  1. thanks Jim, much appreciated I recall Wendy mentioning her paint work. time is not too much of an issue as long as they produce an excellent & long lasting result. i have the valver so can use that in the absence of the VR. I am considering trying to find somewhere that guarantee their work plus I need to check if they would tackle any rust areas & resolve & treat them properly. & think about glass in or out & how they handle that I will check my PM's to refresh my mind about if I have spoke to wendy already EDIT: got the info Jim - i had indeed contacted wendy who helped previously but it was quite a while ago lol
  2. hi fraser when you get the G13 from VW the bottle has instructions on how to dilute & what ratio. it is on the label which you can peel back ;)
  3. it is nice the longer evening are retuning over the last 2 nights I have been able to complete the coilover clean :) I am hoping to get the VR's paint sorted soon but the more I think about it the more it makes me nervous due to the amount of work required & finding somewhere that can / will take it on & actually produce a good result. I have been burnt with paint work previously & my bonnet is truly awful no the micro blisters have started to pop
  4. copy of update on what did I do today thread.... got the VR in the air yesterday - holy cow im going to change my route to work!! the KW's & under wheel arch were caked in dirt & crap off the country lanes. thus ensued a messy affair of scraping, knocking, spraying, scrubbing & getting very wet & mucky with back spray from the water hose jet but I got the passenger side done.... before & after....
  5. oooo that sounds interesting Jim!!!! :D
  6. what colour - black or grey? & with or without straps?
  7. I understand the fitment might not be correct but ive just walked past a mondeo st with wheels looking very much like those no lip as per the Oz ones as you mention too
  8. ouch - the roads in the UK are awful! I know people go on about crashy suspension but even really hard set ups feel nice on a smooth road for the vast majority of roads it is the fact they are so un maintained & full of patches that make our cars feel harsh - on a proper tarmac (rather than pebble dash fecking pile of crap), well laid surface my VR is sublime as the refreshed running gear makes everything feel more cushioned. on that note & from personal experience, make sure you change your front wishbone bushes & rear beam bushes as they have huge impact on crashy feelings. finally, FYI, I purchased my KW's direct from KW. I just called them up & the nice lady on the phone did a price match for me.
  9. hi m8 they definitely seem to be lasting well! & after taking a beating of dirt & grime the only slight issue seems to be some of the yellow paint flaking on the springs. in terms of performance they are as good as when they were fitted all that time & IIRC over 60K miles ago I reckon if I removed them & spent an hour or 2 on each one I could get them to look virtually new my only reservation, as I have said previously on other posts, is that I would have liked to have been able to afford the V2 or V3's - purely for the reason of being able to soften the ride just a very tiny bit personally I would rather put up with being a little harsh & bobbly over rough roads in place of feeling like it is glued to the road & how bloody lovely it feels on a smooth surface :D
  10. lol yes m8 TBH it is my own fault for not getting under there sooner. the KW's have been on for about 5 years I think but ive only recently got myself a house with a drive & a jack, tools & torque wrench etc they came up rather nicely considering though :) I managed to get the drivers side rear done (in a fashion as I was battling a loss of light) once home from work last night & am hoping the rain stays away later so I can finish the last one then at least the MOT man can tell they are coilovers lol PS the auto glym engine bay cleaner helped after an initial scrape & spray
  11. I also tackled the drivers wing mirror, which turned into a yay & boo event removing the mirror & backing plate from the mirror housing was nice & easy, getting the plastic backer off was not so much lol after half an hour or so of letting it soak in warm soapy water & battling with a thin scraper I eventually managed to get the 2 apart & some glass in my fingers to boot but at least I didn't break the backer as per other users on here have stated the ebay replacement had the heater element pins slightly in the wrong place but a sharp knife sorted that school boy error though as I didn't check to see if the old glass & new glass had the same profile - it turned out they didn't! the ebay ones are very slightly do not match in turn I was little over zealous & by trying to force the backer round the glass I cracked the damn new glass, grrrr!!! however at least it isn't smashed into bits like the old one was so I stuck it back on the car & have to say that I was very impressed this morning with how quickly it cleared the ice. drivers side was completely clear when passenger was still half frozen also, though the glass profile doesn't match the plastic backer it actually doesn't look too bad in the housing. though my eye does keep focusing on the small gap between glass & backer in the one corner lol fingers crossed it passes the MOT with a cracked mirror
  12. big box of oil waiting at my desk when I got to work this morning :) got the VR in the air yesterday - holy cow im going to change my route to work!! the KW's & under wheel arch were caked in dirt & crap off the country lanes. thus ensued a messy affair of scraping, knocking, spraying, scrubbing & getting very wet & mucky with back spray from the water hose jet but I got the passenger side done.... before & after....
  13. personally if the above was the case I very much doubt original reviewers at the time of the Corrado's launch would have things such as these written about it.... ** Bill Young, then-Vice President of Volkswagen of America, wrote in a press release “The new Corrado will change the way you think about Volkswagen ... very quickly. We abandoned traditional sports car thinking when we created the Corrado. Never before has so much performance, comfort and luxury been combined in such a compact, agile, 2+2 sports car.” ** ** In VWOA's advertisements, sparsely made available, the Corrado was promoted as a model of innovation: “producing more power at lower engine revs without the lag of turbo charging; low drag coefficient of 0.32; rear spoiler automatically raises at 45 mph to reduce rear end lift as much as 45% - a feature once available only on Ferrari or formula race cars.” ** ** The Corrado VR6 competed with the Porsche 968, BMW 325is, Nissan 300ZX, Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, Honda Prelude VTEC, Ford Probe GT and Toyota Celica GT. And by all accounts, the Corrado VR6 bested all of their 0-to-60 times! Car and Driver returned the quickest published time of 6.4 seconds and 141 mph top speed (June 1992). ** ** In summary, the Volkswagen Corrado was a great successor to the Scirocco and once the VR6 engine became available in 1992, it was a car with few peers in its class. The VR6 was so good, that many said it was worthy of a Porsche badge. ** all above taken from http://www.corradoworld.com/article/corrado-history.html - which has the odd mistake (such as the storm colour lol) there are also the more well known statements such as Clarkson saying it is one of his ten cars to drive before you die his m8 Hammond did an article on how to spot a classic car http://clickhowto.com/how-to-spot-a-future-classic-car-richard-hammond-top-gear/ even tiff needell was on board back when it came out Some reports, at the time, went so far as to call this the most fun to drive Volkswagen ever, and Tiff Needell himself said handling was “very, very good indeed” in a 1988 episode of Top Gear. the fact that the corrado 'didn't sell' or 'wasn't popular & bombed' at the time should only help to reinforce a cult status
  14. hi mark take a look here ......http://www.rayneautomotive.co.uk/home/125-corrado-heated-seat-wiring-loom.html
  15. I have a set of roose on my VR, no issues with them & Vince at Stealth was very impressed with their quality when he fitted them EDIT: one piece of advice I would recommend based on my personal experience would be to NOT order the jubilee clips & use the standard VW constant pressure clips.
  16. thanks m8 it would be appreciated. if I could afford it I would like to put V3's on the VR & swap the V1's to the valver but no way I can fund them for quite a while. VR paint must come first
  17. goldie if you 'bin' your KW's could you give me a heads up about them when you do pls ;) lol valver suspension is definitely on the soggy side
  18. oh balls! I knew the 4th march was jangling in my brain for some reason - the VR has its mot due that day but it goes to mechanic on the 3rd It might be a close cut thing but I will see if I can jiggle it
  19. ok jim thanks I only live a few miles down the road & work in Shirley, so as stones throw from the NEC if I put the bonnet up on the VR it looks fantastic ;) lol the blue magnatec leads going on next week will compliment the roose hoses aesthetically I will have a chat with the gf & let you know asap
  20. Hi Jim Couple of questions if I may pls (I did check the link but couldn't see the info) Is CCGB membership required? what are the ticket costs? What time do the cars need to be dropped off by on the Friday? does it matter what 'state' the car is in? my VR is a nice example but the paint is micro blistering :(
  21. ordered Fuchs titan race oil for the VR, fuchs titan syn mc for the valver & the gf's lupo thanks to tim at opie oils for the 10% discount & also to the company for free delivery :) lying on cold floors doing oil changes pending! lol with the VR going for MOT next week I really must change the driver wing mirror glass this weekend. an idiot didn't leave enough room on a country lane & cracked the glass when the wing mirrors hit each other. fortunately no damage or marks on the wing mirror itself. I am hoping the blue tinted replacement I got will help reduce being blinded by Chelsea tractor headlights cause I am rather low I also want to get the wheel off each corner & clean my KW's - I looked at them the other week & you can barely see the thread!

it is an odd one this. I too copied the link you have above from browser & then paste into thread on here. however when you click the link from the thread it goes to a log in page BUT the link wasn't originally copied from a log in page best thing is to just type http://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.de or copy that & paste into address bar of browser no log in page that way at it doesn't have some weird redirect going on EDIT: for all those who are unaware - do not order direct from classic parts as their carriage charges are ridiculous. instead order through VW Heritage. it takes 3-4 weeks but if the part, or order, is over £35 they used to give free delivery ;)
  23. oh I see now - I have never noticed that black part before yes just disconnect the 2 halves of the yellow connector & tape each end up
