  2. Going back 4 or 5 years owners were comparing prices of hot hatches of a similar age and saying how low Corrado prices were in comparison and wishing the prices higher. I said at the time higher prices would only prevent enthusiasts buying them and they would become a commodity for the well healed and dealers. I wanted a MK2 GTi when I bought my first Corrado VR6, at the time the Golfs fell into 3 categories, rot boxes, chavved and modded badly and standard or nicely modded but expensive. So I bought a DBP VR6 with leather, one owner female living in the Isle of Man (no road salt used in winter) for a grand. It had never had an MOT in its life, but I managed to scrape it through the day after I got it home - ABS light on, handbrake crap and typical white steam / smoke due to lack of use. Then another VR6 game up for sale here, Grimmys green Storm, overheated and head gasket blown, rusty front wings, needs a small patch on the drivers sill and a bubble on the NSR arch, no where near as clean underneath as the DBP but a snip at £650...... Would I pay £10K for one? No, I like my cars to have depreciated as much as they can and cheap to repair - not something you can say about the newer VAG stuff. Current fleet, 2 VR6s above - both SORN, 2 Audi TTs (ones a breaker) and an old faithful MK4 Golf TDi estate, she drives a 2010 Scirocco TDi, one car losing money in the household is more than enough for me
  3. Mods only as far as I'm aware
  4. I tried to copy and paste and the *******s still won't allow them to load. I suppose the only thing to do is message 24vrenshaw and see if he still has the pics or can download them from PB? I have a set so will need pics as and when I use them
  5. Welcome, the tapatalk app make uploading pics off your phone easy
  6. That's an early interior with switches on the door card, not the door pocket

  8. Great to watch. Needs to be made a sticky as make do and mend will be the way forward for our cars
  9. Ditto the above, I crashed my FB account 6 or 7 yeas ago and use a fictitious name now (I'm on my second after being banned for using a famous name earlier this year - I suspect someone reported me) and join groups I'm interested in, friends chosen carefully, but no family as others would guess easily who I am due to my interests. I only use messenger to arrange to buy items and statuses are **** taking, banter and funny videos etc.
  10. You're efforts are appreciated Jim, as all the mods (except Supercharged?) are Corrado-less now maybe we need a new section for non Corrados?

  12. Jay Renshaw did a group buy for polly mounts several years ago, I bet there's a few sets around unused? Try a wanted ad?

  14. Others will know better but I think you can do a TDi 5th gear swap without removing the gearbox (done underneath the passenger wheel arch) for more relaxed cruising.
  15. AUM is a 150BHP? I had an Octavia with a revo remap with the AUM and K03s turbo so I can imagine how well the lighter Golf goes (AUQ is 180). Nice project, if it was mine I'd add a GTi front spoiler and a standard looking twin exit back box.
  16. Pics of the hose to calliper connections would help
  17. Rear compensator seized?

Whereabouts are you? Maybe someone local could take a look for you and advise you better?

Sooner or later you're going to have to spend money. What are you trying to achieve, get it running then sell or a resto for yourself?
  21. The first thing I'd do is get the dash light working as it should, then you can see if the abs is disabled when the wheel locking occurs
  22. If water was inside the servo it will still be there, the point I was making was a faulty servo could hold the brakes on (not that your servo was actually full of water like B5 Passats). It sounds rather dangerous, I'd be tempted to leave the glovebox out so you can pull the fuses if needed. Is the light still on the dash all the time?

Take the cam cover off and remove the cam, a stuck Valve will be easy to spot. You can do a proper compression test without risking Valve damage as all valves will be closed and there's no chance of shredding teeth on the aging belt.
