp and it is savagely quick, a lot quicker than his recently sold v10 running 538bhp too! I've a hankering for an e46 m3 next, but my corrado won't be going anywhere and neither will my 330d!
  7. Same engine the 1.8t and early vrs isn't it, and mapped? quarter miles are not the corrado's strong poin and so many driver variables, never seen one do very well, i've had enough of them and been up against enough different cars to know how well they go once on the roll. I don't agree with a 1360kg 230bhp golf being any quicker than the old lighter vr rado.
  8. I thought my 330d with 500nm/370lbft would be quicker than the corrado until they were side by side. Any n/a aspirated car feels slower than a turbo motor in my experience, and I've had a few very quick turbo motors. Your mk6 211bhp golf weighing 1365kg will really be no quicker than a 1240kg vr6 surely? You just have to drive the living daylights out of the vr6 to stay with any modern turbo diesel/petrol car these days. Bottom line is a 230bhp lardy new age golf is no quicker than a old vr6 in my opinion, and how many post have people read about the r32 not getting away from a vr corrado?
  9. I think the results would be very surprising and would favour the corrado in just straight line speed. A corrado trying to keep up with modern suspension technology is a different matter. One thing technology cannot improve is power to weight and while the the corrado vr6 may not have a particularly high power to weight figure out on the road a properly driven vr6 is still a quick car. For example I drove down to collect a standard L reg vr6 a while back with a friend in my 330d which has roughly 230bhp and 370bft of tourque and we had some fun on the way home. I honestly thought the bmw would be quicker and on rolling start from 70-100 the little old vr6 edged the bmw not by much but I was very surprised. Drive a corrado vr6 like you should and the new golf will have a shock, guarenteed!!:-)
  10. Great cars, she looks mint! i enjoyed mine but i was plauged with boost leaks, (which i sorted) but sold her before an mrc trip... gutted:-( Heres my old one, it was S plate also, didn't even have esp.
  11. I had problem like this a while back on my old green vr and was getting paranoid about head gaskets etc, a quick trip to tps and one blue cap later all was sorted, I had coolant being chucked out of the side of the expansion tank and the new cap solved this for me:-)
  12. I'll have a look and get back to you

  15. Bmw and you cannot lose one in the wet at all with the traction on, they are very safe and lots of fun:-) If you do turn it off then just watch clarkson testing the 135i in the wet and see what happens.
  16. Little story on the founder of the gumball aka 'max, maximillion cooper', he lived in my small town namely upton upon severn and he taught me to ollie my skateboard years ago and I've still got his old board in my shed, top chap, know his mum and family lovely people, there are gum ball stickers plastered everywhere in upton:-D
  17. Hi Matthew The chains / tensioners were not done at the time of the head. Rpm box for manifold is £95 plus vat. Manifold fitting £150 plus vat. Custom Ecu remap £275 plus vat. Regards Vince. Git an a swift email back from stealth and unfortunately the chains were not done so that explains the chattering type noise at 1500-200rpm under load then, funnily went out in the car yesterday and it was really quiet but today was a bit noisier, but engine is silent above 2500rpm?
  18. I've just sent them an email, fingers crossed the chains have been done
  19. Yeah i thought he would have it on his system somewhere, it was done in 2007 mileage 196,309, might be a time consuming phone call if vince has to search back, he must of done quite a few! ill send him an email i think, theres no mad rush.
  20. The bill i have is a total of well over a £1000 but that includes a coil pack and a temperature gauge some cam followers and a few other bits, the head rebuild is just described as 'Head rebuild' and a price of £750? maybe the chains and tensioner looked okay at 95,000 miles? I've been spoilt coming from a silky smooth rebuilt engine i reckon! i'll give em a call
  21. Thanks, its a strange one as all the receipt states is top end overhaul and no mention of a head gasket set or anything, surely the head had to come off? or maybe they just refreshed the cam followers and seals etc. The noise isn't too bad either but i'm all paranoid now thinking about the chains, i think i'll email stealth and see what they say.
  22. Hi all, before I give stealth a call I was wondering if anybody else has had a top end rebuild and did it include the chains or tensioners being replaced? I have a receipt for a top end rebuild from stealth in with the receipts which was done at 96,000 and now the car has done 140,000. I get a bit of noise from the top of the engine when cold at 2000rpm which goes when the oil is warm but after seeing the damage a broken top tensioner does I might whip the top cover off to have a look at the top tensioner. In the stealth receipt it just says top end rebuild and some prices for cam followers and a coil pack but no mention of chains or tension pads, I'm assuming they havn't been done?
  23. I would definatly hand the car over to an electrical expert/mechanic that will sort it for you, if anything like this needs doing with my cars i just pass it on and hand them £££
