First of all the ABS pumps job is to release a locked brake, not lock them on. I'd look at the brake servo, I've heard of passats filling up with rain water from blocked scuttle drains and locking on the brakes. Scan, then clear codes. Drive the car then rescan for current faults. ABS fuses and relays are behind the glovebox, check they're clean of corrosion. ECU is in the passenger footwell behind a panel next to their left ankle, again check for corrosion on its multiplug. EDIT, if the light is on the dash the ABS is disabled, if the brakes still lock on its definitely nothing to do with ABS its mechanical

VR6 Brake Compensator Valve - very little effort on rear brakes at MOT
Dox replied to Simeon's topic in Drivetrain
If you jack up the car the axle will drop so you'll need to open up the compensator (use a cable tie or similar) to bleed them -
I agree, I have a pair from a 90 G60 as spares and they are better than both my late VRs. That said environment (freezing Highlands, to southern coastal habitats and everything inbetween) as well as various chemicals used to wash the cars will also have an effect.
-
Before they remanufacture anything they ask here for good OE spare to copy, therefore I doubt original tooling? Then there's the plastic mix chosen, again a non OE mix who's long term durability will be an unknown quantity. Its still good news for the Corrado community though, better an alternative than nothing.

They too will be replicas? There will be plenty of volunteers for a free set to test fit that's for sure lol

VR6 Brake Compensator Valve - very little effort on rear brakes at MOT
Dox replied to Simeon's topic in Drivetrain
The next time you go for an MOT put some weight in the boot to give more rear bias, the valve should free up with use, speed bumps will exercise it for you -
You can jump above me, they only make you paranoid, purchasing batteries, alternators, oil pumps and engine rebuilds. Tape storage units come without such worries.

He's not French? Mockney innit
-
It is, it also stops noise. I meant the whole pump and swirl pot?
-
The frustrating part is people have thrown away the swirl pot when their pump failed. I wonder if a MK4 / TT pump would fit?
-
I agree, but there are some "bad boys" amongst us who are buying to resell at large profits on ebay. I spotted one that had a current ebay listing for an ABV inlet who placed a wanted ad here stating "no silly prices!" the exactly the same part.

I can't find an image, from memory its the OSF corner that catches, once fitted if you close the bonnet slowly and use a torch you'll see where its about to catch. Open the bonnet and put some blutack on that corner then some emulsion paint blobbed on top of that before lowering gently again you'll put a mark exactly where it catches on the framework.
-
Its just a 2 inch cut from the double skinned framework underneath the bonnet, it doesn't show with the bonnet closed and if you go steady with the dremel you wont scorch the paint

I offered £155, but not me

Looks a clean car, sherry pearl metallic. Decals probably helped keep the price down, I've never seen the car before, here, FB, nor clasifieds. Lowered Corrados look good on standard Speedlines so don't give up on them too soon.

Bearing noise usually changes when steering, eg a noisy O/S bearing will go quieter negotiating a roundabout because weight transfers to the N/S and vise-versa. I'd swap tyres front to back and see if the noise moves / changes if its purely speed related.

It was still there this morning, a G60 on silver Schmitts

It's still in the packaging lol
