Hmmm that is a tough one Liam. You have indeed had a good range of motor experience. personally I think it would have to be something with a V8 to tempt me away from the rado's. something American maybe & muscle BUT it is bound to sacrifice the superb handling we get in the rado's ever since the first time I sat in my valver I simply fell in love with the way the cabin & driving position seem to wrap around you like a warm scarf lol im not sure if any of the options you list would fulfil in ways the C does - unless your after a little sideways action from rear wheel drive :D I do like the E30 idea but for me the only option would be the E30 M3 - I often see a white one on my way to work & laugh as we are both always almost hanging out the window to look at each others motor. It is one of the few cars I really pine after but the prices are over double your budget have you thought about what you could do with putting the £6k into your current C & if that would appease the 'whats next' thoughts? I think I would assess all options, make a short list & then go & drive all of those on the list (if possible) so as you can make an informed decision. then I would drive your C again & ponder & reflect lol

If I attend, just for the social, I can offer you a lift to the train station Nick. It might cost you a run in your VRT tho m8 ;) lol
-
:D lol short shifter sorted them proper Jim ;)
-
not sure Andy - I have standard wiper setup on the VR & use bosch super plus blades, which are fine most of the time unless the rain is heavy & im on m'way personally I have a preference to use 'rain away' or similar & then not use the wipers at all lol FYI I did try some bosch aero wipers on the VR, think they were the proper VR ones, but they were awful! I think only about 25% of the blades actually made contact with the screen - chocolate & teapot sprang to mind

that is very similar to my experience with the vans - though we did see a good deal of traffic when Volks World Camper & Bus did a feature. I created the FB page some time ago but if im honest, due to the 69 bay window restoration they are doing & me selling my flat & buying a house, I have been rather slack on updating it etc it is http://www.facebook.com/vantasialtd if you want a look ;)

tidy! I think £ for £ the short shifter is one of the best value mods, along with the uprated headlight looms im hoping to get another 2 shifters off dave, one for the gf storm & one for my valver cool that's good news about the venture! the golf looked a nice motor from memory :) what is your site traffic like & do you do any optimisation? I struggle a little with generating new traffic to the site for the VW camper my friends rents out

yeah it really does transform the sound. I love it when im just pottering around & give it a little blip for one reason or another, the burble it gives reminds me of a V8 lol its worth hanging on to your factory air box if you end up removing it, if it is unmolested, as lots have been drilled & people want a replacement also, did iceviolet install one of daves16v short shifters? they definitely are a benefit, on mine it removed occasional instances of slight crunching when needing a rapid 2nd to 3rd change & makes the throw feel much nicer ;) on another note, how is the new site & venture going?
-
is it on factory air box? if you like the noise Andy I cant recommend a BMC highly enough! they really let the VR engine speak :D quiet as a mouse when barely any throttle or cruising at 70 on m'way but if you have a spirited right foot the sound is awesome - it goes from a low grunty burble to a throaty growl right through to a full on roar which will not only have you grinning from ear to ear but from experience it catches out drivers of fellow cars (especially when overtaking) & you notice their head whip round to look at what is coming past lol
-
nice swap to make Andy!! ive always admired iceviolets car, such a goof colour & oooo those gauges look mint :D
-
what recovery are you with? did they not do a check before getting you started? :( I know RAC did a battery test & an alternator test when my parents BMW let me down last year. the guy then did the same as you explain, put the booster on & left it in place whilst I drove to their mechanics

ooo ive those on my VR too :) welcome back! that lift looks awesome - what type/brand is it please?

this makes an interesting related read... http://uk.businessinsider.com/uk-deflation-might-be-a-good-thing-2015-1 oh & a golden quote from this one http://uk.businessinsider.com/oil-below-45-for-the-first-time-in-six-years-2015-1 which pretty much proves those running the energy markets have been manipulating prices for a long time - it seems not only gas & electric but fuel too That's following comments by the oil minister of the United Arab Emirates reported in the Wall Street Journal. Suhail Mohamed Faraj al-Mazrouei told an energy event in Abu Dhabi that “(OPEC) cannot continue protecting a certain price. That is not the only aim of OPEC." surely that should read 'cannot continue protecting the vast sums of money we are lining our pockets with'!!

welcome Paul - make yourself at home. there is a plethora of info on here & fantastic forum members who help us all along the way nice motor & ooooo red VR6 badges!! hold onto those ;) lol

Nice to see this thread still live.....& even better to see the forecourt prices are finally reflecting what is going on, even if it has taken them a while to react. without getting too involved, no matter what industry you are in if you are employed there is a responsibility upon yourself to make appropriate plans for the event of being out of work, businesses need to do the same I was at GKN when the automotive industry crashed and was caught up in the many many thousands who were made redundant at that time, my mom too. it was only because I had planned for such an event & had redundancy cover & a little savings that I was able to cope with the fallout. (I also chose to use the redundancy money I got to buy the VR6 I had always wanted ;) - silver lining & all that lol) similarly, with my dad being a plumber, I know that traditional trades such as builders, electricians, plumbers etc have to make plans & allowances for their 'slow periods' IE Christmas or even days that are rained off as 'no work, no pay' in those jobs thus IMO these companies should quit their moaning & cope with the thought they might make millions rather than billions this year mic_VR to answer your location question im only a couple of miles from the petrol station shown in the news yesterday with the 99.7p per litre price & today for the 1st time in a long time I actually had a spirited drive to work as my petrol gauge was more favourable than in many many years oh, & worth a mention that when I first brought my VR Tesco super unleaded was 99.9p per litre - fingers crossed VPower gets that low again lol

yay another returns :)

I have a VT front engine mount but it was fitted by stealth so im unsure of how it goes into place. I went for the front mount only as VT due to reading that using VT all round can create too much cabin vibration FYI I used OEM for the rear engine mount & gearbox mounts im sure vince could clear your question up with a quick phone call or maybe Kev Bacon could help you - he has loads of knowledge about engine & gearbox mounts etc
-
holy hail Mary's!! 350 euro WTF!!!

Anyone bought from volkswagen-classic-parts.de ?
g0ldf1ng3r replied to tman2714's topic in Suppliers Forum
If you look for annavr6 on here, I think, she works for VW Heritage & will source the correct items from classic part DE for you. she very kindly helped me avoid a massive shipping charge, around 100 euros IIRC, & got me an outer sill repair panel from them. the price of the part was such that Heritage actually gave me free delivery!! anna was brilliant throughout & all I had to do was give her the classic parts part number & then phone the number she supplied & give my address & payment details I couldn't recommend the company & anna herself any higher -
