Should be able to swap the internals over no probs.
-
Good stuff- must be a relief to finally get it driveable. Looking forward to seeing it sometime- I feel a Bristol/Bath meet coming on!
-
Good work, Michael- it's come up a treat! Interior looks spotless 8) Get some new rims on there though ;-)
-
Now sorted (mainly due to ProdigalSon & Boost Monkey!). Took wheel of for a proper inspection and discovered a caliper bolt was missing so the caliper was flapping around  All sorted now :) Cheers guys!
-
Nice one, Gav. You've now got two of the best Rado colours 8)

Got these done- good job too, as the n/s front coilover had been put on the car incorrectly- nuts/washers in the wrong order. That must have been what was making a really irritating squeeking over every bump, because now it's gone. Unfortunately, the 'clatter' noise coming from the n/s front is still there :( Checked the drop links and ARB bushes. Definately look like they need replacing, although still feel solid with no movement. Looked at everything else, and there's no play in anything. Bit puzzled really! Any ideas? first noticed it after have the car up on a trolley jack (under front axle).

Get a screw driver into one of the holes and see if the inner part opens easily. The flap is spring loaded and you should be able to gently push it open with the screw driver. It flicks back into place when you let it go.
-
Michael- like it! Classic colour 8) What have you got planned?
-
That's looking great, Dave. Got it just right- not too bling. What's next?
-
Hi Dave, Had one on my first 16v, which was also lowered. Only slightly louder than standard, but it did knock on the axle. Had to get it cut and adjusted. Really good quality system- the guys at the garage said that Magnex were the best made exhausts around.
-
Bin it and just buy some hosing to re-route the ISV. Takes about 10 minutes.
-
Cheers, Toad. Will check out the ARB bushes- only a couple of quid each, and a job I can actually do myself :) Couldn't get the nut undone on the top mount so took it to my local specialist. They could tighten it a little, but the mount is shot. The other one is on it's way out too. They're gonna do them both on Tuesday, using oem parts.

Thanks for the advice guys! Afraid I'm not going to E38, but thanks for you kind offer, Bill. Clark, may have to take you up on the offer if I can't sort it. When I tried to tighten it, the whole top mount just spun around- couldn't get it tighter. Where does the allen key go? Can't see a recess anywhere for it. Cheers
-
Ah right- cheers Matt, my sister had parked it with the wheels at an angle. What about being able to twist it round by hand though? ps- I've got Koni coilies if that makes any difference...
-
Noticed a really annoying rattle coming from the front nearside wheel area. Had a good check and nothing seems loose or out of place. Popped the bonnet and noticed that the nearside top mount was sticking up more than the other one and it was at a strange angle. I can also twist it around by hand, whereas the nearside one won't budge. Tried tightening the top nut, but the whole thing just moves around. I'm guessing it's goosed. I'd be really grateful if someone could give me a few pointers on changing them. Is it pretty straigh forward? Any special tools needed? Cheers!

Fitted a decat pipe to the VR 8)
-
Big thanks to Ross ( vr6 storm auto) for the decat. Arrived quickly and was in good nick :)
-
Chris, looks like it's coming together nicely. Dunno how you've coped for two months without it. Went away the other week in the vRS and I was absolutely dying to drive the C!
-
Get a jubilee clip that's big enough to fit around the ends of the spring clip. All you need to do is place the jubilee over the ends of the spring clip and tighten it 8)
-
Fantastic looking engine- gonna be well worth the trouble when it's running properly 8) Love the Borbets too- wish I could find some in VR fitment :( .
-
Congratulations! Nice VR- what have you got planned then?
-
Stunning car, beautifully maintained. Good luck with the sale and the new Storm, Judith :)
-
Seconded! Looking stunning mate 8) When are you gonna turbo it then?
-
Looks like an excellent piece of kit! Nice work, Dave- glad it's sorted the probs out :)
-
Cheers Michael :) Seems quite a cheap but effective mod. Just hope it's not too loud  Dave, spoke to my local guy and he said he'd just quickly pop the cat back on before the test ;)
