  1. Thats a relief to know Kip, I did have a few thoughts about asking for the cash, would come in very handy :norty: Hmm.......brakes. Well with getting the van kitted out like a camper, MOTing the van and going on our camping trip we just haven't had any spare time to even look at starting them. Have bought the brake fluid though  Oh and picked up an ABS sensor for the front to change at the same time.
  2. Yep both very good points guys, would be good to get a cash settlement offer
  3. Thanks again guys. Erm... Not too keen on the 2 exhaust outlets I'm afraid Dan, not my sort of look I would go for. Plus extra pennies for the backbox. Might be worth looking into the secondhand bumper but need to find out what the insurance would say. As Nath suggested, does anyone think the insurance would look into making it a Cat D? As the repair looks to be about a grand and the hire car could be £3-4-500? They might look at the book value and start thinking along those lines etc? Hope not, as the car is worth a hell of a lot more than that. Ideas as I don't want to think the worst?
  4. Oh yeah Chris, its not a £500 payout. Thats just the material cost of the rear bumper! ! !
  5. Cheers for the support guys, shows how good a club this is. Chris- surely one of those Audi's would be beyond a normal hire car cost? I don't know, not been in this position before. That would be so good though to get something like that. I don't want to build up my hopes and be sorely let down by an average thing!
  6. Wow, nothing done to my car in the last 3 months :gag: Sort of lost a bit of enthusiasm in doing car stuff recently. Been concentrating on my T4 making it a camper for a weeks camping last week. I think my love for doing stuff to the C is coming back again now just as this happens :censored: A bloody bin lorry decided to reverse up our hill and turn next to the car, its front end swiped the bumper and gouged a chunk and scraped that lovely mess you can see. At least the council's insurance has admitted liability straight away and want to get it repaired as soon as poss. Looks like a new bumper please, I've spoken to a very good repair place about the job and they state a new bumper would be close to £500  I'm hopeful to put some pennies to the repair and get some other little bits and bobs sorted at the same time. No full respray for me  Unfortunately I had to sell off the new head and bits I bought for the fitment, a shame but I couldn't avoid it. Would of loved to see what it was like  I'll update things when I find out more about the upcoming repair :salute: Oh yeah the insurance people tell me I can have a hire car for the duration of the repair, I said I wasn't too interested if it was some crappy 1.0 French rubbish :pukeright: They tell me it would be a comparable size car and engine. There's not too many new small coupes with big engines these days. What do you think they could offer? Would love to have a Rocco but surely they wouldn't splash out on one of those would they? :norty:
  7. To support a service history, just start up a build thread on here and list everything done with pics of each service and maintenance to back it up. When you come to sell, give a link to your thread for the prospective buyer to read how well you've looked after the car. It will give so much more info than a stamp in the book ever could. I think the quality of ownership is far more important with cars of this age than a stamped book. Diff with new cars, so don't worry too much.
  8. Very cool mate, give us a few details of the charger then   Nice to see the mk1 outside, looking lovely as usual. Must of been a great day out. I keep remembering then forgetting to get time to pop over for a hello and to grab my manual back, sorry its been ages. Hope to see ya soon mate.

In my humble opinion I think it would be a bit of a shame to refit the strips and indicators. To me this is Corrado perfection and just looks so purposeful as it is. It looks more modern without the bump strips and has neat lines without these and the indicators.
  10. So thats where Nath got rid of the neighbours cat you didn't like?
  11. Hi mate, We've got this seat. I've tried it in the back and the seatbelt wasn't long enough to secure it. Then tried it in the front, I've got Audi S3 seats and they are higher than C leather seats at the front edge. So the seat didn't fit in my front because the top of the Maxi Cosi was right up to the rooflining height and the little fella's head would of been next to the top of the A pillar trim. Could be diff with standard seats. Best of luck and we chose that seat after reading lots of reviews and found this to be about the best safe seat available. I use this seat in our T4 with no probs and friends and family have no probs in thier run of the mill cars.
  12. I'm just glad I've got a working sunroof and windows. Job done then. It is brilliant to be driving around in a C and see all the looks from others in their crappy tins. Enjoy everyone!
  13. You've got some great car skills there mate, looks like you're making an awesome car. We need lots of pics of the mk4 goodies being installed, you could do a 'how to' guide. There would be alot of people interested to see how you get on. Best of luck with everything mate.

I love this car full stop, just awesome :notworthy: Yep prefer the plate moved and those Comps :luvlove:
  15. Amazing results  You have to be so pleased, not going to do Vince's chances of future sales any harm at all with figures like that. We really need some video of this conversion putting up and testing the launch control

Thats what you get with Nath helping out putting it all back together
  17. KipVR has an awesome 3.2 :notworthy:
  18. I was pretty close to doing this, but finding a donor engine, parts are difficult and expensive. Not to mention the tricky fueling. Maybe we will see a few pop up now one or two golf r36 builds have been done. I've seen a few R36 engines and assorted bits needed for about €4-5k on German ebay. I know of a mk4 R32 Golf that has been done. There's also the mk2 Golf thats for sale at £20k! ! !
  19. I've read a build thread of an American R36 conversion going on. Its on Vortex. Why aren't more of those being done?
  20. We're going down on the friday mate, camping down there for the week in the T4
  21. :camp: :luvlove: Jealousy is a terrible thing :fondle:
  22. You mean you had the trailer available to bring it down to Rob's
  23. You'll be alright mate, we'll sort you out fine. Maybe a good blast over Dartmoor in an evening with all us local C owners would bring a smile back to your face
