Well its fixed. Brand new VW door and all fully resprayed down both sides. Really really pleased with the results, its a better finish than ever. :) Credit to my mate who is the sprayer there for a top job. Heres some piccies to show you the workmanship. Jay -
Its threads like that which make me want to start playing :) Jay

Looks the same apart from being able to see the central locking/window relays. Jay

All caused by slight exhaust leaks as Darren said. The extra air creates just the right/wrong mixture with the fuel filled air to ignite in the hot exhaust and flame = pop!! :) jay

Nope they are my first set of converted Porker seats which I sold a couple of years back complete with rear seat trimmed in porsche logo cloth to match. They were from a Porsche 944 S4. Its not actually leather its "leatherette" vinyl to you and me. Comfy seats though. :) Jay -

Any chance of a list of people with a TT dash? :) Erm Me. :) Thats it in a Corrado that I know of. I know of 2 MK2's in the UK and 2 MK1's in the UK. Hardly overdone is it..... Jay -

I guess he is the only one who can say for sure. So if you're "not a big fan of the retro / gimmicky-styling TBH" why bother with the gearstick surround which will not go other part of the Corrado interior what so ever?? Jay -

Maybe I am not remebering right, its been a long time since I had a Corrado handbrake lever. :) I know I had to fit the TT one as the Corrado one was no where near when I fitted the TT centre tunnel. It was off centre too which meant I had to move it across to the left 1" aswell. The sleeve may fit but I am sure the Corrado handbrake lever is kinked..... -
Fitting mk4 handbrake gaitor+TT gearshift/surround

The handbrake gaitor won't fit. The handbrake on the MK4/TT is straight, where as (from memory) the Corrado one is bent part way along. The TT surround can be done, but why not do it properly and fit the whole thing :) -

I am not paying anything its all being done on the other blokes insurance. They haven't scratched it, my best mate is the head sprayer there and that is why I take it all the way back to Bournemouth from Manchester as I know it will be perfect. Jay -
To be honest most cars of 15 odd years old have had some paintwork, even when people think they haven't. If you work in the bodyshop industry you will be able to tell the difference between a bit of a blow over and a big repair. If there is any sign of rust at all walk away as they only rust if there has been damage, period. Be that a small chip of paint thats rusted (bad maintenance) or a panel line rusting which means a bad repair. The G60 is not really suited to track driving as it tends to get very hot and its power is lower down the revs (not really a track ideal). The obvious choice is the VR , but you could also get a really cheap valver and do an engine transplant.... Jay

Well I have had a bit of a result with my car at the bodyshop. My car is in the bodyshop for a replacement door after my neighbour reversed into it. The bodyshop didn't get the car finished for last weekend as they made a mistake with the paperwork, so they are not just fitting a new door and respraying the whole side, they are painting the other side too so its all completely fresh and new!!! How good is that! So although it was mint anyway its all being done in waterbased paint, which gives a much better finish than the older paint systems. Can't wait to pick it up on Saturday :) Pictures will follow obviously :) Jay -
I have quoted £1200 before, that would not include supply of the dash, but would include the install of the electronic climate control system inside the car. As for turn around, about a month. I can only do it in the evenings/weekends so its a hell of a lot of work to fit in. Jay

Jim/Stan I am quite happy to do any job. Obviously I don't know how much to charge for a lot of things as I am new to this :), but I guess if we agreed a low hourly rate for small jobs like rear beam bushes then that would be fair. Bigger jobs like an engine conversion would need a good discussion about what you are after, how much functionality you want etc.. There are lots of different ways of doing an engine swap and it all depends on what the budget is. Feel free to get in touch about anything. PM if you want my mobile number to discuss things more easily. Jay -
I had some of those problems with the dial pod in my TT dash. Thankfully I now have the Mk4 dial pod in the TT dash :) Also means I get indiglo blue dials unlike any TT. 8) The TT dials seem very tempremental.

Everything can be done for a price :) Plus I have done it twice now :) Jay
