  1. Cheers Tom :) Tried phoning him 3 times today (he puts his number on his Ebay auctions). Surprise, surprise it was off the hook the whole time. Have escalated the dispute to a claim from Paypal. Again, can't understand why the seller hasn't sorted this- not even an expensive part!
  2. Look quite nice- would look good in black. Have thought about putting the 16s off my Octy vRS on the Corrado, then some 17s on the vRS...

    rear light tinting

Make sure you have some nail varnish remover to get rid of any mistakes- works a treat on the tint if you go wrong. Don't worry if the laquer still isn't totally smooth/clear even after several coats. When the laquer has hardened properly (I'd leave it a few days to be sure) give it a really good going over with some very fine wet and dry e.g. 1200 grit. Then use a cutting compound (safe cut, Autoglym paint restorer etc) to bring out a really smooth, shiny factory finish.
  4. Hi! Get some pics up in the Member's Gallery 8)
  5. Done both, mate. Also via Paypal dispute too :?
  6. blingcrosby -has an Ebay store called Volksrange. I won and paid for an VR6 oil filter housing around a month ago. It still hasn't arrived, and the seller failed to respond to 5 Ebay messages/emails. I have now issued a complaint through Paypal and have sent another two messages via this procedure, and he still hasn't got back to me  7 messages in total- how difficult is it to look after your customers and send a quick reply? I just can't understand why such a big seller would risk being black-listed by Paypal and receiving bad Ebay feedback for the sake of such a small item. It could be resolved so easily. He is selling another at the moment, too  An amusing quote from his listings: Call or message us to check suitability for your vehicle - don't bother! Going to call them on Monday...
  7. You'd just need to change the pin. Mine actually came loose whilst driving, so the steering wheel was totally free to move up and down- quite a scary experience! I just popped it back in and used araldite on the end to hold in place. It's easy enough to get to and swap out- just remove the lower steering cowling.
  8. It's the carbon canister, which removes unburned petrol fumes. You can either delete it or relocate it. I've always found it easiest to relocate it under the MAF, on it's side, cable tied in place. Do a search- been discussed loads ;)
  9. It should also slot onto 4 metal screws in the floor. These have a kind of plastic button thing that screw onto them. Over time, they become loose and lose their thread, so they don't hold the plastic in place. Stick 'em on with araldite.
  10. Welcome to the forum! The problem you have is very, very common, but I'm afraid it can be caused by any number of things e.g. ISV, MAF sensor, coilpack, plugs/leads, relays, throttle body, throttle cable, throttle damper position etc. Most likely causes are ISV and MAF. You can remove the ISV and give it a good clean and lube. Best thing is to do a search as it's been discussed soooo many times! Also, I wouldn't take it to VW! Find yourself a good specialist instead ;)

    exhaust ?

Will be fine, if a little noisy ;)
  12. Steve, my air leak only caused the idle to fluctuate when warm too. Dunno why though!
  13. The Corrado script was coded on cars up to around 1994, then they changed to a more updated chrome badge.
  14. Steve, also check all the air hoses/pipework for splits/holes. Had an identical prob on my first 16v, which turned out to be a small split in one of the ISV hoses.
  15. 53 mpg in my old G60 8) Was on a 20 mile journey, doing around 50mph all the way. Had over 40 mpg from my first 2 valvers. Best in VR is around 36, normally 29-33 on a decent run in my current VR.

    Emissions...

That's mad! :( Have you tried a different metering head? There must be someone on here who'd let you swap a working one on to see if it makes a difference. Other than that, is the lambda OK? It failed it's last MOT with me on CO emissions, but only just- CO was around 0.32, but just wouldn't budge below 0.3. Blake fitted a new lambda and it went through OK.
  17. Climair used to make them- not sure if they still do though. Worth a go.
  18. Mine has been exactly the same since fitting the low temp stat. Water rarely goes above 70 C now. Getting the same mpg as before and drives well, so doesn't look like it's over fuelling. Did the 'hose' test too, cos I was a bit worried when I first fitted it. The bottom hose stayed cold for a while, until the car was up to temp, while the top hose warmed up quickly. Will do this again, just to put my mind at ease!
  19. What's the offset of the new wheels. Standard VR offset is around 43. If it's 5 more, just get 5mm spacers. If it's 10 more, get 10mm spacers etc etc.
  20. Just read this thread- all a bit puzzling. I know Andy cos he bought my last 16v off me and I've seen him 2-3 times since. He's a top guy, and as you say, he fitted looms for people at one of the Bristol/Bath meets. Everyone was very pleased with the quality of the looms and the improvement they made. It's unacceptable that people who've paid for their looms haven't received them. I don't want to speculate as to why Andy's gone 'dark', but there must be some sort of explanation. I'll see what I can find out.
  21. Not too sure tbh. If it did work, it would give the chrome a nice smoked look.
  22. You could try using light tinting spray.
  23. Would think they're identical to the Golf/Passat ones etc (apart from being green!). Can you get a part number?
