Looking good bud. Just needs some standard headlights now I reakon. -
So about £8.50 each? Then we can add to that anything that customs charges plus individual delivery costs from you to us? We're probably looking at another £30-40 each then?

I'm looking to fit a solenoid to open my boot from my remote. I don't know what solenoid to get, I'm looking for recommendations, if you've had one for a years and it's been consistently good, can you post a link? Many thanks.

I've got JOM coilovers. I got them because I wanted lows on a budget and tbh, I'm actually quite impressed with them. I'm waiting to meet up with someone that has KW V1's so I can compare and based on what everyone says around here, I'm expecting the V1's to be like floating on clouds compared to the JOMs.

I have my standard set in the garage in case I ever wanted to put it back on but having removed 140k mile suspension, there is no way I'm putting it back. Wonder if they can be stripped down and rebuilt?

Woop, just picked up the Corrado from it's MOT. Passed with 0 advisories which is 2 less than last year

No rush from me either.

Gathering for terminally sick child
OllieVR6 replied to Turbo banana's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Despite the day being slightly over shadowed by the horrible reason its being organised, it'll be a wicked day for the little boy and it warms my heart to see so many people getting together to make an awesome event for such a worthy cause. My thoughts are with the family! -
Looks gorgeous! Enjoy :)

Potential ban on car modifying NOW WITH PETITION
OllieVR6 replied to dragon green's topic in General Car Chat
I still think it's better to be safe than sorry. I'd rather we all made a huge fuss now and ensure that our government knows that the car enthusiast community is not willing to be bullied by bureaucrats in Europe than wait until its too late and laws have been passed. If we don't, new rules and regulations will creep in over time until we live in a world where we can't do anything legally. -
Hmm...I want to have a go but I don't want to look stupid :bonk: As far as I know, its the air moving across the wings that allows a plane to fly. Now if the plane is staying in one place, even though the wheels are spinning, air is not flowing across the wings....so I say no...is that right?

Yeah I'm off to bed :)

I guess it depends who you talk to. I have the front brakes from a Golf VR6 waiting to be fitted to get some extra 'bite' as the standard brakes feel a bit pants compared to modern cars. If I was running an R32 or FI I would upgrade to some 312's or even 4 pots. If the car can go faster than it was designed to then a brake upgrade should also be fitted so that you continue to get effective and consistent braking (see what I did there? )
-
Well here's a page that supports what you're saying: http://www.autos.com/aftermarket-parts/why-a-big-brake-kit-wont-make-your-car-stop-faster It depends really how you interpret what people say. For example: "I am fed up with people saying how they have put a bigger disc and calliper on and how much 'better' the brakes are." That could be taken to mean quicker or, 'more effectively and consistently'. As you say, technically 'quicker' is wrong but 'better' can be considered correct.

Well there's a reason faster cars have bigger brakes :thumbleft:
-
Well actually, the science is behind heat dissipation. Bigger disks have bigger pads. More surface area means they can stop the car with less effort which equals less heat. Less heat means better overall performance and less chance of brake fade.

The legality of License plate Changes in the UK . Size, Position ETC.
OllieVR6 replied to Crispy Squirrel's topic in Exterior
Personally I've got a set of the dubmeister pressed plates and they were sold to me as road legal. If you read the law, they conform 100% but like anything I also appreciate that it's open to interpretation. The chances of getting a 'by the book' policeman is probably 50/50 so I take that chance. If I end up with a fine I'll pay it and then slap the plastic ones back on. They've been through an MOT so the only reason I can see getting any grief for them is if I have been caught doing something else naughty and then it's just another stick to beat you with.
