You can buy a rough bodied BAM engined TT now for sub £1k, xenon headlamps sell for 200 per pair, I’ve just sold a red leather interior for £300, so buying carefully and the conversion will cost you nothing

BBA Reman, there's no new parts available, they just test, build you a Frankenstein unit, test and give a lifetime warranty, so basically they do their best to keep us legal.

No one can guarantee you that, changing the pedal sensor is a 5 min job, changing the ecu is a 15 min job, neither will need to have the brakes bled after so either / both are a good starting point. Changing the pump is 20 mins or so, but bleeding the brakes can be time consuming - they don't bleed up well after going dry.

Have you scanned yours? The whole system is fragile, not just the pump. ECU suffers water ingress. Faults - various Pump suffers dry joints on the board as well as mechanical failure. Faults - inlet / outlet valve fauts Wheel sensor - water ingress. Faults light permanently on - physically damaged / water ingress Sensor reluctor rings. Faults damage and rust issues causing the pedal to pulse at low speeds. Pedal position sensors. Faults dry / cracked solder joints - usually puts the light on when using the brakes, but can also be random. There's also relays and fuses behind the glovebox. Faults power supply issues. My car had one wheel sensor (light permanently on) - the fault then went intermittent, light on every time from a cold start, but would be OKish from a hot start - then fault, ( intermittent inlet / outlet valve faults) changed the pump for used. Then went very intermittent, once per 30 min journey to work, changed the pedal sensor and all's been good since.

Member eugopnosaj had the same codes and bought a used pump off Sean_Jaymo but didn't say if the pump fixed the issue, maybe PM eugopnosaj Jason?

Welcome, if you buy a cheap car you need to do so with your eyes open. Lots of bits are obsolete and command a premium second hand - front wings, all front lights etc etc At £1500 you're looking at a real project and potential money pit. Sorry for the doom and gloom

Corrados with a cable change box were fitted with 02A gearboxes, MK4 Golf etc were fitted with a revision of the same box designated 02J, the shift on the MK4s is improved but needs lever and tower. The shifter needs modifying with Polo / Ibiza housing parts to fit the shifter into a Corrado tunnel.

I've never done it in a working car (I have dropped an 02J tower in a spare 16V gearbox though). If I was going to do this I'd select neutral first, remove the tower which is a single piece (check for any debris inside the gearbox housing from bits of the old faulty tower), connect the new tower to the cables and again select neutral before inserting into the gearbox. I may be wrong, but that's how I'd do it and if the new tower fails to respond you can swap back to the original easy enough. Someone may actually post later who's actually done the job...……..

We don’t have the infrastructure for electric cars, oil companies just won’t roll over and die either. There’s been a stampede to EVs, once the government realises the cost of EVs and the loss of revenue there will be another Uturn....... How many cars parked on the roads? How many of those are several metres from their home addresses? How do you charge these cars? There’s also a huge industry behind the classic car with lots of jobs depending on it. They can’t sort a paperwork exercise like brexit, can they really revolutionise transport?

Engine complete with all ancils and loom etc £350 but will separate (dashpod has the driver info pixels failing - common issue, but otherwise fully working). Cam belt and waterpump fitted 2 years ago with receipt.

Shell cuts are the way forward, unless you can find someone with the skills to hand form the sections

I doubt the sensors - especially the brass ones will take half a turn, 10mm x 1mm pitch, so essentially you’re trying to stretch the threaded part 0.5mm or crush the copper washer similar. I’d go finger tight and a nip and monitor for seepage.

The UK lenses are configured for RHD so unsuitable for LHD lamps.

I agree, maybe if the forum thrives members and current remanufacturers will commit to more products going forward. I see the forum as the foundations to which we can build upon.
