through? I am going to leave edinburgh at 7pm, going to glasgow, and throught to loch lommond. As long as we are clear of Glasgow by 8pm, I can still be around glencoe when its light and there is a good view.
-
Leon, If you can say u will meet me in Edinburgh or Glasgow at a certain time, we will go with that.
-
my reasons for doing it on a friday night, is that everyone is at home, or out drinking.... therefore not in my way. On a sunday u have a load of caravans and grandpoppies tootling along. Also... I have nothing to do tonight! Think I will leave Edinburgh around 7pm.....
-
I am sure there will be another time! At least that saves me a text! Joe, Leon, if u read this... I have to top up my mobile, so U might as well reply here if I havent Text u yet!

Hi If the weather holds up tonight, I am going to take the car a drive tonight. Going to leave edinburgh, head west towards Glencoe/Crianlarich, then head east again perhaps towards perth/auchteradarder, back to Edinburgh. It would be a nice big loop, without any doubling back to come home again! I will give those I have numbers for a text, but anyone one else wanting to join in let me know here.... we could get some really wicked pictures! I will be on CF at work all day. pics on page 2

fmic and one of the heads darren is getting in..... that should give you a rocket ship!

yeah. A guy on the forum sandy had a dyno plot that was done a while ago, but it showd the boost fly up to .8 by about 3.5 - 4k rpm, then it just sat level till the red line...... i wonder if he has it in his members gallery.....
-
std boost is typically around .7bar (I only get .65 on std pulley although i have p&p head/charger) Something must be affecting your isv that it is holding slightly more boost before bleeding........
-
the isv will also bleed boost if you hit .8 bar (11.603019 pounds per square inch)
-
retard you ignition a degree or two, your car must be pinking more than the ECU can adjust for, so as a safety boost gets vented through the isv. What is the RPM that the boost is vented at?

iirc one brake line comes from the master cylinder on my car (with ABS) to the ABS control box, which splits it into 4 outputs to each of the corners. If you wanted to get rid of your ABS you would need to replace all the brake lines so that they would come up to the master cylinder, and change the master cylinder. Have you actually had VAG-COM on your abs to see the problem? It might not be that expensive to fix - all of the parts that are hugely expensive new are pretty redily available second hand. Sensors etc are about £40. To get a garage to replace a the solid lines could cost a fair bit more.

Still at work just now, will be done at 10pm! Will give u a shout when i get home. The explanation wasnt for your benefit btw

I have not got flow figires for mine. Never realised u were getting this sort of work done! I would guess you know, but a head that can flow well on a bench can give a poor mixture spread when on the engine - the mixture turns round a 90deg readius to get to the back of the valve; if the porting is not done correctly the heavier droplets of fuel can get thrown to the outside. This is part of the reason that porting by hand is a sort of 'black art'.

I got mine P&P at Race Power Motorsport, and my car has given some good figures in return - 180bhp on std pulley. There are benefits to bigger valves, but I was told by RPM that the bhp/£ was not as good on forced induction cars as on n/a cars, and that on the G60 he wouldnt recomend it unless i was going crazy on uprating the engine.
-
Me or my mate couldnt get it, but half the battle was we were using the brakes method - so about 1/4 a turn was used to wind up the gearbox and clutch springs - everyone one else experienced this? Are we sure that using a screwdriver on the flywheel is safe? The ring gear isnt supposed to take that much torque!
-
is using exhaust wrap from the head up to and around the lambda likey to help this issue? By keeping more heat in the exhaust up to the cat rather than it soaking into the air surrounding the manifold and downpipe. Obviously there are other benefits to hot having really hot air in your engine bay.

The petrol smell comes from the petrol tank breather that used to connect to the carbon canister. What I have done to elliminate this problem is to extend that pipe through the cc hole so it exits under the chassis leg, outside the engine compartment.

hmm... twitchy finger

now...this is where my own opinions clash..... I know what I mean isnt wrong, and at the same time, you are 100% correct, autometrix have made it a business, rather than a 'for the cars' type show, and in that respect if they want business, they need to listen to customers. Still from a selfish point of view, if i go, it isnt as good because others are not. The thing i like about gti and ed 38 is its a weekend....it isnt worth my while travelling down for a one day show.

My review of my third GTI International...... Good bits.... Had a really good laugh on Friday night. Had a warm shower on Saturday morning. Saw some nice cars. Had a laugh with some good people on Saturday night. Met some good folk with interesting things to say while at the show. The official at the gate gave me £5 and a free ticket on Sunday Bad bits.... I left my flat on Friday at around 3.30pm, and arrived at the campsite just before midnight. I paid £45 for me and my two mates for a patch of bumpy ground for 36 hours and 6 showers (only 5 of which were actually taken, with only three of them being hot). I got less than 5 hours sleep on Friday night, and that was in the car. During this time I vaguely remember opening the door to be sick, however I chose to set this aside in my mind until shortly after I stood in it getting out of the car. On Saturday morning, after whistling various tunes through my a*se I went to the toilet to find they were out of service temporarily and smelling totally vile, forcing me to wait a further 30 minutes; a feat I am quite proud of given the magnitude of my hangover. The food, if I can call it that, was more expensive than I care to remind myself about. When we got back to the campsite on Saturday we found that the fly sheet had been sitting against the inner and had let water through, so had to spend a good few hours running in and out of the car between rain showers, using our sleeping bags as kites. As I never got my sleep, I had a very quiet night and never got into the spirit of things including sitting in near silence in the Snape and Sail and Whale and Lettuce - Sorry to all those that were there! On the Sunday by the time I got to the shower there was no gas, so had to have a cold shower. As with the Saturday, the cars were not jaw dropping like I remember from 2003, no sign of PVS etc only one company had some new super fast cars that I hadnt seen before. The show was stupidly long and thin. There was no queue for the strip, which made the show feel empty. I left Ipswich at 6:30pm and got home at 12:30am. In conclusion.... I had an excellent time, and dispite the show feeling like a lot was missing, the weekend as a package was excellent. I hope people realise a few things with GTI Inters before it is too late...... 1) The show isnt at TRL anymore, and although it may well be very much poorer than it was in the glory days. That is gone, get over it. It is still a VW show weekend, which is a better way to spend a weekend than a lot of other weekends I can think about in the last year. 2) This year was not as good as 2004, not because of the show, but because of the lack of people. This may be a little philosophical, but applies to a lot..... Life is what you make it. I went to have a good weekend, I acheived this and I will be going next year to do the same. It is also worth noting that I didnt speak to anyone who said they were having a bad time, so it cant be as bad as you are all making out. I am not at all saying that this is the finest show in the VW callender; far from it in fact, however it will dissapear from the callender if people dont go.

the bolts from vw probably dont allow quite as much adjustment as those, but are only a few pounds.....
-
any chance of sharing the solution before its locked?
