Worth a watch for the next week! Worthersee Webcams
andycowuk replied to Andy Brookes's topic in General Car Chat
been keeping my eye on cameras 1 and 4 over the last hour..... this is the first clear shot I have got! A nice little mk1 golf! Edit: gah.... i just noticed the bmp didnt attach cos they are not allowed..... i cant change it at work either. Doh! Edit Edit: Ha ha! I win.... I did something foolish with photo editor, and got it into jpg! -
its the same. prob not worth upgrading the rear mount alone, as the majority of play comes from the front one anyway. I have a solid front mount, it isnt quite as silky smooth as before on idle, but the difference when you come off the power a bit then back on far outways this imho.

Hi mate, Where about are you in Scotland? its a big place! I would recomend magnex 4-1 or supersprint 4-2-1 for the 16v, the 4-1 if you want top end power, the 4-2-1 if you want more friendly torque delivery. I had the magnex on my old golf, it sounded awesome and pulled like a train over 4.5k, and i have the 4-2-1 on my g60. This thread also discusses your other option of miltk downpipe and ported stock manifold, its Leon that was asking for his g60, but it will still be useful to u i'm sure! http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23360 HTH

It isnt really important what that flange is doing.... its just a glorified washer. Sometimes you can use it to help hold the strut to start with, othertimes it just spins. That 10mm hex on the tip of the strut is there to hold the strut still - it does seem flimsy, but I havent broken one yet. The only time I have been affraid is on AVO top adjustables, where the 10mm head is the dampener adjustment.....

i did this on my golf, and unfortunately its an MOT failure. Still for the other 364 days it can work better on a lowered car!

jimsG60, as I had suspected, they do indeed look rather tastey!

Speaker grills for Inifity's. Anyone got an ideas?
andycowuk replied to pacificshack's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
the 6x4 speakers attatch to the rear of the grill, then the grill screws into the parcel shelf supports. -
i've got bonrath ones on my car, got them from german car co. before they died a death. iirc it was £75 ish for the 4 front and two rear ones. They are pretty damn hard though, and were a challenge to get in.... not like the powerflex ones that u can put 75% of the way by hand!

Recommend 17cm components for my new Audioscape Pods
andycowuk replied to Andy Brookes's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
I am very happy with the infinity components that I have had in the past. I had 17cm a previous goof, and in the raddo I have just recently installed a 13cm set in the std early door cards. I have only ever powered my components with an amp, not sure what your plans are, but i woudnt have thought any speaker would sound that great off the head unit. -
What track were u on? The first thing you should check is your rear brake bias adjuster on the rear beam, this could be locking your back wheels, although if its getting sideways just on lift off, the bias adjust wont be a factor; how are the suspension bushes? and rear wheel bearings are tight? (by the end of my last track outing, i could push the car side to side as if the wheel bolts were loose, although it was actually play in the bearings ) Do you know the rating of the springs you have, and the if you shocks are bump and rebound adjustable?

I just wanted to back up Joe M and Chris VR6nos.... if your car is not going to be far from standard, then the OEM bushes will probably add to the handling; the passive "rear steering" will probably make the car turn it a bit better. If you are running quite an uprated setup, you may find this turns into a disgusting vauge squelshy feeling that takes some presision away from the steering. If you think this is likely, you need stiffer bushes.

whay are 5.25 inch (13cm) speakers too big??
andycowuk replied to kid corrado's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
I just put Infinity Kappa Reference 50.5cs (ebay number 5760708915) straight into my early type door cards, without any probs...... its strange that urs dont fit! -
I really liked the look of Schmidt modelrnlines on g-ladders (i think) black g60 ar Edition 38 last year. dubster82's signature has got the moderlines on his raddo and birds polo. Another 15" wheel I really like, and I am 100% certain it would look good on a raddo is Ronal LS.

Supersprint manifold vs Milltek Hi Flo downpipe and porting
andycowuk replied to _leon_'s topic in Engine Bay
actually, more like the other way round.... manifold itself is fine to fit... except its got to come up over the top (so inlet manifold and fuel rail need to be moved out the way). The danger that exists, is that the studs sheer in the head....thats what happened to me, and because I decided to send the head away for port and polish while it was off.....i couldnt afford the heat wrap! Given that your nuts were coming loose(), this should hopefully be ok. While you can fit a system from under the car by jacking it up and lying underneath, it is really anoying to do...... its much easier to fling it on at home, then drive to a local exhaust place and get them to straighten it up for a tenner! -
Supersprint manifold vs Milltek Hi Flo downpipe and porting
andycowuk replied to _leon_'s topic in Engine Bay
i probably should have, but I didnt wrap my fanimold or put a heat sheild on the steering joint gaitor, and its been fine for the best part of 18 months. Dont know how much you would get.... cant see any current or complete auctions. I threw mine away, and remember feeling ill when someone told me i could have sold it for more than just a few pounds...... may be that was a load of tosh tho..... -

Supersprint manifold vs Milltek Hi Flo downpipe and porting

As I see it, and by all means correct me if there is a point I am missing..... if you have £350, to my mind there is no point paying to have your current setup modified to behave a bit like a tubular manifold, when you can by a good tubular manifold and sell the old manifold on ebay. I am very happy with my manifold, but I must point out I have no experience driving my car with either the std item (limped home 5 miles with dodgy brakes before pulling the car appart) or ported manifold with miltek d/p so cannot make any kind of contrast. -
so, nice weather today.....

Well, If either of you pop them up to me, and come back to collect them....the beer will be waiting! Sort it out between yourselves!

Hi Guys, I was kindda hoping that someone around the central belt might have a set of 15s or bigger that I could use for litrally a few days. I need to put mine in to get refurbed. I am in a car share, and would get teh other guy to drive, so milage would be less than 10 miles. I could easily stretch to a buying a case of beer for anyone who can help. :D cheers

I just bought a red G60 from AndyVR6. They are nice, but I havent taken it out the box!
-
i havent got the 6x4's in at the moment, but dont think that they will affect the 400hz range enought to make the difference

reroute shouldnt hurt if you can be sure you car never pinks.... see here I should add..... without a catch tank on your breather, your engine bay could get a little messy!
