    Chains cost?

I live in Bracknell and only 4 miles from the Surrey border by Bagshot. I enjoy my days out at DG. Nice 100 mile+ blast up the M40 and last time I spent a day on the Severn Valley Railway - it must be the only place in the UK you can ride on a steam train and see elephants, giraffes and rhinos along your journey as you pass the West Midlands Wildlife Park. I wouldn't go anywhere else for major work on my 'rado but there is The Phirm on the Hampshire/Surrey border along the A30 if you wanted to go somewhere nearer. On their website they quote about VR chain replacement.
  2. I only play 80's and 90's CDs - gotta keep it in period  .
  3. This is one of the main points. All the Corrados left the showroom all shiny and new 15+ years ago now and each and every one has lived a different life. Even the famed(?) VW build quality will see the uncared for 'rados gradually start to rust away and fade or as we can see the cost of repair far exceeds the car's value and the money to be made breaking it for parts. Unless you have a special customised, turbo'ed VR or concurs standard car I can never see a day (well not in the next 10 years) when a normal Corrado (yes even a Storm and I own one  ) will fetch more then £5k.
  4. I've read and seen some really good results using Furniture Clinic products on the forum when restoring leather seats. However I'm keen to know if the results are as good after a period of prolonged usage - can anyone vouch for their seats one year after using this. If so are you still happy?
  5. Painted the bonnet stay (this was the first time I've ever painted something on a car that didn't just involve a touch-up stick!). Gliptoned the front seats - both cleaner and conditioner. Good at removing the black marks where the seat belt holder rubs when you tilt the seats. Cleaned some stuff in the engine bay very carefully - god knows how you reach some areas  . Cleaned the door hinge area - combination of fairy liquid followed up by some Autoglym polish means there's more green to see now than black Tried to fit a new plastic cover over one of the tailgate hinges but I got a right hand side part not a left hand side one that I need :( . Call to dealer tomorrow for part no 535 853 719.
  6. I don't think Jim will ever go to Maccy D's again - he hates seeing Corrado's abused like that. :( It's about time the RSPCC was set up - the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Corrados.
  7. Or get it towed to your mums pretty sharpish. A night outside a KFC...well I don't like to think about it. Hopefully you already use or know a decent mechanic where you live so they can do a quick diagnosis as per Fla's post on Monday.
  8. Where's the GTR? I'm sure there are plenty of forum members who will be happy to drive that to Aberdeen to help you out  . Meanwhile in regards to your dilemma are the KW V1's not a good compromise or are these v.hard compared to the V3's?
  9. Mine's just gone pop...so to speak  . I'll call the stealers tomorrow to see if they still stock this part. Mind you does it really do something important? I can still lock/unlock the boot and open it.
  10. Mighty impressed with the pics. Was the instructor as good as the Stig?
  11. I was up in London today and spotted this beauty in a side street next to Selfridges. Number plate was L2. Is this yours? I didn't know Bugatti did targa versions - is this even rarer than the bog standard Veyron?
  12. Thanks for all the sound  advice. I've duly ordered a few pairs of ear plugs.
  13. I was dreading the Google search for these and find a price in the £££'s. Pleasantly surprised to see they're around £10  I can then re-use them when I go clubbing :epicfail:
  14. I'm off to F1 for the first time in August when I head over to Spa. I'm sitting in one of the stands next to Eau Rouge (the zig zag full throttle up the hill if you think you're brave enough section) and speaking to a mate last night who went last year he said I should invest in a proper pair of ear mufflers. Does this sound a bit OTT? I was going to suffice with some ear buds courtesy of BA Club World.
  15. How do you fall out with a polish? Now I've done that with a beer (Caffreys) about 15 years ago and never touched the stuff again. Anyway back on topic I'm sticking with Auto Glym - seems to be best for someone like me who only has time to polish in 30 mins not 3 hours.
  16. VW also used a nugget yellow Corrado in their advertising campaign when the car was launched. It certainly caught me eye waiting for a train to school on Haywards Heath station.
  17. What a shambles :gag: . I think after that showing any English fan will be in total shock. As others have said there should be no anti-German stuff just a grudging respect for German efficiency and massive blown at the FA for giving Capello a new contract just before the tournament began.
  18. Apparently there's a big England v Germany football game tomorrow. For those of you who can remember the 90's I recall that in both 1990 and 1996 after England went out to the Germans there was a degree of anti-german :hitler: backlash after the game and many drunks steaming out of pubs decided to set upon VW's and BMW's nicking badges etc. Hopefully England will win but for those of you who have to park your C's on the road, or who live near pubs it maybe something to consider. I think with it being an afternoon kick-off the amount of post match trouble should be less than if it was a night-time match.
  19. Jim - I have the same problem. It's never bothered me that much. I now try and reverse extra slow so they don't grind. As long as they work properly going forward is there any reason to be concerned?
  20. I spotted your Storm when I was up at DG yesterday getting a new front wheel bearing fitted. Once you get your car back it will be good to get your views on the Jetex - I'm still running OEM from new (now 14 years) so I expect at some stage the exhaust will start blowing. I had all my front suspension done last year by the folks at DG so I can vouch for how well it drives now.
  21. Excellent job - that's some serious respray job :notworthy: . Hope it all turns out well.
  22. Are you sure? :camp: It's the wife - I got into SATC via osmosis, now the same is happening with Glee :pale:
  23. Steve - is your Storm back on the road for summer or are you having too much fun in the 8v?
  24. This forum is a public service so here's a picture of Mr Big standing next to Mrs Big....I mean Carrie Bradshaw. Final useless fact for now Mr Big is called John Preston in SATC. In real-life he's an actor called Chris Noth.
  25. It's a Corrado. Btw SATC2 is nowhere near as good as SATC. Mr Big agrees "absof**kinglotuley" :camp: .
