  1. Nice 16v there Dave! Kept that one quiet ;) I'd love to have a totally standard, well kept 16v as a daily hack 8) The insurance is an absolute joke! As Jim says, HIC are supposed to be good. Admiral do the multicar thing too.
  2. This is a real shame after all the hard work you've put in, Stu :( I guess needs must though. Just make sure you stick to that plan of yours! Any clues for us?
  3. They're not Kahns. Similar though. Masitaly presidents methinks...
  4. We've got one- absolutely love it! Amazing car for the money. Definately a Q-car. Just waiting for the warranty to run out next summer... It still amazes me how much bashing Skodas still take :? As a direct replacement for the C, I think I'd go for a 350Z in 3-4 years, when they've depreciated suitably.
  5. The quality of the VR6 grille badge from ARZ is excellent. Yan, don't think they are from VW though! To remove the rear VR6 badge, cut it off with dental floss. Then, remove any residue with white spirit.
  6. Here you go, Paul :) They are not OEM, but are identical. Got one on my VR and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. 21 Euros- around £16? Clicky
  7. Thanks, Kev. Here's a 16v silencer. It looks very similar the VR one- I think the only difference must be the length :?
  8. Just got a couple of questions: As all Corrados have the same bore exhaust, would a 16v front silencer fit a VR? My VR has a decat pipe already fitted. What is the exact bore size? I know it's around 60mm, but need to know the exact size because I may just get some stainless tube to replace the front silencer, such as this Cheers, chaps!
  9. Bought some wheels off Mike Edwards this morning. Thanks, mate :)
  10. Usually can't stand SUVs, but this is quite 8) I like it :)
  11. Also worth checking that the dizzy is set correctly. Undo the nut that holds it in place, and turn very slightly clockwise or anticlockwise and see if that helps.
  12. Gogsboy, did you give them the part numbers above? I just popped in to my local Ford place, told them I wanted stat parts for the Galaxy VR6 and they got it all up on the screen. Think the Galaxy was a 2.8, but the 2.8 & 2.9 parts are identical, so it doesn't matter. Jon, the 80c stat is the standard stat. The 70c stat will keep the oil & water temps down. I fitted one a few months ago and it's made a hell of a difference! I used to see water temps of 90-100c, and oil of around 105-115c. The water rarely goes above 80c now, and the oil is usually around 90c. Well worth it imho- waaaay cheaper than an oil cooler. The car does take longer to warm up though (sometimes 15mins to get to 80c), so you need to pootle around for a bit before you can rag it.
  13. So many things could be causing this. Get it on VAGCOM asap. Could be leads, coilpack, MAF, air leak, Lambda etc etc! Also, make sure there are no air leaks on the intake system. Also worth giving the ISV a good clean + check the hoses- mine stalled all the time and the sponge from the ISV damper pot had been sucked into one of the small ISV hoses.
  14. Nah, mate- 10mm will be fine.
  15. 1. Not sure about the bolts- what make are the wheels? Best bet is to go to a wheel supplier. 2. You'll have to measure the centre bore of the wheels. The Corrado has a centre bore of 57.1mm, so you'll need a spiggot ring to make up the difference. Usually loads on Ebay. 3. What Rado have you got? 45 should be fine on a VR (ET 43), but the 16v and G60 is about 10 less than that, so you'd need 10mm spacers. HTH!
  16. Andy, that pinstripe looks superb 8) Changed the aerial today- now I can get reception! I had another good aerial knocking around, except it had different plugs (the ones on just about every non-VAG aerial). Halfords do an adaptor lead for around £3- what a godsend!
  17. Agree with Michael- my car's nearly on 190K now, but it's in much better nick than loads of others with much lower miles. It's got a really good history, and has had a full head rebuild. Low mileage doesn't always mean the car will be a minter, although it does mean it has the potential to be. And likewise, high mileage doesn't mean it's gonna be a shed... Defo worth a look though 8)
  18. gogsboy, the parts are identical to VW 8) Just ask for the bits from a Galaxy VR6. I'll try to find some part numbers, but have a feeling I've lost them :(
  19. Personally I think smoking at the wheel should be banned. Just don't see how it can be safe- e.g. if there's a crash at 70mph + in front of you on the motorway, you're gonna be fubar'd for sure, whereas if you had both hands on the wheel where they should be, you'd have a much better chance of avoiding trouble. Food's not a good idea either unless you've got a passenger to feed you
  20. Guys, best place to get your VR thermostat housing, sensors etc is Ford. I paid around £40 for all the plastic housing pieces, new bolts, blue sensor, various O-rings etc. Much cheaper than VW! Got a Neuspeed 70C thermostat from Awsome. Oil never goes over 100 now, although it takes longer to warm up.
  21. I'd get a S14A 200SX over the Fiat every day of the week!
  22. Should fit fine as long as you change the early hooks for late bars. HTH
