If you do please let us know what you use to make the box. I assume it has to be something small-ish and heat resistant...oh and waterproof too :D

Wow - they're as pearly white as Simon Cowell's teeth  I should be getting my loom from Kurzy soon as well....no more candles in the dark

VR6 Storm Classic Green - back on the road

Am I mad or what? With November having been the wettest month on record in the UK I've now decided to swap around my car sleeping arrangements (thought that comment would perk up some folks  ) my Corrado is now tucked up the garage whilst my 18 month old TT enjoyed it's first ever frost last night. A mate said what with the Audi being fully galvanised it would brave the elements much better than the C. There's some logic to that I suppose. Anyway thought I'd include a picture of a bog standard BBS Solitude and 280 mm brake assembly as in a couple of weeks I'm off to DG for an urgent safety upgrade...288 mm brakes with all the usual trimmings they supply. That way it might stop in a similar way to the TT rather than the present brake and hope approach. -
Sunday 11.45am. A lovely looking Nugget Yelllow 'rado just turned off A36 onto B390 heading towards Shrewton. I was coming the other way in a silver TT. Would've flashed but didn't feel right being in a TT. I'll salute you now though :salute:

My Autoglass 7 out of 10 score may get a lot worse today. Did some interior vacuuming yesterday as just got new VW mats to replace rubber ones (no more squeaking with wet shoes  ). Noticed passenger side carpet was more damp than drivers side. As it's rained all night I will check when day breaks to confirm my worst suspicions. Lets see how their guarantee stacks up...windscreen's only been in 3 months so I've every right to complain :mad2:

Dave and Graham at DG really know their onions :notworthy: Faye - your car's looking fab. I'm up at DG in a few weeks for uprated 288mm brakes but will enquire about KW V1s too! I think the stilt look's gotta go in 2010.

This year I've had to have a new windscreen in both the Corrado and my TT. Corrado was done by Autoglass with one fitter - took about 3 hours and I'd say a 7 out of 10 job. Not a perfect fit and looks as though one side droops a bit. Also passenger Lupo wiper misses a 2 inch strip when wipes so not sure about the curvature. :brickwall: TT was done by RAC with two fitters - done in about one hour and easily a 9.5 out of 10 job.

Once you get pass the fact it isn't a Storm it looks pretty good value especially as it has electric recaros.

A trip to DG awaits in a couple of weeks for some decent brakes to replace the standard 280mm ones. The new set up is 288mm OEM VW discs, red stuff brake pads, new brake lines and of course the all important brake calipers. All very simple so far....the big question is what colour should the calipers be. They will get painted with high temp polymer paint and my choices are red, silver, green, blue, black or zinc passivate? Any photos you have will be great...even better if the calipers are with 15" Solitudes.

Mine's beige. Perhaps it's grey if it's grubby

Yeah don't do it. I like the look of your US spec Corrado as it is :D Where in the US are you?

I'm looking at treating myself to one of those race circuit driving experiences. The one that takes my fancy is at Thruxton and I might go for the Ferrari 355 plus. As well as driving this I also drive a Porsche Cayman and a single seater Formula Renault. Obviously it costs a bit but interested to know if any others have done something similar and whether it's any good.

Please can I get in on the next 3 relay batch. Many thanks :salute:

My quest for the perfect Storm! Now supercharged..

I enjoy reading this thread along with Vornwend's members gallery as there's always lots of ideas about what I can achieve with my Storm. Mine's still extremely standard but all might change in 2010. If it sees me through the winter without letting me down then I think it's time to reward the old girl. A 140k makeover awaits....that's mileage not cost I hope. -
If you think about it most UK road cars last around 10-12 years. Hence with Corrados being 14-20 years they're all on extended life now. Agree with comments about running costs - just thinking about 2010 wish list (assuming nothing breaks in the meantime).

I've answered my own question  http://www.spturboparts.com/aftermarket ... prod=16468 Should've read all the thread including the link to the other thread.

Where best to buy them from and how much are they?

Back in 1999 I part ex'd my Blackberry VR6 for a brand new Mk 4 Golf GTi (150 hp). At least I had air con but it was nowhere near as fast or good round corners. In 2003-4 I lived in Houston and drove a Jetta (Bora to UK folk at that time) 1.8T Wolfsburg edition. It had the 180 bhp engine and had a tiptronic box but never used it...just stuck it in D and cruised along the freeways feeling very small compared to F-150's and the like. Back in UK in 2005 I swapped the Golf for an Audi TT Quattro 225 bhp in Moro blue with cream leather - a big step up in performance and re-discovered some of that driving pleasure the corrado gave me. In 2008 I got a new Mk2 TT 2.0T in silver with nappa red leather and 18" turbine alloys (the porn star look :luvlove: ). Only 200 bhp but feels much quicker - it really is a great engine plus the car has great handling. Also a rear spoiler that raises at speed - I wondered what that reminded me of. So why do I have a Corrado again? Well me and the missus sometimes do have friends or relatives staying so trying to get four in a TT wasn't practical. I sold her the idea we needed a more practical car for such occasions and that was that....there was only ever going to be one car to use as practical 2nd car...hence a Corrado is now back after a 10 year gap.

Bought a meguiars water magnet today from Halfords after reading this thread...now just need a dry day in order to do a compare and contrast with my usual leather chamois. Problem I have in Thames Valley is the tap water is so hard you best not leave a drop as it always leaves a smear mark.

Ummm - don't know  I'm still new to all this diy fault interrogation. Anyway many thanks for the help and it's good to know it's not in some difficult to reach location.

Big thanks  to Millerman today for plugging vagcom into my Corrado to see what codes lay behind my recent ABS warning light issue. What came up was 00793 Brake pedal position sensor G100 (35-00. With a quick reset there's be no re-appearance...fingers crossed. However intrigued to know what this code means? All I know is the brake pedal is still between the accelerator and clutch and works, as well as can be on standard brakes.

Two tales to tell  When I got my 'rado earlier this year I was talking to my next door neighbour and he said "Nice car...I used to drive one of those in the 1980's...a Scirocco isn't it" :epicfail: Recently filling up with petrol a hoodie was at the neighbouring pump in a souped up Lupo GTi. Thought "Oh no" when he walked across but he said "Nice car...what's a Storm?" I explained that it was the run-out VR6 model. He then complimented me on the cream leather and he mentioned he also owned a a Polo G40. A very pleasant surprise and reminded me that not all hoodies are bad.

Wow! The recession must be ending

I live about 6 miles from Camberley so count me in as well if somewhere nearby is good. I'm too lazy (and scared) to do this myself...water and electrics...not a good mix

My dad had 3 Marinas...it was so embarrassing :mad2:
