MK2 pic taken in 1999, the day I sold it, MK3 pic 2001, the day I partex'd it for a new MK4
-
I'd have a really good look at the circuit for dry joints and clean up the contacts by sliding a piece of wet or dry paper between them
-
And the VR I replaced it with, should have kept the 8V
-
The first VR I should have bought was alpine white - went for a Golf VR6 instead...... I owned an alpine white 8V MK2 for 5 years before that
-
Both of mine are, ones buried under loads of Audi spares in the garage, the other sitting outside wearing 3 speedlines and one solitude
-
Lets see some of the valver then
-
As it resets with the ignition off, I'd change the relay first, does the relay click when the wipers wont turn off?
-
Three thoughts, one is the wiper stalk, the other is the park function on the motor itself - the motor will have an earth, live from the stalk and an ignition live and lastly the wiper relay including intermittent wipe function. I think I'd open up the wiper relay and check for dry solder joints, reflowing them if need be

I've done a banger rally in his car, a real nice guy and VW and to a lesser extent German car nut, how did he ruin Retro cars?
-
I'll say hot, alloy expands greater with heat than steel. In practice the won't make much difference.
-
Lets see some side shots of your car, then we'll vote to "Raise the suspension" or "Mod the arch liner" You could maybe add a bumpstop to the top of the damper to restrict movement? http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/bushes-bump-stops/powerflex-universal-bump-stops
-
Or "Get yoself sum camber innit bro"?
-
Could you remove the arch liner and heat it up to deform the plastic? Hot air paint stripper type gun?
-
Cant picture it, photo? I was wondering if you could pull the arch out a little levering off the tyre gently with a piece of timber? 5mm or so wouldn't be noticeable?
-
Where do they rub? 12 o'clock?
-
Toyotech on CGTi, he's used to seeing these engine connected to the wrong cars

Its nice to have a revue :) My CV was stuck solid in the hub, it bent my 3 leg puller all shapes, I had to remove the CV with the hub and press it out, your kit couldn't do that as it needs a hole for the threaded bar, a nice thing to have though :)

I'm new to 1.8Ts, only having had the TT for a couple of months, so that was in my favourites as its a decent flowing manifold that is crack resistant according to the people in the know.

Goodridge hoses - Vr6 upgrade to mk4 calipers - VW Heritage
Dox replied to edd's topic in Drivetrain
Easily done Sean, I've purchased parts that in my mind fit, but are very wrong in practice. -
I'm no welder, without a grinder it looks pretty awful TBH. It serves 2 purposes, to store the MIG and hose and it also stops you kicking the angle iron feet - extremely painful if you happen to just catch your little toe! The press is situated by the main entry door.
-
Can you link an example?
