Nice one! Usually get the old 'Always wanted one of these...' kind of comments :)
-
Hi again, Andy! Nice to meet you- pleased she's going to a good home :) Not Cazza16v anymore! ;)
-
Sounds like coincidence to me...
-
Looks great! Can't wait to see this finished :)

Blue_Joe, glad it's getting sorted so simply! I'm sure it will be back looking better than ever before long :) Jim, I just renewed with Adrian Flux. They actually increased my premium to £490!!! It was £400 last year. However, after a bit of haggling, have got them down to £331. First they offered me £378, but they gave me another £47 off as CCGB discount! They're also not going to up it at all when I get the VR, and they're not gonna charge me the usual £25 admin to swap it over. Very impressed with them.

Leave it to harden for a week. Then, take them off the car again and give them a really good scrub with some wet and dry paper + plenty of water. From memory I used 1000 grit, then 1600. When done, use a cutting compound such as Safe Cut (yellow bottle from Halfords). After this they should be very shiny ;) :)

So long as it's not me, name them! It was you! You've had soooo many sets of wheels you probably wouldn't remember if you'd sold any to me or not  Would love to name the person, but better not! -

Topped up the coolant, and forgot to replace the cap... an hour later, in the middle of London noticed steam pouring out from the bonnet. All the water had gone... Did this a second time, but realised straight away. Tinkering with the G60. Put the keys (brand new Clifford fob) on the slam panel. Finished tinkering. Shut bonnet. New Clifford fob in several pieces. Bought some 17's off someone (used to be on here). He assured me they were VW fitment and had been on his C for ages with no probs. Fitted them, and they were OK for 10 minutes. Then they started making a terrible 'metal deforming' noise. Got it to my mechanic. When I went to pick it up, he said one of the front wheels had fallen off as he was reversing it into his garage! The wheel had destroyed the hub. Turns out they needed spiggot rings and longer bolts. Would love to name and shame! Ran out of petrol at the Westgate mini roundabout, Canterbury in morning rush hour, leaving a huge tailback behind me. My mate turned up with a petrol can and left. Set off for work- a minute later, got a call from said mate 'I've run out of petrol,' What a pair of numpties! My next door neighbour recently bought a year old Lexus. Been his dream car for years. Sat in it with a pencil in his back pocket... leather ripped. -
Ah, some nice old pics outside my old house, before she had a sex change  I didn't realise at the time, just how high the suspension was!

That seems a bit steep to me. You only need to replace the inlet cam on the 9A, as the exhaust cams are the same. You can swap the 9A inlet for the KR inlet. This gives good results which are usually around 10 bhp. Easy, straight swap. Since doing this on mine, the car can get to 60mph in second, whereas it couldn't before. You can also swap the 9A inlet for a KR/9A exhaust cam. This needs to be modified first, so not a straight swap. Places like Stealth can do this. It will give more power than the KR inlet, although apparently the idle etc can become a bit lumpy. I'd say both are good options. The KR inlet is easier and cheaper, but the exhaust cam will give a few more horses. HTH :) I've got a spare exhaust cam. PM me if you're interested.

Personally, I wouldn't code the grille on a green C- think the black breaks up the colour on the front nicely. Had a coded grille on my old green 16v, and it just didn't look quite right.
-
Critical_Mass, the ones on Ebay are usually Schabak models. They're pretty good, but not as detailed as Jim's one. Think they're same scale though. Jim, is yours 1:43?

Not a big job. You need to move the PAS pump bracket out of the way- this is 3 or 4 bolts. Give them all a good soak in WD40 or similar a couple of days in advance. As soon as the bracket is out of the way, just remove the stat housing and stat. I would replace the housing as well as the stat, as they get brittle with age. Best to get under the car and have a look- it will all become clear. Otherwise, it shouldn't take any decent garage more than 45 minutes to do.

swfblade, very, very nice! It's really coming together. Liking the tail lights- suit the green. Got me thinking...
-
Mancorr, what is happening with the temps? If oil and water are taking a long time to get up to correct temps, the stat is prob stuck open as nocrap says.
-
Stan, got a feeling the tailgate is slightly different. You can get the light at http://www.arz-tuning.de pretty cheap.
-
Air lock/blockage somewhere?
-
Yep- always looks worse, the bigger the wheels. My first VR (which was also an N) looked pretty similar to that- not quite that bad though!
-
The 16v is on 143K New VR is 184K (but it's had a full head rebuild ;) ) The vRS has done 14K. My last VR had done over 200K, and was pretty reliable. It had a new engine at some stage though. Think it's now on around 230K with it's new owner!
-
Yeh, I'd wait, unless the car feels dangerous...
-
That's pretty good. Got laser alignment done locally on mine for around £20 recently, but prob nowhere near as good as going somewhere like Stealth. Only took them about 10 minutes to do it. Good enough for me though, on my budget!

Thanks Dave :)

Cheers Dave! Hard to tell from photos- Green pearl is the same as my old 16v. Sorry Nik & Gav- looks like I won't need it after all!
