OBD2 - another acronym I know very little about  . What does this involve - it is some kind of ECU style re-chip? I also vaguely gather this "thing" was on very late spec VR6 Golfs in 1996. Keep it simples for me folks :D

You're prices have gone up since last year  . Millerman's VAGCOM worked it's magic on my ABS fault last year so he comes highly recommended. I suspect he's a full strength Stella man not a Stella 4

As mentioned there will always be a small premium but these days a Corrado's value is all about condition, condition, condition. Many Storms are in the hands of owners who knew what they had a few years back - hence even though 14 years old I imagine many have had 10 years TLC. What I like about the Classic Green ones is the cream leather interior - much cooler to sit on in the summer IMHO.

Guess I won't be seeing you along John Nike Way for much longer if you've got a new job unless it's somewhere else in Bracknell. Liking the impressive list of upgrades. Currently getting my cash together for my DG splurge in April, assuming MOT goes well on the 20th. I'm looking forward to hearing what it's like when you pick it up.

Hope it's MOT Okay  .

That's about 3 miles from my home - had to check mine hadn't gone out on a jolly in the middle of the night :norty: . It hadn't - I drive down Ascot high st at about 5pm yesterday - hence right colour, wrong time :epicfail: .

Another great page turner . Trying to decide whether I can do the foliage seal diy job

MMMmmm....nice and shiny 8) . What make of exhaust is that - recognising these isn't my speciality  .

You can say that again - leaving a wallet in the car is asking for trouble  . -

Outskirts of Bracknell in a place called Martins Heron. Lived here 4 years, before that 20+ years in Sussex. -
VR6 Storm Classic Green - back on the road

A big day on the mileage front. Drove/swam down the M3 to Basingstoke to get my alloy wheel refurb quote. I park up and then notice the mileage. Going to reward the Storm with getting the timing chains done this year. 140k mileage.jpg[/attachment:27fnqbp0] -
In my wild days it was easy to get over 130mpg out of a VR6 as well.
-
Ooohhhhh....that's a lovely speedline...makes me want to eat my dinner off it  .
-
That's about right. Will shortly be booking my car in to DG for this. I'm not a big tecchie wizz but they replace some parts with Mk4 Golf 2.8 bits which are more robust.

I'm Starting To Miss My Corrado.....

I want your job 8) . -
I've done a quick search and there's not a great deal on this, hence reason for a new thread. My questions are; Is much prep work required before using - ie: do you scrape away any surface rust etc? What products work well - bona fide waxoyl or the Hammerite alternative? Is it like creosoting a fence - just spray and go or do you need to cover/protect parts of the car? Finally does it work? Thanks for any advice.

I reckon mine is average - about 200 miles short of 140,000. I'm doing about 3,000 miles per year so it will be 2030 when it hits 200,000  . Another related question is how many miles per year do the daily C drivers do? Is anyone doing more than 20k per year?
-
Wow - so you're now the proud owner of VRS 1X. Good work

VWVW - don't forget to start a members gallery thread with some piccies. We can then see what it looks like. I wouldn't say Storms are the rarest though since as Jim said earlier I reckon G60's are fewer in number.

VR6 Storm Classic Green - back on the road
Bullfinch replied to Bullfinch's topic in Members Gallery
Well I'm not that technically minded so I'm basically quoting from my invoice. The upgrade needed new brake calipers (I think they're Mk1 TT), brake hoses, disks (I went for VW ones) and pads (mine are EBC red stuff). I used DG Autotech who come highly recommended. I'll PM the price. I now have brakes which work as well as my Mk2 Audi TT so it's definitely a must-have upgrade. -
Blimey with that amount of work getting done I reckon it will cost more than what you bought the car for. :pale: Still if it fixes all your problems and the car runs mint afterwards then could be considered money well spent.
-
Looking good Rams  . If I can be so rude how much is your wheel refurb costing? I've got a quote for full refurb, powder coat etc at £250. Sounds OK to me but it is only one quote.

There was another fatality on the A329M between the M4 and Reading the other week when a car crossed carriageways into the path of a van. It's about the third I can think of in the last few years. What's unique (and dumb) about this bit of M-way is it has no central crash barriers, merely a central grass section - hence the ease at which vehicles can cross into oncoming traffic. One of my friends has started a Downing Street petition to get crash barriers installed before it happens to someone else. http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/A329MSafety/ Please do find the time to sign this. Many thanks.

Corrado Mention in Brussels Airlines Magazine
Bullfinch replied to Dan_Storm's topic in General Car Chat
Thanks for scanning this in. I'm quite glad VW didn't call it a Corrado. Like just having the original and the best  -
If you look in the owners manual a VR6 is meant to run on 98 RON unleaded. Stick to that and all should be fine. 8)
