I have 2 pairs of 288mm callipers and carriers. One pair are Golf 3 and unused by me One pair off MK4 based cars off one of my old cars Both have been stored for years and are sold as core units to be used as exchange units on recon callipers (or stripped and checked by the buyers before deciding to use them or not) No warranty implied or given! I don't warrant any brake hydraulics I sell for obvious reasons. Pics to follow, reply MK3 or MK4, first post gets first choice

One of the others may have storeage? The bits you want most others don't, you running gear, 2 wants engine, 3 wants interior / exterior bits etc then split the rest or sell and split 3 ways

Drive shafts Clutch hydraulics gear lever and cables centre console Can you buy a breaker between a few members on here? My bro did that years ago, 3 mates shared a breaker between themselves and sold any other bits on for a 3 way split

I flew to the isle of man for one of my cars, an engine from Somerset, twice to the lake district for parts, Sunderland for another car, Scarborough for a van... The build is a one off, how gutted will you be if you miss it?

Where do you live? I've personally travelled 100s of miles for stuff I've wanted, this is a 1 off, you need to put yourself out if you want it bad enough?

Does the fluid smell burnt?

What's up with the auto? Have you tried checking fluid level or changing the fluid itself? I'd personally convert to manual as the car will be worth more and easier to sell with a manual box. I once did a banger rally in a merc E class, no kick down for almost 3000 miles then on the way back from Rome the bloody thing decided to work!

It shouldn't put you off anything, its insured let it go. My other half Scirocco has a lovely dent in the rear quarter from someones door......

They're rough! I have a set of 4 partially stripped 5 x 100 in the shed, one centre is off, others have snapped bolts or heads rounded by the previous owner - the lips have no lacquer on and would hand polish well, centres need paint but no where near as rough as those in the ebay ad.... I also have 2 brand 5 x 100 new old stock with light storeage marks to the centres. 4 16" OZ chromos 5 x 100 but Subaru offset and centre bore. 4 16" TT mini comps And plenty of others I have no intention of selling (RCs, ABT A23s, Compo THs etc, etc lol)

My car arrived on these shores with the ABS light on 1, permanently lit, scanned and replaced a wheel sensor, passed its first ever MOT at 15 years old. 2, fault now intermittent, various inlet / outlet valve faults tried a few ABS ECU's without any success. 3, used pump fitted in 20 minutes - another hour to bleed / replace ****ty old (original?) fluid - I presume there's a power supply fault inside the pump as there's so many faults? 4, fault now intermittent again (no valve faults!) replaced the pedal sensor with a recon unit bought from emu off the forum = cured, for now! If you go the timer route will you ever get around to fixing the fault? 1, Will you tell a buyer in the future you've fitted a defeat? If yes deduct £1000 off the potential asking price, if no then you have no conscience. 2, The longer you leave it the more likely other the components will have issues and you end up with a car with multiple faults like mine. 3 Used pumps are getting scarce and going up in price, you're just delaying the inevitable - I bought 3 used pumps for less than £30 delivered - they tend to be a lot more expensive now. 4, If you're ever in a serious accident and leave black stripes on the road it will be obvious the ABS isn't working, the police may want to prosecute if they find the defeat, the insurance may refuse your claim and only pay out for 3rd parties. Just my 2p worth, only I drive my car, when the light was on often cycling the ignition took it off again - but I was aware of it and it was my choice to continue to drive it. Not really meant as a lecture, just shared experience and an opinion that may differ to yours.
