Swompy's Ice grey violet. Now gone to a new home
CazzaVR replied to Swompy's topic in Members Gallery
Standard fo sho! I'd get a black VW grille badge though  -
:( Know how you feel, mate- totally soul-destroying, but leave it a few days and come back to it as the others have said. It's seriously not worth breaking it after the time and money you've spent. Breaking it will be much more stress and hassle than sorting out the niggles- trust me! You would be doing yourself a complete injustice. Now, go lock up that charger for sale thread this instant! :nono:

Dave, would the ISV of an 8v Corrado work on a KR?
-
One of my fav bands 8) In desperate need of some new material- come on Boards of Canada- pull yer fingers out! Lol at 'Mastodon' Almost sounds like a piss take metal band name. How about 'Mammoth' or 'Sabre Tooth'. Rock on!

Thanks for the info, Yan. Mine flashes on start up as normal, goes out, then starts flashing again and stays on unless you turn off the ignition and strart her up again. It stays off after that. Checked, and mine doesn't have a relay in slot 5 :? I'm assuming it hasn't had one for a while (before I bought the car), but why wasn't it flashing for the first few months of my ownership? Only started flashing after I replaced the rad/flushed & replaced coolant :?

Fabricated a heatshield for my 4-branch from some exhaust heatshield. Really fiddly and lots of trial and error, but got there in the end :)
-
My local VW also give me a good parts discount as I'm a club member- membership has paid for itself nerly 3 x this year from the discount 8)

That sucks :( Someone drove into my rear arch in the work carpark, never found the culprit. Damage was a fair bit worse than yours + on swage line. Was quoted £280- £350 by several different bodyshops. Got it done by ChipsAway in the end- £141! The guy did a really good job- knocked 95% of it out then a little filler, prime, paint, buff and it looks good as new. He worked on it from 9am - 2pm and even repaired one of my seats free of charge!

I've got a good black carpet for sale- can even clean it for you if it's not urgent (got a Vax hoover).

Polished Est :ignore: -
I got one a couple of years ago from VW for around £45 after discount.

Would brake/clutch cleaner be a suitable product to clean it with? Should be fine, Stu- I usually use carb cleaner. Also worth a spray of PTFE stuff such as 3 in 1 after you've cleaned it.

My money's on the driveshaft damper/weight, as mentioned above. You can either cut it off, or secure it with a jubilee either side.
-
Off off off! Awful things! Have a hacksaw & tin snips handy just in case the bolts are totally rusted.
-
Nope! They can end up blocking other stuff etc. Much better to find the leak and fix it at source :)
-
Many thanks to Panderoo (Andy) for a smooth transaction today! Nice to meet you mate, you've given me a little inspiration for my 16v ;)
-
Wow! It's looking superb! 8) Your time and patience has really paid off 8)

Yeah but wouldnt that mean that the dials from the late 95 model wouldnt work as it doesnt have one  The late cars don't have them because they have an electronic speed sensor instead... the search would turn up plenty of info on this ;)

Could be as simple as the circlip on the side of the gearstick (under the gaiter) being missing. Only a few p from VW. Try the search- there are several threads with pics about this. Other than that, it maybe worth changing the gear oil and giving the cable a bit of adjustment. There's a sticky 'how-to' for this. I had a similar prob and replaced/did all the above + change my cables as they'd been resting on the 4-branch manifold and were half melted through  So it's worth giving the cables a good visual check to make sure they're OK.
